    Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP), like Vehicle Routing Problem, is one of those optimization problems that interests many researchers in the last decades. The Quay Management Problem is a specific problem which could be presented as a QAP which involves a double assignment of customers and products toward loading positions using lifting trucks.     In this paper, the effects of a quay or a solid jetty on hydrodynamic coefficients and vertical wave excitation forces on a ship with or without forward speed are discussed. A modified simple Green function technique is used to calculate the 2D coefficients while the strip theory is used to calculate the 3D coefficients. Wave excitation forces are also calculated with the strip theory. Numerical results are provided for hydrodynamic coefficients and vertical wave excitation forc es on a 200 000 DWT tanker ship. It is found that the quay has a considerable effect on the hydrodynamic coefficients and wave excitation forces for a ship.

    The large-diameter cylinder structure, which is made of large successive bottomless cylinders placed on foundationbed or partly driven into soil, is a recently developed retaining structure in China. It can be used in port, coastal and off-shore works. The method for stability analysis of the large-diameter cylinder structure, especially for stability analysis ofthe embedded large-diameter cylinder structure, is an important issue. In this paper, an idea is presented that is, em-bedded large-diameter cylinder quays can be divided into two types, i.e. the gravity wall type and the cylinder pile walltype. A method for stability analysis of the large-diameter cylinder quay of the cylinder pile wall type is developed and amethod for stability analysis of the large-diameter cylinder quay of the gravity wall type is also proposed. The effect of sig-nificant parameters on the stability of the large-dianeter cylinder quay of the cylinder pile wall type is investigated throughnumerical calculation.

    The multi-spring shear mechanism plastic model in this paper is defined in strain space to simulate pore pressure generation and development in sands under cyclic loading and undrained conditions,and the rotation of principal stresses can also be simulated by the model with cyclic behavior of anisotropic consolidated sands.Seismic residual deformations of typical caisson quay walls under different engineering situations are analyzed in detail by the plastic model,and then an index of liquefaction extent is applied to describe the regularity of seismic residual deformation of caisson quay wall top under different engineering situations.Some correlated prediction formulas are derived from the results of regression analysis between seismic residual deformation of quay wall top and extent of liquefaction in the relative safety backfill sand site.Finally,the rationality and the reliability of the prediction methods are validated by test results of a 120 g-centrifuge shaking table,and the comparisons show that some reliable seismic residual deformation of caisson quay can be predicted by appropriate prediction formulas and appropriate index of liquefaction extent.

  14. A coupled soil-fluid-structure simulation of the near-field earthquake effects on gravity type quay-walls

    This study focuses on non-linear seismic response of concrete gravity quay-wall structures subjected to near-fault ground motions, a subject which seems not to have received much attention in the literature. A two-dimensional coupled fluid-structure-soil finite element modelling is employed to obtain the quay-wall response. The seawater medium is represented by acoustic type, potential based fluid elements. The elasto-plastic behavior of the soil medium is idealized using Drucker-Prager yield criterion based on associated flow rule assumption. Four nodded plane strain elements are used to model the concrete wall, foundation, subsoil, backfill and seabed zones. Fluid Structure Interface (FSI) elements are considered between the seawater interfaces with the quay-wall and the seabed. Frictional contact elements are employed between the wall and soil interfaces. The numerical model is validated using field measurements available for permanent drifts in a quay-wall damaged during Kobe earthquake. Reasonable agreements are obtained between the model predictions and the field measurements. Non-linear seismic analyses of the selected quay-wall subjected to both near-fault and far-fault ground motions are performed. An incremental dynamic analysis approach (IDA) is used. In general, at least for models examined in the current study, the gravity quay-walls are found to be more vulnerable to near-field, in comparison with the corresponding far-field, earthquakes.

    Deformation of quay walls is one of the main sources of damage to port facility while liquefaction of backfill and base soil of the wall are the main reasons for failures of quay walls. During earthquakes, the most susceptible materials for liquefaction in seashore regions are loose saturated sand. In this study, effects of enhancing the wall width and the soil improvement on the behavior of gravity quay walls are examined in order to obtain the optimum improved region. The FLAC 2D software was used for analyzing and modeling progressed models of soil and loading under difference conditions. Also, the behavior of liquefiable soil is simulated by the use of "Finn" constitutive model in the analysis models. The "Finn" constitutive model is especially created to determine liquefaction phenomena and excess pore pressure generation.

    Recently the dual anchored sheet pile wall method has been developed to increase a front water depth and seismic resistance of existing quay walls by providing an additional anchor in the lower level of them to reduce a flexural moment of the sheet piles and a tension of the anchors. The existing technical information is not enough to evaluate the seismic behavior and the retrofit of the quay walls with anchors at two different levels. Therefore the experiments with a scale model set on the vibration table of the centrifugal apparatus as well as two dimensional effective stress analyses have been mobilized to investigate the seismic retrofit of the dual anchored sheet pile wall. The experiments and analyses demonstrate the increase the earthquake resistance of quay walls, because they showed the additional anchor can reduce the stress of the sheet walls to one half.

