Full Text Available This essay aims to analyze how is the writing of the mourning in two Portuguese novels, A Sibila (1954 by Agustina Bessa-Luís and Não entres tão depressa nessa noite escura (2000 by António Lobo Antunes. These novels have different literary styles and were published in different moments in the second half of the twentieth century, but both use the memory as an important resource for telling about traumatic events in the life of those characters who responsible for the writing.

Full Text Available Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar o impacto do sistema de acumulação flexível e das concepções neoliberais no trabalho docente, aprofundando o estudo sobre a (resignificação dos papéis sociais de professor construídos/negociados nas relações que se instauram na docência do Ensino Superior. Para efetivar esse estudo, foram realizadas observações em uma universidade particular situada em um município da região de Campinas. As análises do material empírico, a partir dos pressupostos teórico-metodológicos de Antunes e Vygotsky, mostraram que nos conflitos e tensões da cotidianidade do trabalho docente emergem complexos movimentos de fuga, mas também de enfrentamento e ruptura, que promovem o dissenso resgatando o compromisso social coletivo e o devido reconhecimento dos direitos fundamentais de todo e qualquer ser humano à cidadania.This article aims to examine the impact of the system of flexible accumulation and neoliberal ideas in the teachers' work deepening the study about the (resignification of the social roles of teachers constructed/negotiated in relations which are established in the teaching of Higher Education. To carry out this study, observations were made at a private university located in a municipality in the region of Campinas. The analyses of empirical material from the theoretical and methodological assumptions by Antunes and Vygotsky showed that in the conflicts and tensions of the routine of teachers' work complex movements of escape emerge, but also of confrontation and disruption, advancing the dissent, rescuing the collective social commitment and rightful recognition of the fundamental rights of every human being to their citizenship.

Full Text Available The intention of this work is to consider a reflection between elements of a baroque’s musicality and her application in a contemporary literally text; that is the novel O manual dos inquisidores here, written by António Lobo Antunes, a Portuguese author, published in 1998. I will explain some artistic procedures presents in the book, like the repetition of words and phrases, the organization of the text and the presence of the polyphony, as a important characteristics of a inherited cultural legacy of the baroque one. I understand the baroque not as a cultural movement stuck in a historic period, but like a feeling that can happen in another time, also in the contemporary period.

Marine cyanobacteria as sources of new biotechnological applications

Bioactive compounds from cyanobacteria may also have allelopathic activity with potential use to control algal blooms or as antifouling in the marine environment (Leão et al., 2012, Antunes et al., 2013. We have isolated and characterized for the first time allelopathic compounds named Portoamides that act synergistically to prevent the growth of some microalgae (Leão et al., 2010. Cyanobacteria extracts can also prevent the development of some invertebrates such as sea urchins and mussels (Martins et al., 2007 and so they can be candidates to develop antifouling agents that are environmentally friendly. The potential of cyanobacteria as source of new bioactive compounds is enormous, with the advantage of being applicable in many different areas of biotechnology, with many industrial applications.

Full Text Available O presente artigo se propõe a, num primeiro momento, descrever a evolução do gênero policial, do seu surgimento até sua transformação, numa nova categoria, designada por noir. Partindo deste ponto, trabalham-se as especificidades do chamado romance negro, suas motivações e suas peculiaridades, inseridas na estrutura social contemporânea, discutindo, por sua relação intrínseca, a violência e a morte. A fim de exemplificar esta construção narrativa, usa-se o conto "Tempestade sobre a Montanha", de Wander Antunes, numa análise que permite vislumbrar as manifestações temáticas e estruturais deste novo gênero adaptadas à realidade brasileira.

António Lobo Antunes’ second novel, Os cus de Judas, is a pioneer novel of the Portuguese colonial war literary tradition. Published in 1979, the book becomes part of the author’s first narrative project of finding a self-expression through a narration which goes beyond every single novel. The article explores how that esthetical project faces the linguistic and literary problematics of presenting the testimonial point of view that deals with a traumatic experience such as war, by means of a literary style that always underlines its own rhetoric nature. The language, as a communicative tool and as an autarchic exercise as well, will facilitate and limit the possibility of giving sense to a subjective experience that is trying to be told as a collective intimacy, shared by a silenced generation.

Full Text Available This work intends to analyze some images and meanings attributed to deafness in two chronicles of Portuguese writer António Lobo Antunes: “Não foi com certeza assim mas faz de conta” (2002 and “O surdo” (1998. We are also interested in the type of creation of these texts, drawing a parallel with the kind of reflection developed in some writings of Walter Benjamin, basically in “One-way street” and “Berlin childhood”. In both authors, the fictional production is linked to the issue of memory, taking as its starting point the contact with a seemingly simple everyday object. Effective Complexity of Stationary Process Realizations

Full Text Available The concept of effective complexity of an object as the minimal description length of its regularities has been initiated by Gell-Mann and Lloyd. The regularities are modeled by means of ensembles, which is the probability distributions on finite binary strings. In our previous paper [1] we propose a definition of effective complexity in precise terms of algorithmic information theory. Here we investigate the effective complexity of binary strings generated by stationary, in general not computable, processes. We show that under not too strong conditions long typical process realizations are effectively simple. Our results become most transparent in the context of coarse effective complexity which is a modification of the original notion of effective complexity that needs less parameters in its definition. A similar modification of the related concept of sophistication has been suggested by Antunes and Fortnow.

Full Text Available The phenomenon of Serbian participation in the political and military elites and leadership of the Independent State of Croatia was not enough or rather not at all scientifically analysed and researched. The purpose of this paper is to inspire the historians of our recent past to research and critically evaluate the problems. In the beginning of the war during the establishment of the Independent State of Croatia, the Serbs were not involved in the Home Guard units as regular armed forces of Independent State of Croatia. Along with the development of the Independent Ustaš State of Croatia, the necessity for Serbian participation in Home Guard units arose. The Serbs were mainly educated in Austro-Hungarian schools for officers. They also participated in the armed forces of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes i.e. the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The most prominent among them were: Dr Savo Besarović, general Teodor Dragojlov, general Đuro Dragičević, general Đuro Grujić, a knight, general Milan Desović, general Mihailo Lukić, general Dušan Palčić, general Miroslav Opačić (Fridrich, a church official Zvonimir Stimaković, general Miloš Obrknežević, Minister without portfolio Ljubomir Antić, general Lalislav Milić, general Milan Uzelac and others. Apart from being the most prominent ones in the Home Guard units, there were Serbs in the political elites of the Independent State of Croatia, as well as in the Presidency of the Parliament and in the positions of the Ministers in the Independent State of Croatia. This phenomenon should be an example for future generations, in a case of war, not to happen that one part of the people takes the enemy side because the greatest sin ever is to betray its own people and country.

Full Text Available The 1979 novel Os cus de Judas by António Lobo Antunes, is part of a trilogy with Memória de elefante ([1979] 2009 and Conhecimento do inferno ([1980] 2006, which he calls ‘the learning cycle’. It demystifies, in fiction, the official reports on the colonial war in an autobiographical elaboration. Dealing with the African colonial war, contemporary Portuguese society, alienation about the African events and the omissive silence among the upper classes, the narrative of a comeback is revealed by auto-reflexive reminiscence. The process, conducted by the Antonian narrator, constitutes a catharsis in front of the mirror, whose protagonist is a psychiatrist who speaks about, in and for himself from his childhood to the present. An overwhelming and vigorous writing introduces a new perspective into Portuguese literature in the historical period of post-25th April, dealt with in current article.

The labour category analitical centrality for the Physical Education

Full Text Available The aim of this article was to discuss the need of getting the Labour centrality back to the physical education analysis. With the arising of new production technologies based on micro-electronics, the trend for questioning this category centrality has increased causing reactions on both the Labour Sociology (ANTUNES, 2000, 2002 and the Labour and Education fields with FRIGOTTO(1997,1998,2001 and KUENZER’s (1998 analyses. Supported by these studies and other ones as well, a historical approach on the labour and physical education relation was performed, and, in the second part of this study, a current analysis of this relation was also carried out. The study showed that the Labour category should play a certain role in the analytical repertory of physical education teachers in order to allow them not to use their analysis to emphasise certain social relations that make any concern about a society and an education which effectively regards men in all aspects impossible.

Bloodmeal Identification in Field-Collected Sand Flies From Casa Branca, Brazil, Using the Cytochrome b PCR Method.