    Full Text Available Since mankind exists, men have undertaken engineering activities to make their life more pleasant and secure. However this has not been an easy task, especially in the past. The knowledge of mathematics and physics to describe engineering problems became available only since 1400-1500. Nevertheless, great achievements have been made by man before that time, e.g. the pyramids in Egypt, the first sluice in China, the Borobudur temple in Indonesia, and the design and building activities of the Inca’s in South America. To illustrate this development, also the world economy, world ecology will be shortly mentioned. The structures that are briefly discussed in this paper are: soil and concrete dams for generating electricity, reservoirs for irrigation and drinking water, dikes, sluices, inland and sea, tunnels, and quay walls. This paper presents an overview of hydraulic structures in general with the emphasis on quay walls and dikes in the Netherlands. Examples of these structures will be discussed illustrating present state of the art and also with a view to the future. Conclusions and recommendations are given to enhance the knowledge of hydraulic structures.

  2. A note on: A modified generalized extremal optimization algorithm for the quay crane scheduling problem with interference constraints

    In a recent article, Guo, Cheng and Wang proposed a randomized search algorithm, called modified generalized extremal optimization (MGEO), to solve the quay crane scheduling problem for container groups under the assumption that schedules are unidirectional. The authors claim that the proposed algorithm is capable of finding new best solutions with respect to a well-known set of benchmark instances taken from the literature. However, as shown in this note, there are some errors in their work that can be detected by analysing the Gantt charts of two solutions provided by MGEO. In addition, some comments on the method used to evaluate the schedule corresponding to a task-to-quay crane assignment and on the search scheme of the proposed algorithm are provided. Finally, to assess the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the computational experiments are repeated and additional computational experiments are provided.

  3. Wave simulation for the design of an innovative quay wall: the case of Vlorë Harbour

    Sea states and environmental conditions are basic data for the design of marine structures. Hindcasted wave data have been applied here with the aim of identifying the proper design conditions for an innovative quay wall concept. In this paper, the results of a computational fluid dynamics model are used to optimise the new absorbing quay wall of Vlorë Harbour (Republic of Albania) and define the design loads under extreme wave conditions. The design wave states at the harbour entrance have been estimated analysing 31 years of hindcasted wave data simulated through the application of WaveWatch III. Due to the particular geography and topography of the Bay of Vlorë, wave conditions generated from the north-west are transferred to the harbour entrance with the application of a 2-D spectral wave module, whereas southern wave states, which are also the most critical for the port structures, are defined by means of a wave generation model, according to the available wind measurements. Finally, the identified extreme events have been used, through the NewWave approach, as boundary conditions for the numerical analysis of the interaction between the quay wall and the extreme events. The results show that the proposed method, based on numerical modelling at different scales from macro to meso and to micro, allows for the identification of the best site-specific solutions, also for a location devoid of any wave measurement. In this light, the objectives of the paper are two-fold. First, they show the application of sea condition estimations through the use of wave hindcasted data in order to properly define the design wave conditions for a new harbour structure. Second, they present a new approach for investigating an innovative absorbing quay wall based on CFD modelling and the NewWave theory.

  5. Berth Allocation Problem with Quay Crane Assignment for Container Terminals Based on Rolling-Horizon Strategy

    Full Text Available In order to solve the large-scale integral dynamic scheduling of continuous berths and quay cranes problem, a method based on rolling-horizon strategy is proposed. A multiobjective optimization model that is established minimizes the total penalty costs considering vessels’ deviations to their preferred berthing positions, delayed times for berthing comparing to their estimated arrival times, and delayed times for departure comparing to their estimated departure times. Then, the scheduling process was divided into a set of continual scheduling interval according to the dynamic arrival sequences. Meanwhile, rolling-horizon strategies for setting rolling and frozen windows and the parameter updating strategy are designed. The input parameters of the model in the next rolling window are updated according to the optimal results of each time window which have been obtained. The model is solved by choosing appropriate rolling and freezing window lengths that represents the numbers of adjacent vessels in the sequence of calling vessels. The holistic optimal solution is obtained by gradually rolling and combining the results of each window. Finally, a case study indicated that the rolling schedule can solve large-scale scheduling problems, and the efficiency of the proposed approach relates to the size of rolling window, freeze ship quantity, and rolling frequency.