PCR-based identification of vertebrate host bloodmeals has been performed on several vectors species with success. In the present study, we used a previously published PCR protocol followed by DNA sequencing based on primers designed from multiple alignments of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene used to identify avian and mammalian hosts of various hematophagous vectors. The amplification of a fragment encoding a 359 bp sequence of the Cyt b gene yielded recognized amplification products in 192 female sand flies (53%), from a total of 362 females analyzed. In the study area of Casa Branca, Brazil, blood-engorged female sand flies such as Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva, 1912), Migonemyia migonei (França, 1924), and Nyssomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho, 1939) were analyzed for bloodmeal sources. Esse artigo tem como objetivo analisar a categoria trabalho no contexto dos regimes de acumulação de capital. Para isso, consultou-se os textos de Marx (1980, Harvey (2014, Antunes (2009, dentre outros. O que caracterizou essa pesquisa enquanto bibliográfica a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa. Percebeu-se, a partir dos textos dos autores, a existência de 2 (dois regimes de acumulação: o Taylorismo/Fordismo e a Acumulação Flexível. O primeiro teve como principal característica a produção em massa e a divisão do trabalho em manual e intelectual. Já no segundo notou-se uma maior flexibilização da produção, com o intuito de atender as demandas do mercado, o que ocasionou mudanças significativas no mundo do trabalho, culminando em jornadas de trabalho mais flexíveis, empregos temporários e terceirizados, bem como perda de direitos trabalhistas. Full Text Available The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine was started in June 1899. The following year, two of its staff members, Herbert Edward Durham (1866-1945 and Walter Myers (1872-1901, traveled to Belém, in Brazil, to conduct research on yellow fever. During a stop-over in Havana, they had the opportunity to meet with U.S. scientists studying the disease there. Durham and Myers brought with them the hypothesis that yellow fever was transmitted by a host insect, much like malaria, whose transmission had recently been deciphered by British and Italian researchers. Yet in Brazil, they persisted in the hypothesis of a bacterial etiology, rather than adopting the breakthrough approach to yellow fever that had been made possible by the program in tropical medicine. This paradox can be explained by examining both Durham's and Myers' backgrounds, which were interwoven with that of another researcher, Alfredo Antunes Kanthack (1863-1898, who was born in Bahia and was one of the central protagonists in the institution of microbiology and immunology in England.

Full Text Available This article aims to analyze the history of labor movement in education during the period of neoliberalism rise in Alagoas (Brazil, between the years 1985 and 2010. This historical period was traced by means of official documents, minutes, photographs, scientific conference proceedings, newsletters, flyers, notes, newspapers and semi-structured interviews. Topics such as neoliberalism, trade union movement, career plans, and democratic management, are discussed in the article. It is a work of qualitative nature, which moves between the need to preserve the memory and the assessment of the education professionals’ working conditions, also evaluating effects on quality of the educational system from the context investigated. Methodologically it was resorted to the content analysis to interpretation of research data. Theoretically we have considered the analysis undertaken mainly by Antunes (1982; 1986; 1995, Boito (2005; 2009, Bruno (1990, Giannotti (2007, Vieira (2009, Carvalho (2008 and Meszaros (2002. The final considerations, based on the analysis of the survey data, indicate the influence of the neoliberal model and political and economic conditions on the direction of union movement, specifically on educational branch. Full Text Available Lutzomyia (Nyssomyia whitmani s.l.is the main vector of cutaneous leishmaniasis in state of Mato Grosso, but little is known about environmental determinants of its spatial distribution on a regional scale. Entomologic surveys of this sand fly species, conducted between 1996 and 2001 in 41 state municipalities, were used to investigate the relationships between environmental factors and the presence of the species, and to develop a spatial model of habitat suitability. The relationship between averaged CDC light trap indexes and 15 environmental and socio-economic factors were tested by logistic regression (LR analysis. Spatial layers of deforestation tax and the Brazilian index of gross net production (IGNP were identified as significant explanatory variables for vector presence in the LR model, and these were then overlaid with habitat maps. The highest habitat suitability in 2001 was obtained for the heavily deforested areas in the Central-North, South, East, and Southwest of Mato Grosso, particularly in municipalities with lower IGNP values.

Giuseppe and Aloysius Frari's works on rabies and history of Frari medical family of Sibenik, Dalmatia.

This article is an attempt to reconstruct the family history of the Fraris, the famous Sibenik medical family. Three generations of physicians from the Frari family played an important role not only at medical and social scene of Sibenik in the 18th and 19th century, but also in Croatian and Italian medical history. I will try to provide important details on the lives, medical and social work, and publications of 5 members of the family, Giuseppe (Josip), Angelo Antonio (Andeo Antun), Sebastiano (Sebastijan), Michele Carlo (Mihovil), and Aloysius (Luigi) Frari. I would also like to pay a special attention to the works on rabies, written by Giuseppe and Luigi Frari, which are among the earliest and most accurate Croatian works on the subject. To reconstruct the history of the family, I studied the relevant editions about the medical and social history of Sibenik, Dalmatia, Venice, and Croatia, together with the Fraris' publications and reflections. This was the first time Italian and Latin language works by Giuseppe and Luigi Frari on rabies were analyzed. The story on Fraris also documents that medical publishing was a common practice in Dalmatia in the 18th and the 19th century.

Data on the effects of losartan on protein expression, vascular reactivity and antioxidant capacity in the aorta of ethanol-treated rats

Full Text Available We describe the effects of losartan, a selective AT1 receptor antagonist on the alterations induced by treatment with ethanol in the rat aorta. The data shown here are related to the article entitled “Angiotensin type 1 receptor mediates chronic ethanol consumption-induced hypertension and vascular oxidative stress” (P. Passaglia, C.S. Ceron, A.S. Mecawi, J. Antunes-Rodrigues, E.B. Coelho, C.R. Tirapelli, 2015 [1]. Here we include new data on the protective effect of losartan against ethanol-induced oxidative stress. Male Wistar rats treated for 2 weeks with ethanol (20%, vol./vol. exhibited increased aortic production of reactive oxygen species (ROS and losartan (10 mg/kg/day; p.o. gavage prevented this response. Ethanol did not alter the expression of eNOS in the rat aorta. Losartan prevented ethanol-induced increase in the aortic expression of nNOS. Neither ethanol nor losartan affected superoxide dismutase (SOD or catalase (CAT activities in the rat aorta. Treatment with ethanol increased the contraction induced by phenylephrine in both endothelium-intact and endothelium-denuded aortas and these responses were prevented by losartan. Conversely, neither ethanol nor losartan affected the endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by acetylcholine.

Transmission of Leishmania in coffee plantations of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Full Text Available Transmission of Leishmania was studied in 27 coffee plantations in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais. Eighteen females and six males (11.6% of the people tested, aged between 7-65 gave a positive response to the Montenegro skin test. Awareness of sand flies based on the ability of respondents to identify the insects using up to seven predetermined characteristics was significantly greater among inhabitants of houses occupied by at least one Mn+ve individual. Five species of phlebotomine sand fly, including three suspected Leishmania vectors, were collected within plantations under three different cultivation systems. Four of these species i.e., Lu. fischeri (Pinto 1926, Lu. migonei (França 1920, Lu. misionensis (Castro 1959 and Lutzomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho 1939 were collected in an organic plantation and the last of these was also present in the other two plantation types. The remaining species, Lu. intermedia (Lutz & Neiva 1912, was collected in plantations under both the "adensado" and "convencional" systems. The results of this study indicate that transmission of Leishmania to man in coffee-growing areas of Minas Gerais may involve phlebotomine sand flies that inhabit plantations.

Full Text Available The democratic management of educational practices is a theoretical and practical matter, which has been discussed in several institutional spheres (PARO, 2003; BORGES, GIUBILEI & OLIVEIRA, 2006. This paper deals with education management and is based on a case study about technical and professional education of agents of Municipal Guard (SILVA, 2005. This kind of education is affected by structural problems in the public institution (SANTOS, 1987 and in the macro judicial system (PINHEIRO, 1997, also being harmed by a process of social and work precariousness (ANTUNES, 1999; 2005. All these aspects represent challenges that have to be overcame. Thus, our propose of democratic professional education management (SILVA, 2005; HELOANI & SILVA, 2006 opposes the bureaucratic and alienating management. It demands listening to the collective subject and assuming a reflexive praxis about the professional activities and the socio-institutional reality. We consider that the challenge of creating a democratic professional management and a critical collective conscience, articulated with innovative actions, is part of a horizon of possibilities, even when it is mediated by institutional, organizational and cultural dimensions (SILVA JÚNIOR & FERRETTI, 2004.