  7. A Proposed Borehole Scientific Laboratory in Quay County, New Mexico, USA

    Our team has received funding from the US Department of Energy to initiate a Deep Borehole Field Test that will develop a subsurface test site to evaluate the drilling and scientific aspects of deep borehole disposal of nuclear waste in crystalline rock. Phase 1 of the project will focus on Public Outreach and land acquisition whereas Phase 2 will generate a drilling and testing plan and secure regulatory approvals. Phase 3 will complete the Drilling and Testing Plan and Phase 4 will include the drilling and testing. Phase 5 will be devoted to borehole science and experiments with emplacement technology. Although we are specifically considering issues associated with the disposal of waste, this project is a proof of concept, and no waste will be emplaced at our site. In brief, the concept envisions an 8-1/2 inch open-hole completion at a depth of 5000 m in crystalline rock. There will be an extensive program of sample collection (including core) and analysis as well as geophysical logging and borehole testing. Critical issues will be low permeability in the crystalline rock as well as the ability to manage borehole quality. Our team has proposed a site in Quay County, New Mexico that has an 850 meter thick Paleozoic section overlying homogeneous Precambrian granite. A subsequent phase of the project may drill a second hole with a 17-1/2 inch completion located about 200 m from the first. Our long-term plan is that this site will be managed as a deep scientific observatory that also provides a facility for scientific experiments and testing of borehole infrastructure and drilling equipment.

This paper applied body dynamics software AQWA for the large LNG ships dock mooring. With the joint loaded ship motion response in the wind, wave and flow, the LNG ships dock mooring total motion response and mooring ropes by tension were obtained. The result for the similar ship at the dock provides was the reference of the mooring lines. The method can be used to analyze ships dock mooring of a new method.

    通过 SIMIO 仿真软件对某集装箱码头的靠泊、装卸以及水平运输作业过程进行仿真建模,为船舶到港、泊位分配以及岸桥借调过程设定了更准确的过程逻辑,并设计了不同的泊位-岸桥分配调度模型,优化目标为最小化单船平均在港时间。通过分析仿真结果得出了一个较优的泊位分配和岸桥调度方案,为码头的运营与管理提供了参考,也为 SIMIO 在集装箱码头以及物流集散中心作业过程的仿真研究提供了一些新的思路。%Simulations are performed for a real container terminal in terms of berth allocation, cargo loading/unloading and horizontal traffic by using the simulation software SIMIO, in which more precise process logics are designed for the process of containership arriving, berth allocation and quay crane dispatching. Models are designed for different berth allocations and quay crane assignments, aiming at minimizing the average staying time of each containership. An optimization scheme of berth allocation and quay crane assignment is obtained based on analysis of simulation results, which may be taken as a basis for terminal operation and management, and provides some new thoughts for simulations of container terminal and cargo logistic center operation process by SIMIO.

  10. UAV, LiDAR & ground-based surveying from Stackpole Quay: best practice for accuracy of virtual outcrops and structural models

    Virtual outcrops derived from techniques such as LiDAR and SfM (digital photogrammetry) provide a viable and potentially powerful addition or alternative to traditional field studies, given the large amounts of raw data that can be acquired rapidly and safely. The use of these digital representations of outcrops as a source of geological data has increased greatly in the past decade, and as such, the accuracy and precision of these new acquisition methods applied to geological problems has been addressed by a number of authors. Little work has been done, however, on the integration of virtual outcrops into fundamental structural geology workflows and to systematically studying the fidelity of the data derived from them. Here, we use the classic Stackpole Quay syncline outcrop in South Wales to quantitatively evaluate the accuracy of three virtual outcrop models (LiDAR, aerial and terrestrial digital photogrammetry) compared to data collected directly in the field. Using these structural data, we have built 2D and 3D geological models which make predictions of fold geometries. We examine the fidelity of virtual outcrops generated using different acquisition techniques to outcrop geology and how these affect model building and final outcomes. Finally, we utilize newly acquired data to deterministically test model validity. Based upon these results, we find that acquisition of digital imagery by UAS (Unmanned Autonomous Vehicle) yields highly accurate virtual outcrops when compared to terrestrial methods, allowing the construction of robust data-driven predictive models. Careful planning, survey design and choice of suitable acquisition method are, however, of key importance for best results.

    In terms of the basic ideas of behavioral operation research,a service-oriented Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming(MINLP) model by using a deep integration method was formulated to deal with the berth allocation and quay crane assignment problem.To overcome the problems of computational intractability and optimality absence,the model was transformed into a Mixed-Integer Second Order Cone Programming(MISOCP) model,and the optimization software CPLEX was used to solve the model.Since the branch and cut algorithm was time-consuming and ran out of memory for some instances,MINLP model was solved by outer approximation algorithm.Based on the characteristics of the problem,the model was decomposed into a mixed-integer linear programming master problem and a nonlinear programming sub-problem.The optimal solution to the sub-problem was obtained by analytical method,and the outer approximation of nonlinear constraints was derived by using the first-order Taylor series expansion.Finally,solution performance of the branch and cut algorithm and the outer approximation algorithm was compared by numerical experiments.Moreover,convergence of the outer approximation algorithm was verified.The sensitivity analysis of key parameters in the model was also conducted.%从行为运筹学角度,面向服务性目标,采用深度集成的方法对泊位和岸桥联合调度问题建立了混合整数非线性规划模型。为克服计算困难和最优性缺失等问题,将模型转化为混合整数二阶锥规划模型,并利用优化软件CPLEX对其求解。针对CPLEX中分支切割算法在某些实例上存在内存溢出、求解时间长等问题,采用外逼近算法对混合整数非线性规划模型进行求解:根据问题特点将模型分解为混合整数线性规划主问题和非线性规划子问题,其中,子问题可用解析方法求得最优解,同时利用一阶Taylor展开导出了非线性约束的外逼近。最后,基于数值实验比较了分支

  13. Integrated Quay Crane and Yard Truck Scheduling Based on Constraint Programming%基于约束规划的岸桥与集卡集成调度

    A Mixed Integer Programming(MIP) model and a Constraint Programming(CP) model to tackle the integrated quay crane and yard truck scheduling problem for inbound containers are proposed, which aims to minimize the makespan of unloading process. The CP model is developed with OPL modeling language and employs OPL’s special constructs designed for scheduling problems, e.g., interval variables sequence variable etc. To improve solving efficiency, a special concept called extended operation task is proposed which is used to define interval variables. Besides, a new lower bound is given to evaluate the quality of solutions. Computational experiments on varied scales of instances are carried out to test the CP model and the MIP model. The results indicate that the CP model does not outperform the MIP model for small instances. For medium and large instances, the MIP model can not be solved within time limit, whereas the CP model is effective for finding high-quality solutions and can efficiently solve large problems with fast convergence rate. On average, the gap between the objective values of the CP model and the lower bounds is 2.19%~8.28%.%针对进口集装箱卸船的岸桥与集卡集成调度问题,分别提出混合整数规划(MIP)模型和约束规划(CP)模型,目标是使得卸船完工时间最短,该问题是NP难题。通过OPL语言设计约束规划模型,利用其为调度问题提供的特殊构造,如区间变量、序列变量等进行建模,并采用“扩展操作任务”的概念来定义区间变量以提升求解效率。为评价解的质量,设计一个新的下界求解方法。使用不同规模的实例对约束规划模型和MIP模型进行测试,结果表明,在小规模实例中,CP模型求解性能略差于MIP模型,但对于中大规模实例,MIP模型无法在设定时限内找到解,而CP模型则能以较快的收敛速度得到高质量的解,目标距离下界的差距控制在2.19%~8.28%。

  3. Optimization algorithm for quay crane scheduling with finite operation range%带作业范围约束的岸桥调度模型及其算法设计

    Because of the restrictions of cable pit location and cable length, quay crane can only move along the quayside within a certain range. Considering this practical characteristic, non-crossing and safety constraints, a new mixed integer programming model for quay crane scheduling with operation range constraints is established, which can minimize makes-pan of loading/unloading tasks. Because it is NP-hard in nature, a hybrid simulated annealing algorithm is designed to obtain the near optimal solutions. A heuristics algorithm is developed to find a good initial solution. A mutation operator from GA is proposed to obtain a suitable neighborhood solution which can provide a higher degree of solution diversification. The tabu list concept from the tabu search is adopted and embedded in the framework of the SA algorithm to prevent cycling. Computational experimental results show that the model is effective. The computational time and optimal solu-tion of hybrid SA are superior to simple SA and TS. And the solving efficiency of hybrid SA is better than LINGO soft-ware when the instances become larger.%受电缆线坑位置与缆线长度的限制,岸桥作业只能在一定的横向移动范围之内。考虑到这一现实要求,结合岸桥作业禁止跨越与安全距离等特有约束,以最小化装卸作业的makespan为目标,构建了新的岸桥作业调度混合整数规划模型。针对问题的NP-hard特性,设计了一种混合模拟退火算法,运用启发式算法生成质量较高的初始解,结合遗传算法的变异运算生成邻域新解,增强了解的多样性,引入禁忌搜索算法的禁忌表操作,避免了循环搜索,提高了求解效率。大规模实验结果表明所建立的模型是有效的,算法的求解质量与效率明显优于标准模拟退火算法与禁忌搜索算法。当实验规模逐渐增大时,与LINGO软件相比,算法在求解效率方面的优势越来越明显。

  4. Integrated quay crane allocation and yard truck schedule problem in container terminals%集装箱码头岸桥分配与集卡调度整合问题研究

    Quay crane and truck scheduling are interrelated issues with mutual influence. In order to improve port handling efficiency, it is necessary to coordinate them in a good relationship. The scheduling problem was solved by formulating a mixed integer programming ( MIP ) model which consider both loading and unloading. The goal of this model was to minimize the completion time of both import and export containers. Due to the complexity of the problem, a layered approach was used for the solution of the two devices scheduling. Meanwhile, an improved genetic algorithm was used to solve the model. The new method was compared with CPLEX. The experiment demonstrates that the improved genetic algorithm obtains optimal solution for six cases of total cases and the aver-age gap of left cases is less than 5%. Numerical experiments show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently handle the problem within a limited time. In solving time, along with the increase of the number of trucks, the time span of the CPLEX solutions differs from the 1 second to 1 hour, but the improved algorithm only need dozens of seconds to solve the problem. Thus, the improved algorithm can effectively solve such problem.%岸桥分配与集卡调度是相互联系相互影响的问题,如果要提高码头装卸效率,就必须协调好两者的调度关系。针对集装箱码头岸桥和集卡的协同调度问题,以使进口箱和出口箱的总完工时间最短为目的,考虑了集卡路径约束和岸桥实际操作情况等实际约束,构建了边装边卸的混合整数规划模型。由于模型比较复杂,因此采用了分层方法来实现两种设备的协调调度,并用改进的遗传算法来求解模型。实验表明,通过将改进算法的结果与标准化软件CPLEX所求得的最优解或下界比较,算法求得6组最优解且剩余算例平均偏差小于5%;在求解时间方面,随着岸桥、集卡和集装箱数量的增加,CPLEX求解时间跨度由1 s到1 h快速