Lutzomyia wellcomei (Fraiha, Shaw & Lainson) (Diptera: Psychodidae) can act as an important vector of Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis This study presents the results of collections carried out in a fragment of Atlantic Forest in a Conservation Unit of Rio Grande do Norte state. Collections occurred over 12 consecutive months using Shannon and CDC traps. A total of 777 sand flies from eight species were collected: Lutzomyia walkeri (Newstead), Lutzomyia evandroi (Costa Lima & Antunes), Lutzomyia wellcomei (Fraiha, Shaw & Lainson), Lutzomyia sordellii (Shannon & Del Ponte), Lutzomyia brasiliensis (Costa Lima), Lutzomyia lenti (Mangabeira), Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva), and Lutzomyia abonnenci (Floch & Chassignet). Lutzomyia wellcomei was the most abundant species using the Shannon trap (97%) and L. walkeri in the CDC trap (81%). It is important to note the abundance of L. wellcomei in Shannon trap collections, which favors the capture of anthropophilic species. Lutzomyia wellcomei was only present in months where rainfall was above 100 mm, confirming it as a species adapted to wetter months. © The Authors 2016. Leishmania (L.) amazonensis (Lainson & Shaw, 1972) and Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis (Vianna, 1911) are the principal causative agents of American tegumentary leishmaniasis (ATL) in Brazil. L. amazonensis also causes diffuse cutaneous leishmaniasis (DCL) vectored principally by Lutzomyia flaviscutellata and secondarily by Lutzomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho, 1939). The latter is the most common phlebotomine in the state of Maranhão, and it is the focal species for potential ATL transmission. For this reason, we tested the ability of L. whitmani to become infected with Lutzomyia parasites. Phlebotomines were derived from a colony maintained in the laboratorial conditions. The first generation, uninfected females were offered a bloodmeal with mice infected with the strains of both parasites. We found that L. whitmani can become infected with both parasite species, with infection rates of 65.2% (L. braziliensis) and 47.4% (L. amazonensis). We conclude that in Maranhão, L. whitmani is likely an important vector in the transmission of ATL and may function as a vector of DCL. Full Text Available RESUMO OBJETIVO: verificar a habilidade de crianças diagnosticadas como autistas ou com Síndrome de Asperger em recontar uma história. MÉTODOS: foram avaliados quatro meninos verbais, com idade entre cinco e dez anos, diagnosticados por equipe multidisciplinar com Autismo Infantil (2 e Síndrome de Asperger (2 e atendidos no Laboratório de Investigação Fonoaudiológica - Transtornos Globais do Desenvolvimento - Departamento de Fonoaudiologia da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP. Foi utilizada a história "Urubu e as pombas", proposta por Golden revisada e adaptada por Antunes e col, que deveria ser reproduzida após a narrativa realizada pela avaliadora. A análise do desempenho lingüístico foi dividida em quantitativa através do número total de sentenças (nodos reproduzidas (14 no total, e qualitativa pelo reconto dos temas centrais da história e a ocorrência de distorções (as alterações que podem ocorrer no reconto da história. RESULTADOS: foi verificado que o número de sentenças reproduzidas foi sete, em média. No entanto, é interessante notar que nem todos os nodos considerados tema central foram recontados. CONCLUSÃO: os resultados sugerem que a habilidade de memória textual evidenciada nos índices de reprodução das orações não foi suficiente para garantir compreensão da história, dada ausência de alguns nodos dos temas centrais no reconto realizado pelos sujeitos.PURPOSE: to check the capacity of story retelling in children with PDD. METHODS: the sample consisted of four verbal boys, 5 to 10-year old, diagnosed in multidisciplinary team with PDD and attended in the Department of Speech Therapy of the Federal University of São Paulo. Dynamical computation of constrained flexible systems using a modal Udwadia-Kalaba formulation: Application to musical instruments.

Most musical instruments consist of dynamical subsystems connected at a number of constraining points through which energy flows. For physical sound synthesis, one important difficulty deals with enforcing these coupling constraints. While standard techniques include the use of Lagrange multipliers or penalty methods, in this paper, a different approach is explored, the Udwadia-Kalaba (U-K) formulation, which is rooted on analytical dynamics but avoids the use of Lagrange multipliers. This general and elegant formulation has been nearly exclusively used for conceptual systems of discrete masses or articulated rigid bodies, namely, in robotics. However its natural extension to deal with continuous flexible systems is surprisingly absent from the literature. Here, such a modeling strategy is developed and the potential of combining the U-K equation for constrained systems with the modal description is shown, in particular, to simulate musical instruments. Objectives are twofold: (1) Develop the U-K equation for constrained flexible systems with subsystems modelled through unconstrained modes; and (2) apply this framework to compute string/body coupled dynamics. This example complements previous work [Debut, Antunes, Marques, and Carvalho, Appl. Acoust. 108, 3-18 (2016)] on guitar modeling using penalty methods. Simulations show that the proposed technique provides similar results with a significant improvement in computational efficiency.

Literature complements medical literature in the academic and clinical development of neurologists. The present article explores the contributions of writers of fiction on neurology. Literary works of fiction with particular reference to neurology. A symbiosis between writers of fiction and doctors has been well recognised. From Shakespeare to Cervantes by way of Dickens and Cela to writer - physicians such as Anton Chekhov or António Lobo Antunes have contributed through their medically informed literature to the better understanding of neurology. Some writers like Dostoevsky, Machado de Assis and Margiad Evans have written about their own experiences with disease thus bringing new insights to medicine. Furthermore, some neurological disorders have been largely based on literary descriptions. For instance, Dostoevsky's epilepsy has been retrospectively analysed by famous neurologists including Freud, Alajouanine or Gastaut, whilst his writings and biography have prompted others like Waxman and Geschwind to describe typical behavioural changes in temporal lobe epilepsy, finding their source of inspiration in Dostoevsky. Likewise, Cirignotta et al have named an unusual type of seizure after the Russian novelist. Inspired by Lewis Carroll, Todd introduced the term Alice in Wonderland Syndrome to refer to visual distortions generally associated with migraine. Writers of fiction offer a humanised perception of disease by contributing new insights into the clinical history, informing about the subjective experience of the illness and helping to eradicate the stigma associated to neurological disorders.

Phlebotomine sand flies are distributed across nearly all faunal regions of the world, represented by over 800 species, of which many are important vectors of human pathogens. Brazil is currently faced with the expansion and urbanization of leishmaniases, with an increase in the numbers of human cases and seropositive dogs in various medium-sized to large cities. The objective of the current study was to survey the phlebotomine sand fly species in an area endemic for American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) and American visceral leishmaniasis (AVL), i.e., the municipal district of Santa Luzia, lying within the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte in the Brazilian State of Minas Gerais. Sand flies were collected monthly in 2004-2005 using modified Falcão light traps hung in the peridomiciles of houses and surrounding wooded areas in the district of Baronesa. A total of 1,552 sand flies belonging to seven species was collected, and an interesting pattern of the distribution of the most abundant species relative to the sampling locality was revealed. In the wooded areas Lutzomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho) predominated, whereas in the urban area Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva) was the most abundant species. These results indicate two possible epidemiological patterns of Leishmania transmission in Santa Luzia: one for American cutaneous leishmaniasis associated predominantly with wooded areas, and another for AVL, with transmission principally occurring around human habitations.

Constipation prevalence in diabetic patients

Full Text Available Objective: the aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of constipation in diabetic patients treated at the endocrinology outpatient clinic at Hospital Universitário Professor Alberto Antunes and PAM Salgadinho, from April to August 2013. Methods: a descriptive and cross-sectional study, carried out through a questionnaire using the Rome III criteria in 372 patients treated at the outpatient endocrinology clinic. Results: of 372 patients evaluated, the frequency of constipation found was 31.2% among diabetic patients. Females predominated in the sample (72.8% as well as for the frequency of constipation (80.2%. The incidence of type II diabetes was 97.3% and it was observed that 80.2% of the sample was older than 50 years. One hundred and twelve patients with inadequate glycemic control (HgA1c ≥ 7 had an association with constipation. Conclusion: there was an increased frequency of constipation in patients with diabetes mellitus according to the Rome III criteria, in relation to the general population. The inadequate glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus increases the frequency of constipation and it is necessary to perform studies that allow the confirmation of this association to demonstrate this hypothesis. Resumo: Objetivo: analisar a prevalência da constipação intestinal em pacientes diabéticos atendidos no ambulatório de endocrinologia do Hospital Universitário Professor Alberto Antunes e no PAM Salgadinho (HUPAA, de abril de 2013 a agosto 2013. Método: estudo descritivo e transversal, realizado através da aplicação de um questionário com os critérios de Roma III no ambulatório de endocrinologia do HUPAA. Full Text Available Os flebotomíneos são os vetores naturais de alguns agentes etiológicos de doenças humanas e de animais, tais como protozoários do gênero Leishmania Ross, 1903. A fauna flebotomínica no Mato Grosso do Sul é relativamente bem conhecida e até o momento compõe-se de 54 espécies. O presente estudo baseia-se no levantamento de flebotomíneos em área urbana de 18 municípios com transmissão de leishmaniose visceral no Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul, com objetivo de verificar as principais espécies e fornecer subsídios para o programa de controle das leishmanioses. As coletas foram realizadas com armadilhas automáticas luminosas, instaladas mensalmente durante três noites consecutivas, das 18:00 horas às 6:00, no período de dois anos. Foram coletadas 36 espécies dentre os 34.799 exemplares identificados. Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva, 1912 e Nyssomyia whitmani (Antunes, 1939 foram as espécies mais dispersas, a primeira foi encontrada em 16 e a segunda em 15 dos 18 municípios investigados, contudo, Lu. longipalpis foi predominante em todos esses municípios Ny. whitmani não predominou em nenhum deles. Corumbá contribuiu com 40.92% de todos flebotomíneos capturados e nesse município Lutzomyia cruzi (Mangabeira, 1938 respondeu por 92.50% dos exemplares coletados. Ressalta-se que as espécies do gênero Lutzomyia e Nyssomyia whitmani podem estar envolvidas com a transmissão de leishmanioses no Mato Grosso do Sul.The phlebotomine sand flies are the natural vectors of some etiological agents of human and animal diseases, such as the protozoa of the genus Leishmania Ross, 1903. Full Text Available O presente artigo problematiza dados de pesquisa realizada em uma cidade do interior do sudeste goiano com o objetivo de perceber como tem se desenvolvido o trabalho com a leitura no 3º ano do Ensino Fundamental I e quais estratégias de leitura são utilizadas no trabalho desenvolvido na sala de aula. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir de uma abordagem qualitativa de caráter etnográfico. Como instrumento de coleta de dados foi realizada uma entrevista semiestruturada e observadas cinco aulas. No âmbito da presente discussão, problematizamos os dados coletados durante as observações. O arcabouço teórico-conceitual das estratégias de leitura é expresso a partir dos estudos de Masetto, Solé, Moura e Martins, Girotto e Souza, Antunes entre outros. Tais estudos destacam o papel do professor na formação de leitores, o qual deve propor estratégias, procedimentos e atividades que facilitem e proporcionem a compreensão em leitura dos alunos. Ao final das análises, o que destacamos é que de cinco aulas voltadas para o ensino de leitura, em duas delas o objetivo principal foi levar os alunos à memorização da ortografia e conteúdo gramatical.  As estratégias de leitura mais utilizadas foram a predição e a inferência.

Full Text Available INTRODUÇÃO: A pré-eclâmpsia responde por alta morbimortalidade no Brasil e no mundo. A sua etiologia ainda não foi totalmente esclarecida. Entre as alterações placentárias na pré-eclâmpsia citam-se: infartos, aumento de nós sinciciais, hipotrofia vilositária, espessamento da membrana basal trofoblástica e deposição de material fibrinoide. OBJETIVO: Analisar quantitativamente imagens do material fibrinoide perivilositário presente em placentas de gestações com e sem pré-eclâmpsia. MATERIAL E MÉTODOS: Foi realizado estudo de caso-controle no Serviço de Anatomia Patológica do Hospital Universitário Professor Alberto Antunes (HUPAA. Realizou-se análise histomorfométrica de 840 imagens provenientes de 14 placentas de gestações com pré-eclâmpsia (casos e 14 placentas de gestações sem pré-eclâmpsia (controles. RESULTADOS: A média da área do material fibrinoide no grupo pré-eclâmpsia foi de 168,46 pixels, e no grupo sem pré-eclâmpsia, de 89,63 pixels. Foi observada uma quantidade menor da área total dos núcleos na pré-eclâmpsia, 89,51 pixels, do que no grupo controle, 113,34 pixels. CONCLUSÃO: Nas placentas de gestações com pré-eclâmpsia a área ocupada pelo material fibrinoide está aumentada em 1,8 vez em comparação com as placentas de gestações normais. As áreas dos núcleos e citoplasmas foram maiores no grupo controle. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa quanto à área do estroma. Observou-se também redução do espaço ocupado pelas vilosidades na pré-eclâmpsia, sendo este fato compatível com hipotrofia vilositária.INTRODUCTION: Preeclampsia is responsible for high maternal mortality in Brazil and worldwide. Full Text Available Este trabalho visa refletir acerca da relação dialética entre educação e trabalho, inserido no contexto de Mundialização do Capital e seus rebatimentos na qualificação profissional dos trabalhadores. Para tanto, o presente estudo é uma pesquisa bibliográfica, cujas leituras têm como núcleo central a relação entre trabalho e educação a partir de uma perspectiva histórico-dialética. Destacamos que o aporte teórico deste estudo é subsidiado pelo pensamento de Chesnais (1996, Alves (1999, Antunes (2010, Cunha (2000 e Ramos (2002. Consideramos que a relação entre educação e trabalho no contexto de Mundialização do Capital é resignificada, uma vez que no processo de Internacionalização do Capital ocorre uma remodelagem do espaço produtivo a nível mundial, além do acirramento da concentração de riqueza, acarretando na concorrência entre os trabalhadores e na exigência por qualificação profissional de acordo com as demandas do mercado de trabalho.  Essa processualidade atinge profundamente a educação profissional brasileira, cujos rebatimentos recaem na priorização de uma formação pautada na flexibilidade e na polivalência, de modo a atender as exigências da globalização e da crise do emprego.

The mammalian gut contains a complex assembly of commensal microbes termed microbiota. Although much has been learned about the role of these microbes in health, the mechanisms underlying these functions are ill defined. We have recently shown that the mammalian gut contains thousands of small molecules, most of which are currently unidentified. Therefore, we hypothesized that these molecules function as chemical cues used by hosts and microbes during their interactions in health and disease. Thus, a search was initiated to identify molecules produced by the microbiota that are sensed by pathogens. We found that a secreted molecule produced by clostridia acts as a strong repressor of Salmonella virulence, obliterating expression of the Salmonella pathogenicity island 1 as well as host cell invasion. It has been known for decades that the microbiota protects its hosts from invading pathogens, and these data suggest that chemical sensing may be involved in this phenomenon. Further investigations should reveal the exact biological role of this molecule as well as its therapeutic potential. Importance: Microbes can communicate through the production and sensing of small molecules. Within the complex ecosystem formed by commensal microbes living in and on the human body, it is likely that these molecular messages are used extensively during the interactions between different microbial species as well as with host cells. Deciphering such a molecular dialect will be fundamental to our understanding of host-microbe interactions in health and disease and may prove useful for the design of new therapeutic strategies that target these mechanisms of communication. Full Text Available Esse texto é o relato da pesquisa que empreendi quando realizava o curso de Mestrado em História Social na Universidade Estadual de Londrina. Iniciei a pesquisa estudando o romance Nove noites de Bernardo Carvalho, embrenhei-me pelo labirinto de suas vozes narrativas e envolvi-me na discussão a respeito de sua metaficcionalidade. Em seguida, analisei teses acadêmicas que focalizavam tais metaficções. Queria visualizar o discurso acadêmico acerca da literatura contemporânea, perceber se tais trabalhos poderiam ser classificados como metaficcionais. Ao ler as teses, porém, descobri António Lobo Antunes. Autor de vários romances, esse português começou sua produção literária com Memória de elefante, cuja trama se desenrola ao longo do dia de um psiquiatra que encontra na linguagem a possibilidade de transformar o mundo. Quando pensava finalmente ter encontrado minha fonte histórica, um episódio casual, o encontro com um livro, mudou a direção de minha pesquisa. Escrito pelo filósofo Peter Sloterdijk, A árvore mágica conta a história do magnetismo animal; é “uma tentativa épica com relação à filosofia da psicologia.” O presente texto, por ser um relato do percurso da pesquisa de fontes, termina no momento em que descobri esse romance e pude delimitar o assunto a ser tratado em meu texto dissertativo.

Resumo. As leishmanioses podem afetar seres humanos e animais nas formas visceral e tegumentar. A forma tegumentar tem sido associada, entre outras espécies, a Lutzomyia wellcomei Fraiha, Shaw & Lainson, inicialmente encontrado na região amazônica. O estudo se baseou em coletas mensais de janeiro a dezembro em um fragmento de Mata Atlântica e em um ambiente peridomiciliar, com armadilhas luminosas CDC. Esse é o primeiro estudo sistematizado sobre essa espécie no Rio Grande do Norte. Os insetos foram identificados e analisados em relação às chuvas no local. Alguns espécimes de L. wellcomei foram metalizados sob fita de carbono, visualizados e fotografados em microscópio eletrônico de varredura. A espécie mais abundante na área de mata foi Lutzomyia walkeri Newstead seguida por L. wellcomei. Do total capturado no ambiente de mata e no peridomicílio, cerca de 8% corresponde a L. wellcomei, sendo esta a espécie predominante no ambiente de mata no período chuvoso. Flebotomíneos L. wellcomei não foram capturados em ambiente peridomiciliar. Na mata essa espécie foi encontrada juntamente às espécies Lutzomyia whitmani Antunes & Coutinho e Lutzomyia intermedia Lutz & Neiva. Machos e fêmeas Lutzomyia longipalpis Lutz & Neiva foram predominantes no ambiente peridomiciliar. A análise microscópica da morfologia externa de L. wellcomei revela detalhes da cabeça de machos e fêmeas.