    遮帘桩作为新型的支护结构作用在板桩码头结构上,造成常规板桩码头结构发生变形,现有的理论计算方法还不能完全反映其变形机制.借助ABAQUS通用有限元软件,结合工程实例,进行了二维及三维数值计算,计算结果表明:①对比数值计算结果与原型观测试验,模拟的结构变形与原型观测结果相仿,前墙上水平位移沿深度方向呈抛物线变化,而遮帘桩、锚碇墙上水平位移沿深度方向大致呈线性分布,竖向沉降与原型观测结果相似;②比较三维模型中间桩、边桩断面和原型观测上水平位移,前墙受遮帘桩影响,存在明显的遮帘效应.

Results of data analysis for research activities by field survey method in 2009, were TPS performance include BOR (quay performance 53.77% and BTP (the number of containers passing through the quay 1.61 box/meter long pier, YOR (field performance stacking for export 23.91% and import 55.12%. Application of model scenario analysis, the changing the length of the quay cutting the time does not operate in the dock shows the change in the performance of container terminals, among others: Scenario A, the addition of 500m quay length can reduce the density on the quay marked with: BOR 43.02% BTP 1.29 box/m, and YOR 51.96%. Scenario B, time does not operate the sip could be reduced up to 2 hours so that berth time of 20.98 hours to 18.98 hours by eliminating time off between shifts with performance:BOR 48.64%, BTP 1.45 box/m, and YOR 46.30%. Scenario C, applying the minimum service time for the entire container unloading device performance with the BOR 39.72%, BTP 1.19 box/m and YOR 18.17%.

    Full Text Available This paper studies a new automated container terminal (ACT system which utilizes multistory frame bridges and rail-mounted trolleys to transport containers between the quay and the yard. Beside typical ACT systems use trucks or automated guided vehicles for transporting containers between quay cranes and yard cranes, the new design uses three types of handling machines, namely, ground trolleys (GTs, transfer platforms (TPs, and frame trolleys (FTs. These three types of handling machines collaborate with one another to transport containers. This study decomposes the system into several subsystems. Each subsystem has one TP and several FTs and GTs dedicated to this TP. Then, a Markov chain model is developed to analyze the throughput of TPs. At last, the performance of the new ACT system is estimated. Sensitivity analyzes the numbers, and the processing rates of trolleys are conducted through the numeric experiments.

    The integrated scheduling of container handling systems aims to optimize the coordination and overall utilization of all handling equipment, so as to minimize the makespan of a given set of container tasks. A modified disjunctive graph is proposed and a mixed 0-1 programming model is formulated. A heuristic algorithm is presented, in which the original problem is divided into two subproblems. In the first subproblem, contiguous bay crane operations are applied to obtain a good quay crane schedule. In the second subproblem, proper internal truck and yard crane schedules are generated to match the given quay crane schedule. Furthermore, a genetic algorithm based on the heuristic algorithm is developed to search for better solutions. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently find high-quality solutions. They also indicate the effectiveness of simultaneous loading and discharging operations compared with separate ones.

    Through the study of the theory of oil spill model, a mathematical modeling of oil spill on the sea is developed which with the consideration of spread, diffusion, drifting and attenuation of oil slick is influenced by evaporation and emulsification factors. A model that under the effect of ocean dynamic condition of tide, wind and wave, using Monte Carlo method to simulate the movement of oil slick is established. The modeling is applied to calculate and predict pollution range of oil spill at oil quay and oil ship in Daya Bay. The prediction results have basically shown the pollution situation by emergency of oil spill on the sea.

    Full Text Available Due to the considerable growth in the worldwide container transportation, optimization of container terminal operations is becoming highly needed to rationalize the use of logistics resources. For this reason, we focus our study on the Quay Crane Scheduling Problem (QCSP, which is a core task of managing maritime container terminals. From this planning problem arise two decisions to be made: The first one concerns tasks assignment to quay crane and the second one consists of finding the handling sequence of tasks such that the turnaround time of cargo vessels is minimized. In this paper, we provide a mixed-integer programming (MIP model that takes into account non-crossing constraints, safety margin constraints and precedence constraints. The QCSP has been shown NP-complete, thus, we used the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO, a probabilistic technique inspired from ants’ behaviour, to find a feasible solution of such problem. The results obtained from the computational experiments indicate that the proposed method is able to produce good results while reducing the computational time.