Full Text Available Neste estudo busca-se propor uma reflexão sobre o processo de formação educacional do profissional em Secretariado Executivo, visando a identificar as transformações ocorridas no âmbito do trabalho e suas implicações em um contexto globalizado. Para tanto, aborda-se as questões relacionadas com a evolução educacional da mulher, bem como se apresentam alguns aspectos do trabalho feminino tais como: dupla jornada de trabalho, remuneração diferenciada por gênero, qualificação profissional e principalmente o enfoque dado ao processo de trabalho nos países centrais, semiperiféricos e periféricos, afetados pelo processo de globalização. Este trabalho de base bibliográfica apresenta como principais pressupostos teóricos os estudos da Mulher e a Educação abordados por Pimentel (1998, Valdéz & Gomariz, (1995; o Histórico da Mão-de-obra Feminina na visão de Antunes, (2000, Munhoz, (2000; e, por fim, a Globalização e seus efeitos abordados pelos autores Hobsbawn, (2000, Forrester, (1997, entre outros. Os resultados do estudo apontam que o profissional em Secretariado Executivo, apesar de que todos os preconceitos e dificuldades enfrentadas ao longo de décadas e principalmente pelos efeitos da globalização, têm conquistado espaços próprios no mercado de trabalho e vem procurando constante aperfeiçoamento educacional notadamente por meio de cursos superiores objetivando melhorar, cada vez mais, sua qualificação profissional.

Phlebotomines (Diptera, Psychodidae in caves of the Serra da Bodoquena, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil

Full Text Available The present paper deals with the phlebotomine species captured during the period from January 1998 to June 2000 in 12 caves located in the Serra da Bodoquena, situated in the south central region of Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil. Three of the caves are situated further north (in Bodoquena county, seven in the central area (Bonito county and two in the south (Jardim county. These last two caves and three of those in Bonito are located at the west side of the ridge. Eighteen species of phlebotomines were captured within the caves: Brumptomyia avellari (Costa Lima, 1932, Brumptomyia brumpti (Larrousse, 1920, Brumptomyia cunhai (Mangabeira, 1942, Brumptomyia galindoi (Fairchild & Hertig, 1947, Evandromyia corumbaensis (Galati, Nunes, Oshiro & Rego, 1989, Lutzomyia almerioi Galati & Nunes, 1999, Lutzomyia longipalpis (Lutz & Neiva, 1912, Martinsmyia oliveirai (Martins, Falcão & Silva, 1970, Micropygomyia acanthopharynx (Martins, Falcão & Silva, 1962, Micropygomyia peresi (Mangabeira, 1942, Micropygomyia quinquefer (Dyar, 1929, Nyssomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho, 1939, Psathyromyia campograndensis (Oliveira, Andrade-Filho, Falcão & Brazil, 2001, Psathyromyia punctigeniculata (Floch & Abonnenc, 1944, Psathyromyia shannoni (Dyar, 1929, Pintomyia kuscheli (Le Pont, Martinez, Torrez-Espejo & Dujardin, 1998, Sciopemyia sordellii (Shannon & Del Ponte, 1927 and Sciopemyia sp. A total of 29,599 phlebotomine sandflies was obtained. Lutzomyia almerioi was absolutely predominant (91.5% over the other species on both sides of the Bodoquena ridge, with the exception of the southern caves in which it was absent. It presents summer predominance, with nocturnal and diurnal activities. The species breeds in the caves and was captured during daytime both in the dark area and in the mouth of the caves. Full Text Available Este artigo apresenta os resultados do projeto de pesquisa intitulado Edificando conhecimentos: da notícia à poesia. O estudo empreendido e os dados apresentados corroboram para a ideia de que a transposição de um gênero textual para outro favorece a capacidade do discente de assimilar o sentido da palavra, usá-la de forma criativa e dominar, com segurança, a estrutura de determinados gêneros textuais. Ao longo deste trabalho, busca-se, então, refletir acerca das atividades de leitura e escrita em sala de aula, com ênfase na importância dos conhecimentos teóricos sobre gêneros textuais e a produção de texto para a organização de uma didática consciente. E, assim, realizar melhores intervenções no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, o que caracteriza o método de investigação denominado pesquisa-ação, conforme Thiollent (2002 e Gressler (2003. A análise dos dados se pautou numa abordagem quantitativo-qualitativa fundamentada em Serrano (1994, Larsen-Freeman e Long (1994; nos estudos de Paixão (1991 sobre poesia; no construto teórico sobre gêneros, fundado por Bakhtin (2000, discutido e aplicado ao ensino de Língua Portuguesa, no contexto do ensino médio, por Bonini (2002 e Marcuschi (1996 e outros que tratam de maneira geral sobre o trabalho com os gêneros na escola, como Cassany (2008, Brasil (2006, 1999, Paulino et al (2001 e Antunes (2003. Os resultados proporcionaram a oportunidade de vivenciar as particularidades do ensino de leitura e escrita no Curso Técnico Integrado em Edificações e perceber as dificuldades apresentadas pelos discentes e os desafios configurados aos docentes.

Full Text Available During two consecutive years, from January 1985 to December 1986, a comparative study of mosquitoes preferences for breeding habitat was carried out in the Atlantic Forest of the Serra do Mar, Paraná State, Brazil. To achieve it, 1875 bamboo internodes aligned vertically in live green, bamboo plants Merostachys speciosa Munro and Merostachys sp. were used, in which metabolic water was exuded from the plant itself, and presenting different size/pattern holes at their lateral walls, bored by the local sylvan fauna. Another group of 1200 individual internode traps was used as comparative element, carved out with a transversal cut by a saw, filled with local stream water and held in branches at different heights in the vegetal strata nearby. At both microhabitat types, a total of 17 culicid species was registered. Culex (Microculex neglectus Lutz, 1904, Cx. (Carrollia soperi Antunes & Lane, 1937, Sabethes (Sabethes batesi Lane & Cerqueira, 1942 and Sa. (Sabethinus melanonymphe (Dyar, 1924colonized exclusively live plant internodes, while Culex (Microculex elongatus Rozeboom & Lane, 1950, Cx. (Carrollia iridescens (Lutz, 1905, Cx. (Carrollia kompi Valencia,1973and Trichoprosopon (Trichoprosopon soaresi Dyar & Knab, 1907 bred only in internode traps. The remaining nine species colonized both habitats indistinctly. Quantitatively, was detected the abundance of 60.1% at live green internodes, against 39.9% for internode traps. Concerning the different patterns of bored live internode holes, 40.3% of the total computed specimens were collected in square or rectangular holes, 31.9% in two hole internodes, one minute circular, the other wider, and the remaining 28.8% of specimens distributed in other pattern type internodes. The mosquitoes breeding at these microhabitats fall in the culicid entomofauna specialized at locating and detecting peculiar and propitious mesogen conditions for breeding purposes.

Flebotomíneos coletados em matas remanescentes e abrigos de animais silvestres de zoológico no perímetro urbano de Maringá, sul do Brasil. Full Text Available Um caso de leishmaniose tegumentar com provável infecção em uma das áreas de matas remanescentes no perímetro urbano de Maringá, Paraná, Brasil, o desconhecimento da fauna e do comportamento de flebotomíneos nestas matas despertaram o interesse desta investigação. Os flebotomíneos foram coletados com armadilhas de Falcão instaladas em matas remanescentes do Parque do Ingá, Bosque Dois e Horto Florestal, de junho a setembro de 1995, no período noturno. Nestas áreas coletaram-se 3.532 flebotomíneos, prevalecendo Lutzomyia (Nyssomyia whitmani (Antunes & Coutinho, 1939 com 3.395 (96,1% exemplares. No Parque do Ingá, onde as coletas também foram feitas em abrigos de animais silvestres, mantidos em zoológico, foram coletados 2.907 flebotomíneos, dos quais 1.723 nestes abrigos. Os resultados mostram melhor adaptação de Lutzomyia whitmani nas matas remanescentes no perímetro urbano de Maringá e sua freqüência nos abrigos dos animais silvestres mantidos em cativeiro.The present study was undertaken after the detection of one case of cutaneous leishmaniasis with presumed infection in one of the three remaining wooded areas in the urban area of the city of Maringá, Southern Brazil; also in view of the lack of knowledge about sand flies and their behavior. From June to September, 1995, sand flies were caught with Falcão traps during the night in the remaining wooded areas (Parque do Ingá, Bosque Dois and Horto Florestal. A total of 2,907 sand flies were caugth in Parque do Ingá; 1,723 of them were aught in forest traps and 1,184 in wild animal shelter traps at the zoo. The results show that Lutzomyia whitmani is better adapted to the three areas under study and that it frequently occurs in wild animal shelters within the urban perimeter of Maringá.

The major risk factor for COPD development is cigarette smoke, and the most efficient treatment for COPD is smoking cessation. However, even after smoking cessation, inflammation, apoptosis, and oxidative stress may persist and continue contributing to disease progression. Although current therapies for COPD (primarily based on anti-inflammatory agents contribute to the reduction of airway obstruction and minimize COPD exacerbations, none can avoid disease progression or reduce mortality. Within this context, recent advances in mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC therapy have made this approach a strong candidate for clinical use in the treatment of several pulmonary diseases. MSCs can be readily harvested from diverse tissues and expanded with high efficiency, and have strong immunosuppressive properties. Preclinical studies have demonstrated encouraging outcomes of MSCs therapy for lung disorders, including emphysema. These findings instigated research groups to assess the impact of MSCs in human COPD/emphysema, but clinical results have fallen short of expectations. However, MSCs have demonstrated a good adjuvant role in the clinical scenario. Full Text Available O presente artigo apresenta os resultados de uma dissertação de mestrado em educação, realizada entre janeiro de 2004 a dezembro de 2006, sobre o processo de organização político-sindical dos profissionais da educação em Santa Catarina, mais particularmente no Oeste de Santa Catarina. O propósito fundamental desta pesquisa foi descrever a trajetória das lutas empreendidas pela categoria no período entre 1988 e 2006. Tomando como referência os mais importantes trabalhos sobre organização sindical no Brasil, desenvolvidos por Ricardo Antunes, Armando Boito, Leôncio Martins Rodrigues e outros, este trabalho descreve os processos de organização político-sindical dos docentes no Oeste de Santa Catarina. Por meio da pesquisa documental e das técnicas de memória oral, procurou-se conhecer as experiências vivenciadas pelos dirigentes sindicais envolvidos nesse processo. A investigação demonstrou que a organização política dos professores em Santa Catarina chegou ao seu ápice com a criação do Sindicato dos Trabalhadores em Educação (Sinte, em 1998, finalizando a forte tradição assistencialista alimentada pela Associação Catarinense dos Professores (ACP e a Associação dos Licenciados de Santa Catarina (Alisc, fundadas, respectivamente, em 1952 e 1966. O Sinte fortaleceu politicamente a categoria e foi decisivo para a conquista de inúmeros direitos trabalhistas para a categoria docente em Santa Catarina. A pesquisa mostra, também, que a partir da segunda metade dos anos 90 o movimento político-sindical dos professores começa a enfrentar dificuldades de mobilização e inicia um processo gradativo de enfraquecimento e deslegitimação, inclusive entre os professores e a comunidade escolar. O sindicalismo de luta foi substituído pelo de negociação.

Incidência de disfunção sexual em pacientes com obesidade e sobrepeso

Full Text Available OBJETIVO: avaliar a prevalência de disfunção sexual em pacientes com obesidade e sobrepeso atendidos no Hospital Universitário Professor Alberto Antunes (HUPAA - UFAL. MÉTODOS: trata-se de um estudo descritivo transversal. A amostra foi constituída por pacientes do sexo feminino com sobrepeso ou obesidade. Foram coletados os dados antropométricos para avaliação do índice de massa corporal (IMC e da circunferência da cintura (CC. Em todos os indivíduos foi realizada a avaliação dos níveis séricos de glicose, colesterol total e triglicerídeos. Aplicou-se a versão validada em português do Índice de Função Sexual Feminina (IFSF, que analisa a resposta sexual quanto a desejo, excitação, lubrificação vaginal, orgasmo, satisfação sexual e dor. O escore total é a soma dos escores para cada domínio multiplicada pelo fator correspondente e pode variar de '2' a '36', considerando risco para disfunção sexual um escore total menor ou igual a '26'. RESULTADOS: foram avaliadas 23 mulheres com média de idade de 44 anos, onde 73,9% eram obesas e 82,6% apresentaram risco muito aumentado para complicações metabólicas (CC e"88cm. O risco aumentado para disfunção sexual esteve presente em 78,3% das entrevistadas, ocasionando prejuízos biopsicossociais. HAS, DM e dislipidemia estavam presentes em 33,3%, 22,2% e 61,1%, respectivamente, das pacientes sob risco para disfunção sexual. CONCLUSÃO: a análise dos resultados demonstra a necessidade de uma melhor investigação e atenção dos médicos para com pacientes com obesidade ou sobrepeso.

Full Text Available O ensino de produção textual tem sido amplamente estudado por diversos autores interessados em compreender as concepções teóricas que norteiam as práticas pedagógicas dos docentes de língua materna nas aulas de produção. Desse modo, práticas que concebem a produção de texto como um produto (e não como um processo que requer diferentes etapas são desveladas a partir das pesquisas realizadas por diferentes autores em todo o país. O trabalho que ora apresentamos inscreve-se no rol dessas pesquisas, a partir do momento em que lança um olhar no sentido de compreender a perspectiva dita tradicional de produção de texto que, muitas vezes, prevalece na maior parte nas aulas de produção, bem como entender os efeitos que provêm dessa prática. Para tanto, interessa-nos discutir a concepção de produção de texto subjacente à obra literária “Minhas férias, pula uma linha, parágrafo” de Christiane Gribel. Nessa obra, a autora registra os dilemas de um garoto que retorna às aulas e precisa escrever a famosa redação, cujo título já se cristalizou como uma espécie de clichê: minhas férias. A obra traz à tona um debate acerca da percepção sobre a produção textual como uma atividade que não cumpre uma função sociocomunicativa, esvaziada de sentido, de modo que os textos produzidos pelos discentes não possuem leitores reais. Dessa maneira, procuraremos travar um diálogo entre a prática de produção que emerge da obra analisada e as concepções teóricas de autores como Bakhtin (2011 enfocando a noção de gênero discursivo, Marcuschi (2010, Bunzen (2006, Antunes (2003; 2006; 2009, Geraldi (2001, os PCN (2001, dentre outros. A partir da análise da obra, convém propor um direcionamento para a produção textual que leve em consideração a natureza sócio-histórica, discursiva e dialógica da linguagem, abarcando, pois, o estudo e a produção dos diferentes gêneros textuais existentes nas mais variadas