    Full Text Available The genus Silene (family Caryophyllaceae comprises more than 700 species and it is one of the larger genera of the World’s flora. Studying the flora of the plain part of Kosovo and Metohija, in the village of Gračanica, on the eastern rim of the Kosovo basin (approximately 10 km to the south of Priština, near the Gračanka stream, we identified a weed and ruderal species, Silene noctiflora. The part of the stream bank is urbanised and turned into a quay. The quay is regularly maintained implying that the banks are regularly weeded and the riverbeds are cleaned as the Typha latifolia species rapidly grows; it may be the reason why this species was not immediately detected and appropriately identified. Except for the afore mentioned locality, the species was also reported on the neglected arable fields and tilths, around the unkempt orchards, along the new tarmac road between Gračanica and Laplje Selo, on the locality called Labura. Silene noctiflora is not mentioned for the region of Kosovo and Metohija in the new and revised edition of the book Flora of Serbia 2.

    Full Text Available Use of the ship maneuvering simulator (SMS is at the core of pilot trainees education and training, so it is desirable to have an evaluation method that can be completed shortly after each berthing training session. There are basically two methods of docking maneuvering that pilot trainees learn: one in which the ship enters from outside the port and is berthed directly at the target quay, and a second method in which the vessel carries out a turn in front of the target quay before berthing. The authors suggested an evaluation index in a previous study concerning the first docking method. In the present study, the authors propose an evaluation method for the case of berthing the vessel using the turning maneuver. Since the index obtained by this method offers a single numerical benchmark, it is an easy–to-understand result of the training exercise. The authors carried out experiments using a SMS and confirmed that the proposed evaluation method is effective and helpful to improve the effectiveness of SMS training.

    Full Text Available Container terminals (CTs play an essential role in the global transportation system. To deal with growing container shipments, a CT needs to better solve the three essential seaside operational problems; berth allocation problem (BAP, quay crane assignment problem (QCAP, and quay crane scheduling problem (QCSP, which affect the performance of a CT considerably. In past studies, the three seaside operational problems have often been solved individually or partially, which is likely to result in poor overall system performance. However, solving the three seaside operational problems simultaneously is in fact a very complicated task. In this research, we dealt with the three seaside operational problems at the same time by using a novel high-level Petri net, termed an Object-Oriented and Timed Predicate/Transition Net (OOTPr/Tr net. After defining the three seaside operational problems formally, we integrated them as a three-level framework that was further transformed into an OOTPr/Tr net model. Then, using the Prolog programming language, we implemented this model as a simulation tool to find the best solution based on the various combinations of heuristic rules used.

  18. An innovative early warning system for floods and operational risks in harbours

    Early Warning Systems (EWS) are nowadays becoming fairly standard in river flood forecasting or in large scale hydrometeorological predictions. For complex coastal morphodynamic problems or in the vicinity of complex coastal structures, such as harbours, EWS are much less used because they are both technically and computationally still very challenging. To advance beyond the state-of-the-art, the EU FP7 project Risc-KIT (www.risc-kit.eu) is developing prototype EWS which address specifically these topics. This paper describes the prototype EWS which IMDC has developed for the case study site of the harbour of Zeebrugge. The harbour of Zeebrugge is the largest industrial seaport on the coast of Belgium, extending more than 3 km into the sea. Two long breakwaters provide shelter for the inner quays and docks for regular conditions and frequent storms. Extreme storms surges and waves can however still enter the harbour and create risks for the harbour operations and infrastructure. The prediction of the effects of storm surges and waves inside harbours are typically very complex and challenging, due to the need of different types of numerical models for representing all different physical processes. In general, waves inside harbours are a combination of locally wind generated waves and offshore wave penetration at the port entrance. During extreme conditions, the waves could overtop the quays and breakwaters and flood the port facilities. Outside a prediction environment, the conditions inside the harbour could be assessed by superimposing processes. The assessment can be carried out by using a combination of a spectral wave model (i.e. SWAN) for the wind generated waves and a Boussinesq type wave model (i.e. Mike 21 BW) for the wave penetration from offshore. Finally, a 2D hydrodynamic model (i.e. TELEMAC) can be used to simulate the overland flooding inside the port facilities.     Full Text Available According to previous researches, automated guided vehicles and quay cranes in container terminals have a high potential synergy. In this paper, a mixed integer programming model is formulated to optimize the coordinated scheduling of cranes and vehicles in container terminals. Objectives of the model are to minimize total traveling time of the vehicles and delays in tasks of cranes. A genetic algorithm is developed to solve the problem in reasonable computational time. The most appropriate control parameters for the proposed genetic algorithm are investigated in a medium size numerical test case. It is shown that balanced crossover and mutation rates have the best performance in finding a near optimal solution for the problem. Then, ten small size test cases are solved to evaluate the performance of the proposed optimization methods. The results show the applicability of the genetic algorithm since it can find near optimal solutions, precisely and accurately.

  20. A two-phase tabu search approach to scheduling optimization in container terminals

    An optimization model for scheduling of quay cranes (QCs) and yard trailers was proposed to improve the overall efficiency of container terminals. To implement this model, a two-phase tabu search algorithra was designed. In the QCs scheduling phase of the algorithm, a search was performed to determine a good QC unloading operation order. For each QC unloading operation order generated during the QC's scheduling phase, another search was run to obtain a good yard trailer routing for the given QC's unloading order. Using this information, the time required for the operation was estimated,then the time of return to availability of the units was fed back to the QC scheduler. Numerical tests show that the two-phase Tabu Search algorithm searches the solution space efficiently, decreases the empty distance yard trailers must travel, decreases the number of trailers needed, and thereby reduces time and costs and improves the integration and reliability of container terminal operation systems.

    Full Text Available Ship maneuvering in restricted waters of harbor basins and navigation channels had been the main concern in recent years due to sudden increase of ship’s size. When the ship enters a navigation channel the lateral boundary of the channel exerts a transverse force and turning moment on the ship hull. These forces are so important in the analysis of safety of ship navigation in the channels. Ship model test in the towing tank is a reliable method to evaluate these forces. Therefore systematic model tests are held for modeling of the forces exerted on the tanker ship and dhow model traveling alongside a vertical wall. A database of the interaction forces is developed and the specific hydrodynamic effects related to the phenomena are discussed. The results can be used for simulation of ship maneuvering and assessment of safety limits for navigation of ships alongside the quay walls and breakwaters.

    研究同时服务于装船和卸船作业的集卡全场调度策略,调度优化目标包括减少岸桥等待集卡的时间以及减少集卡的空载行程.提出了基于Q学习算法的集卡调度强化学习模型,对其系统状态、动作策略、报酬函数进行分析,并结合小脑模型关节控制器(CMAC)神经网络对Q函数进行泛化和逼近.仿真结果表明,与其他集卡调度策略相比,Q学习算法的优化效果比较明显,其在保证岸桥连续作业的同时,还能有效减少集卡的空载行程.%Scheduling strategies of container vehicles which serve loading and unloading simultaneously were researched.Scheduling optimizing object was reducing the waiting time of quay cranes for vehicles and empty travel distance of vehicles.A reinforcement learning model based on Q-learning was designed, and its system states, action rules and reward function were defined.The Q-function was generalized and approximated using the cerebella-model-articulation-controller (CMAC) neuron network.Simulation results showed that Q-learning algorithm could optimize the vehicle scheduling strategies, which guaranteed the quay cranes' continuous working and reducing the empty travel distance of vehicles efficiently.

    To solve the Storage Space Allocation Problem (SSAP), an optimization strategy for the storage space allocation is proposed based on the Matrix Genetic Algorithm ( M-GA). The strategy aims at minimizing the transportation distance between the storage blocks and the vessel berths, and the factors such as quay crane and yard crane are taken into account. The storage space allocation model based on quay crane operating lines is built firstly; then the extended version of the SSAP is resolved by the M-GA; the influences of different genetic strategies on the performance of Genetic Algorithm (GA) are analyzed finally.     As the most important resources in port, berths and quay-cranes that are optimally alloca-ted and scheduled can improve the operate efficiency of container port.The berth-crane allocation problem is to arrange the best berthing position, dwelling time and the numbers of operating quay cranes for vessels calling for services in the container port.Considering the continuous berth alloca-tion problem, a model of 0-1 mixed integer linear programming of berth-cranes allocated was pro-posed based on preference berthing position.The goal of the model is to minimize the differences be-tween the preferences berthing position and berthing position and the length of the stay time in the terminal for all vessels. The impacts of port operating costs and quay-cranes operating costs caused by vessel berthing in differ preference berthing position, the time of vessel arriving and departing by differ preference berthing position penalties were investigated. Through simulation analysis, a scheme of berth-crane integrate allocation based on the preference berthing position was developed.     The combination structure of the inserted steel cylinder assisted with vice grid and the riprap slope embankment out-side is used as sea defense structure for the Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge island and tunnel project. With regard to the over-all stability of the quay wall structure, we carried out the life cycle analysis from construction period to use period. For the con-struction period, the four worst conditions on the structure stability is analyzed combined with the construction process;for the use period, considering the effect of steel cylinder corrosion on the structural stability, the two software, Calculation System of Port Engineering Foundation and GeoStudio-Slope/W, are selected to analysis. After stability calculation, the slope stability of the quay wall structure can meet the requirements of relevant codes and surplus, satisfying the use requirements and providing references for similar engineering.%港珠澳大桥岛隧工程人工岛工程采用带副格的插入式大圆筒作为岸壁围护结构,同时外侧辅以抛石斜坡堤进行防护。针对岸壁结构整体稳定,进行了从施工期到使用期的全寿命分析。对于施工期,结合施工工序确定对结构稳定最不利的四种工况;对于使用期,考虑了大圆筒腐蚀对结构稳定的影响,并分别采用港口工程地基计算系统和GeoStudio-Slope/W两种软件进行对比计算。经稳定性验算,岸壁结构的圆弧滑动稳定性符合相关规范要求且有较大富余,满足了使用要求,同时也为类似工程提供借鉴。

    Resonant frequencies of the new recreational external eastern dock of the harbour of Malaga (Spain), have been analyzed with a Biuniqueness numerical model. The computational area includes an important part of the Malagueta beach, placed in front of the mouth of the future dock, and considered as a possible generation source of infra gravity energy. In order to determined all possible oscillations modes of the sheltered area, a previous simulation with a colour spectrum with equal energy into 25s{sup -}1 to 350s{sup -}1 frequency range, was carried out. the analysis of the response spectra gotten in the control points showed an important application at 70s{sup -}1. the simulation with monochromatic wave of 70s period pointed out a second transversal oscillation mode among the Malagueta beach and the inner quay of the new dock. Additional numerical running using measured data coming from Malaga Spanish buoy network, placed near of the harbour, leads similar amplifications in the range of 70s{sup 1}-80s{sup -}1 close to that obtained theoretically.     Full Text Available This paper introduces a novel quay crane design, double girder bridge crane (DGBC. DGBC is capable of handling containers of two adjacent bays simultaneously, avoiding crane collisions, saving travelling and reposition cost, and eventually improving terminal efficiency. This problem is formulated as a resource-constrained project scheduling with objective to minimize the maximum completion time. A two-stage heuristic algorithm is proposed in which an operating sequences on each bay is obtained by double cycling, and the integrated timetable for both bays is constructed by solving resource conflicts using the proposed minimum cost strategy. We examine effectiveness and performance of applying DGBC with double cycling. A case study is presented to illustrate how DGBC works with the two-stage method. Three extreme cases with respective conflict types are investigated to develop the performance bounds of DGBC with double cycling. The results show that DGBC can significantly improve terminal productivity, and outperforms single girder crane in both makespan and the lift operation percentage. The highest DGBC efficiency does not require maximum double cycles in two bay schedules; rather the integrated timetable for two bays is the main contribution to the DGBC performance as it yields better cooperation between two spreaders and the driver.

  14. Study on Structure of Arched Longitudinal Beams of Deep Water Wharf

    High-pile and beam-slab quays have been widely used after several years development. They are mature enough to be one of the most important structural types of wharves in China coastal areas. In order to accommodate large tonnage vessels, wharves should be constructed in deep water gradually. However, conventional high-pile and beam-slab structures are hard to meet the requirements of large deep-water wharf. According to arch's stress characteristics, a new type of wharf with catenary arched longitudinal beams is presented in this paper. The new wharf structure can make full use of arch's overhead crossing and reinforced concrete compression resistance, improve the interval between transverse bents greatly, and decrease underwater construction quantity. Thus, the construction cost cab be reduced. Take the third phase project of the Yangshan Deep-water Port for example, comparative analysis on catenary arched longitudinal beams and conventional longitudinal beams has been made. The result shows that with the same wharf length and width, the same loads and same longitudinal beam moment, catenary arch structure can improve the interval between bents up to 28 m, decrease the number of piles and underwater construction quantity.

This study discusses how to dispatch CTs by utilizing information about pickup and delivery locations and time in future delivery tasks based on dynamic dispatching strategy in which multiple tasks are matched with multiple CTs. n this paper, Multi-agent system (MAS is used as the basis for an intelligent dispatch system. To aim at that the characteristic of management of container terminal is how to optimize resource of terminal, the trends of decision-making way for management of container terminal, research and application of Multi-Agent system is summarized. Relationship between transport tasks and service of CTS has been taken as a contract net using the fuzzy set theory and method. Considering the load of communication and consultation efficiency in system, the bidirectional negotiation mechanism is adopted. The dispatching model based on Contract Network Protocol (CNP using bidirectional negotiation is provided for assigning optimal delivery tasks to CTs and fuzzy reasoning process of dispatching decisions is suggested. The method has both virtues of precision of static planning and flexibility of CNP and has been confirmed by cases.

    The berthing of a ship is a kind of control operations of position, speed and direction of a ship in order to bring a ship alongside a quay. Berthing control is accompanied with a hard problem in which the 6 freedoms of position and speed in 3 directions such as fore and behind, right and left and a revolution must be controlled. In this study, a concept of the agent was introduced as a means of berthing. The agent is a computer program which can be worked in a person`s place. If an autonomous intelligence is carried on each element such as a tugboat or a propeller of ship, the element is able to act based on judgement decided by itself without an instruction from a control center. Thereby, the berthing control system as a multi-agent system having an adaptability and a cooperativeness will be realized. Then the multi-agent system to help berthing was constructed by applying the