A partir de um breve histórico dessa construção apontamos as principais demandas de educação escolar nas comunidades indígenas Guarani Mbyá no Estado, buscando compreender quem são estes sujeitos, de onde falam, a forma com que se relacionam e pensam a organização do tempo escolar a partir de sua própria concepção de educação. Discutiremos de que forma a interculturalidade pode se fazer presente na construção de um currículo decolonial, que valorize diferentes saberes em sua concepção. Neste intuito, consideramos essencial uma análise da vulnerabilidade social dessas comunidades para que as ações educativas sejam planejadas para fortalecimento intracultural, proporcionando assim a construção de bases para um interculturalismo crítico. Para discutir essa temática dialogaremos com autores do campo da Modernidade, Colonialidade e do interculturalismo crítico, de forma que possamos refletir sobre o atendimento realizado nas comunidades guarani e as necessidades existentes. Consideramos necessário garantir que os conhecimentos Guarani Mbya sejam os condutores do processo educativo e que sejam reconhecidos como saberes/conhecimentos válidos. Compreendemos que fortalecendo as relações intraculturais, ou seja, valorizando e estimulando a temporalidade guarani, pesquisas e vivências entre as comunidades, podemos minimizar os impactos da vulnerabilidade social empoderando esses sujeitos para um diálogo intercultural igualitário, na perspectiva de uma educação libertadora. Full Text Available The aim of writing this article is to analyze how the articles published by Zenith magazine (1921-1926 reflected the role of modern music within the framework of Zenithism - a movement relating to Dadaism and Futurism. The founder of the movement Ljubomir Micić and the Croatian composer Josip Slavenski both settled in Serbia and shared similar views concerning the Zenithist role of art. They sought to create a novel artistic expression free from Western influence, rooted in primitive and intrinsic creative forces of Eastern, and more specifically, Balkan peoples. Nevertheless, the intellectual sophistication and radicalism of their ideas differed somewhat whereas Micić was inclined towards experiment and provocation (i.e. his announcement of a Balkan "Barbarogenius", Slavenski's aim was to revise and transform the archaisms preserved in old layers of folk music (primarily that of the Balkans, thus yielding an original modernist language. When in 1924 Micić moved from Zagreb to Belgrade, Slavenski was already there, only to leave for Paris in winter of the same year and remain there until the following summer. This may explain Slavenski's single contribution to Zenith, a piece composed before he met Micić. Zenith's articles on music included a positive account of Prokofiev, whose works were seen as representative of the movement's intentions. The article was an abridged translation of Igor Glebov's (pseudonym of Boris Asafiev text printed in V'ešč (in German. Micić himself was the author of another contribution - a concert review, which served as an opportunity to express his views on contemporary music, one being an appraisal of Stravinsky whose music was felt to correspond to Zenithist aesthetics. He was labeled a musical 'Cubist', who composed music of 'paradox and simultaneity'. PBF and fat-free mass (FFM were determined by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. The investigated inflammatory parameters were interleukin 6 and C-reactive protein.Results: Twenty-five percent of the elderly women were classified as normal weight, 50% overweight, and 25% obese by the BMI. The obese group had higher levels of triglycerides and very low-density lipoproteins than did the normal weight group (P≤0.05 and lower levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDL than did the overweight group (P≤0.05. According to the PBF, 49% of the elderly women were classified as eutrophic, 28% overweight, and 23% obese. In the binomial logistic regression analyses including age, FFM, and lipid profile, only FFM (odds ratio [OR]=0.809, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.739–0.886; P<0.0005 proved to be a predictor of reaching the eutrophic state by the BMI. Full Text Available OBJETIVO: Avaliar os resultados da esofagectomia trans-hiatal no tratamento do megaesôfago chagásico avançado. MÉTODO: Foram estudados retrospectivamente 28 pacientes portadores de megaesôfago chagásico avançado (MCA, graus III e IV, segundo a classificação radiológica de Rezende (adotada pela Organização Mundial de Saúde, e que foram submetidos à esofagectomia subtotal trans-hiatal no Serviço de Clínica Cirúrgica do Hospital Universitário Prof. Alberto Antunes (HUPAA da Universidade Federal de Alagoas, entre 1982 e 2000. Foram analisadas, as seguintes variáveis: A Queixas clínicas pré-operatórias versus as pós-operatórias (disfagia, regurgitação, pirose, diarréia, dumping, plenitude pós-prandial, pneumonia e o estado ponderal. B avaliação radiológica pós-operatória da boca anastomótica esofagogástrica cervical e do estômago transposto. C avaliação endoscópica pós-operatória do coto esofágico e da boca anastomótica. RESULTADOS: O seguimento variou de 4 a 192 meses, média de 58,18 meses. Dezesseis pacientes eram do sexo feminino e 12 masculinos. Idade mínima de 16 e máxima de 67 anos, média de 36,5 anos. Não houve mortalidade nesta série. Houve resolução plena da disfagia na maioria dos pacientes (20/28 - 71,4%, um (3,6% referiu disfagia leve que não necessitou tratamento e 7/28 (25% necessitaram de uma ou mais sessões de dilatação. Nenhum necessitou de dilatação permanente. A pirose foi o sintoma mais importante no seguimento tardio (35,7%, seguida da regurgitação (25%, diarréia (14,3%, plenitude pós-prandial (10,7% e dumping (3,6%. Houve ganho ponderal em 87,5% dos pacientes avaliados. A esofagite no coto esofágico foi o achado endoscópico mais significativo (46,4%. O esôfago de Barrett no coto remanescente foi encontrada em 10,7% dos casos. A maioria dos achados radiológicos foi normal, embora três doentes (10,7% tenham apresentado estase gástrica. Full Text Available OBJETIVOS: Diagnosticar a presença do HPV anorretal em portadoras dessa afecção no trato genital inferior, através do exame coloproctológico com anuscopia de alta resolução. MÉTODOS: Estudo observacional e transversal realizado através de um protocolo de pesquisa, no Hospital Universitário da UFAL de Fevereiro a Julho de 2008, analisando 57 mulheres com diagnóstico prévio de infecção genital por HPV submetendo-as a uma avaliação através da anuscopia de alta resolução. RESULTADOS: A idade média variou de 31,2 anos, seis pacientes eram gestantes, 59,6% cursaram apenas o 1º grau, 73,7% tinham união estável; A idade média de menarca foi 12,6 anos e a sexarca de 17 anos. Em relação ao número de parceiros sexuais, 33,3% tiveram 2 a 3 parceiros; 68,6% apresentaram lesão intraepitelial genital de baixo grau (LGSIL, CONCLUSÕES: 89,5% não apresentavam lesões e 10,5% apresentavam através da anuscopia de alta resolução(AAR lesões sub-clínicas perianal, vulvar e vaginal. É possível e viável ao especialista incorporar o exame de anuscopia de alta resolução para diagnóstico de HPV ano-retal na forma subclínica à sua rotina, já que é de simples execução, barato e a doença acomete pacientes sem lesões visíveis ao exame proctológico.AIM: To diagnose the presence of anorectal HPV in women with lower genital tract lesions, through rectal examination with High Resolution Anuscopy. Full Text Available Configuram uma das maiores questões geradas pela .surdez, o impacto sobre o desenvolvimento linguístico individual e suas implicações pedagógicas no processo de apropriação do Português escrito como segunda língua (L2. Considerando, portanto, que indivíduos surdos não apresentam, e não utilizam exatamente as mesmas ferramentas características de construção textual empregadas por um ouvinte, este trabalho visa refletir sobre o continuum de aprendizagem da leitura e da escrita percorrido por esses sujeitos e a crucialidade de ·sua automação. A relevância desse estudo não reside somente no fato de que a escrita se traduz como instrumento de comunicação ímpar em sociedades grafocêntricas como a brasileira, mas também como modalidade indispensável aos surdos no amplo acesso à rede de informação disponível e ao convívio social em um contexto bilíngue. Nesse sentido, o foco central desta pesquisa volta-se para a análise dos aspectos " ,,_ . " coesivos observados nas produções escritas de surdos, no intuito de investigar a maneira pela qual tendem estabelecer coesão e p rogres- ,., , . . ,,,, sao . top1ca em suas compos1çoes tão incompreendidas. O estudo dos nexos coesivos nos textos analisados e dos possíveis mecanismos utilizados para assegurar referencialidade e progressão se desenvolve a partir do conceito teórico de continuidade tópica descrita por Givón (1983 e de Cadeia Coesiva descrita por Antunes (1996. O corpus deste trabalho constitui-se de textos -produzidos por alunos surdos profundos, em estágios variados de automação do Português (L2, cuja fluência em Libras mostra-se evidente. relativa, destacando-se no Capítulo XIV a determinação do trabalho produtivo como essencialmente produtor de mais-valia (MARX, 1988, p. 101. Em texto anterior, Tumolo (1996 havia enfrentado a temática do trabalho como princípio educativo, contrapondo autores que abordaram a questão da centralidade do trabalho como categoria analítica.  A hipótese do autor é a de que no enfrentamento dos detratores da centralidade do trabalho, autores como Ricardo Antunes padeceriam da “falta de radicalidade”, devido ao fato de não incluírem a categoria de trabalho produtivo em suas análises, limitando-se às categorias trabalho concreto e trabalho abstrato (idem, p. 54. Porém, se no primeiro texto o autor se limitou ao desenvolvimento da categoria de trabalho produtivo para a sustentação da inviabilidade da tese do trabalho como principio educativo, no texto apresentado na 24º Encontro da Anped, Tumolo é um pouco mais ousado em sua crítica, questionando se devido à impossibilidade do trabalho ser um principio educativo, seja na sociedade capitalista, seja na sociedade comunista, não seria o “prazer de viver” o principio educativo, já que tendencialmente a necessidade do trabalho seria minimizada (TUMOLO, 2001, p. 256. Saviani se apoia no Capítulo VI inédito de O Capital para afirmar o trabalho educativo constitui-se em uma modalidade de trabalho não material cujo produto não se separa da produção (MARX, s/d, p. 119.

part of the refrigeration system in dairy and cheese factory 'Antun Bohnec' in the city of Ludbreg in Croatia. Experimental findings were compared to the simulation model. The software 'BankaLeda' presents a strong optimization tool for designers and engineers in the field by providing a high degree of freedom in defining particular system design and operating parameters. It offers a basis for assessment and testing of a new energy efficient system arrangements and measures. Besides it will give decision makers the ability to test potential solutions in the process of CTES system design. In the second part of the thesis ice slurry pressure drop and heat transfer in horizontal straight tubes have been experimentally investigated. In particular a mixture of 10.3 % of ethanol and water with an initial freezing point of -4.4 deg C was considered. It was found that the behaviour of ice slurry flow is changing with time and that ice slurry pressure drop is generally higher than for single phase flow. However for ice concentrations of 15 % and higher, for certain velocities ice slurry pressure drop is found to be of a similar value as for single phase fluid. Moreover, if ice slurry is to be used as a energy transport media it is recommended to keep the ice mass fraction at a level of 20 %. With tube geometry and thermophysical properties of a carrier fluid the heat transfer of ice slurry is generally a function of ice mass fraction and velocity. The imposed heat flux has no or has just minor influence on the heat transfer coefficient. Up to ice mass fraction between 10-15 % the mean heat transfer coefficient shows only slight (laminar flow) or no increase (turbulent flow) in comparison to single phase flow. Beyond that ice mass fraction the heat transfer coefficient is increasing significantly. Croatian musical writers such as Lujo Šafranek-Kavić, Božidar Širola and Antun Dobronić. Their articles described activities of the Croatian National Theatre and evaluated new works of Croatian composers. But they were not at all remiss about acknowledging great masterpieces of European music being performed in Zagreb in their day, either. The works of Claude Debussy, Pelléas et Mélisande; Ludwig van Beethoven, Missa solemnis Richard Wagner, Lohengrin were also followed through reviews, albeit within a curious Croatian-paradigm of musical history which included musical and dramatic theatre from Ljubljana, Zagreb, Split, Sarajevo, Skoplje, Osijek. In other words, they seem to have been aware of the cultural differences without ignoring what from them were shared in common. Before the First World War, SLM classified Bulgarians together with Serbs, Croats and Slovenians, as the future "Yugoslav nation". When the reality of politics clouded their vision, the Magazine’s musical critics nevertheless pursued a troupe of Bulgarian performers to visit Belgrade, and thus added to their repertoire from works of Bulgarian composers. Among musical contributors to the journal were the eminently known "Yugoslavs", Dr Miloje Milojević (1884 - 1946 and Dr Viktor Novak (1889 - 1977. From Croatia and Slovenia musicians Juro Tkalčić and Ćiril Ličar, Milojević spoke about "our national artists" and praised musicians who, in their program, included compositions of "all Yugoslav nations". Dr Novak demanded that Belgrade become the musical capital of South Slavs, and invited Belgrade Opera to show on its scene the best Serbian, Croatian and Slovenian operas and ballets. From its onset, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was burdened by heavy political and economical problems. That would also lead to bitter dispute about Yugoslavian ideology. Full Text Available A alteração do quadro legal de formação de professores e educadores ocorreu num contexto de desenvolvimento de dinâmicas de globalização hegemónica (Santos, 2001. Neste contexto o Estado-nação tem perdido centralidade, emergindo entidades económico-políticas regionais de natureza supranacional na tentativa de os estados ampliarem a sua influência nas dinâmicas de globalização (Jessop, 2005. A União Europeia, forma avançada de “Estado em rede” (Castells, 2007, apresenta-se como a configuração institucional mais desenvolvida e tem afirmado um papel crescente nas políticas sociais, e. g., a educação (Moutsios, 2009. No processo de transnacionalização da educação certas organizações internacionais e supranacionais têm ganho crescente relevo, e. g. Organização Mundial do Comércio (OMC ou a Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Económico (OCDE. Neste âmbito, e cujo mandato contempla funções regulatórias, destaca-se a União Europeia (UE. No seio da UE os programas de educação e formação incluem as iniciativas no contexto da plataforma intergovernamental Processo de Bolonha (Conselho da União Europeia, 2009a. Neste contexto têm vindo a ser adotadas medidas consideradas chave para estruturar o Espaço Europeu de Educação Superior (EEES (Bergen, 2005, como a definição do Sistema Europeu de Acumulação e Transferência de Créditos (ECTS, acompanhada da adoção de um sistema único de graus, com a (sugestão de adoção do modelo anglo-saxónico, na modalidade 3 + 2 anos, i. é, 180 + 120 ects, nos dois primeiros ciclos, e a implementação de um sistema de avaliação garantidor de qualidade e acreditação, com base em entidades e procedimentos que se desejam articulados nacional e transnacionalmente (Antunes, 2008. In this context, evaluating these actions is an essential factor to determine their performance, efficacy and behavior in oral health services and, based on the references produced, meet the needs for public policies that generate oral health promotion in primary care. In the current issue of the Revista Brasileira em Promoção da Saúde - RBPS (Brazilian Journal in Health Promotion, two papers discuss the evaluation of actions aimed at promotion and prevention in oral health. One of them verifies the habits of oral hygiene and the oral hygiene index in schoolchildren, while the other evaluates the efficacy of oral hygiene instructions, particularly in the control of dental biofilm. Um dos artigos verifica os hábitos de higiene bucal e o índice de higiene oral em escolares, enquanto o outro avalia a eficácia das instruções de higiene oral, em particular no controle do biofilme dentário. Na presente década, os desafios biocronoestratigráficos são imensos, passando pela necessidade de melhoria de resolução em seções de recuperaçãofossilífera tradicionalmente baixa, como o Albiano carbonático da margem sudeste, intervalo onde importantes acumulações de hidrocarbonetos vêm sendo descobertas, às tentativas de datações radiométricas em rochas sedimentares (isótopos de Rb/Sr e matéria orgânica (isótopos de Re/Os, para a calibração geocronológica das biozonas brasileiras. O desenvolvimento e a implantação rotineira de novas metodologias para o Mesozóico-Cenozóico marinho, como os radiolários e ostracodes marinhos, constituem-se em outro importante desafio. Estes estudos, iniciados por técnicos da empresa (Viviers et al, 2000, estão em pleno desenvolvimento junto às universidades brasileiras, através de projetos e contratos de serviços.

Estas rochas metabasálticas - que hospedam uma série de corpos metaplutônicos, na maioria das vezes de idade paleoproterozóica -, apesar de sua íntima proximidade com as rochas do GBB, com as quais exibem um contato brusco e, aparentemente, controlado por falha, caracteristicamente, não apresentam associadas rochas vulcânicas ultramáficas e sedimentares metamorfisadas. No entanto, apesar deste, localmente, forte contraste na litologia, os dados mais significativos neste estudo mostram que a fácies anfibolito baixo a médio e a paragênese retrógrada de fácies xisto verde alto, presentes nessas rochas metabasálticas estão intimamente correlacionadas, assim como, temporalmente relacio- 42 Anuário do Instituto de Geociências - UFRJ Volume 24 / 2001 nadas àquelas encontradas nos anfibolitos associados com rochas metassedimentares e metakomatiíticas do GBB, não muito distantes da área deste trabalho. Isso, portanto, favorece a conclusão de que as rochas metabasálticas em questão devem, também, ser pensadas nesta área como parte do Greenstone Belt Barbacena. Com o objetivo de caracterizar os sedimentos do Cretáceo médio foi feito um estudo baseado em nanofósseis, integrado com dados geoquímicos. Foram examinados, para esse propósito, 129 amostras correspondentes aos afloramentos El Palomar, Chinchilla e El Vaquerito. Estes afloramentos situam-se em Cuba Central e caracterizam a Formação Mata da UTE Camajuaní. binocular, não se mostrou adequado para caracterizar o desgaste apresentado pelos grãos de ouro do solo. As análises químicas mostraram que não há refinamento químico dos grãos de ouro na zona oxidada. Quanto aos grãos do solo há forte tendência de não terem sofrido refinamento químico. Entretanto, este produto tem pouca diversidade, e não é processado de modo a agregar valor ao produto. Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal modernizar uma pedreira de pedra decorativa da região de Santo Antônio de Pádua, através da sugestão de implantação de uma tecnologia moderna de extração de blocos, para diversificação e agregação de valor. Para tal foram analisados os ensaios de caracterização tecnológica para sua utilização como rocha ornamental, a pedreira foi planejada para a extração de blocos, e foram feitos levantamentos das características naturais e legais da área, assim como a determinação de medidas ambientais preventivas, corretivas e de monitoramento. álise de difratometria de raios-x revelou dominância de calcita e traços de quartzo. A análise através de raios-x de fluorescência indicou composição diferente entre os elementos químicos contidos no sedimento circundante e nos coprólitos, também por este procedimento, verificou-se marcante similaridade com elementos químicos presentes nas fezes de animais atuais, caracterizando a identidade biológica do material fossilizado. A ocorrência de bioturbações produzidas por atividade coprófoga em algumas amostras está associada à deposição dos excrementos fósseis durante momentos de maior umidade neste paleoambiente. final/Holoceno. A presença de Globorotalia fimbrista datou sedimentos do talude médio no Holoceno. A ocorrência de Pulleniatina obliquiloculata no talude confirmou a sua datação holocênica do mesmo modo que na amostra mais rasa do leque. A sua ausência na outra amostra abissal indicou que este sedimento foi depositado no Pleistoceno final. A ocorrência de Bulimina, C. laevigata e Uvigerina peregrina nos depósitos profundos de transporte de massa do leque do Amazonas (DTM Profundo e Unidade R sugere a proveniência de sedimentos do ambiente batial superior/médio. Espécies como Quinqueloculina cf. stalkeri, P. atlanticum e Q. lamarckiana indicam uma áreafonte na plataforma. Os isótopos de oxigênio medidos em tecas de foraminíferos planctônicos dataram os sedimentos do DTM Profundo e da Unidade R no início do estágio 3, isto é, cerca de 40 ka, ou outro período glacial inicial. As análises de foraminíferos planctônicos encontrados no DTM Profundo indicam três blocos distintos, sendo o topo do pacote formado por sedimentos glaciais, seguindo-se depósitos glaciais iniciais e finalmente sedimentos interglaciais. Na Unidade R ocorrem sedimentos glaciais da fase inicial em toda a extensão do pacote, no furo 936A. No entanto, existem sedimentos interglaciais neste depósito em outros furos, demonstrando que lateralmente, num mesmo pacote, podem ocorrer sedimentos de fases glaciais e interglaciais. A integração dos resultados dos foraminíferos bentônicos e planctônicos no DTM Profundo demonstrou que as ocorrências das espécies bentônicas da plataforma e do talude nas amostras do DTM Profundo atingiram o seu pico de abundância, respectivamente, nas fases de chegada de sedimento glacial e glacial inicial. Pode-se admitir, portanto, que estes depósitos originaram-se na plataforma, no período glacial, quando houve o máximo recuo das águas do mar, e no talude, quando estava se iniciando o período glacial. Resumo Análises palinológicas foram realizadas em sedimentos quaternários provenientes de três localidades situadas no médio vale do rio Paraíba do Sul, abrangendo um intervalo de tempo entre cerca de 31.000 - 9.000 anos 14C AP. Os resultados obtidos indicam que durante o pré-último máximo glacial (cerca de 31.000 - 27.000 anos 14C AP e o ultimo máximo glacial (cerca de 27.000 - 13.000? anos 14C AP, a vegetação encontrada na região de estudo era composta de um mosaico floresta/savana, com a flora arbórea apresentando elementos de floresta temperada e floresta tropical, suportando um clima mais frio que o atual.
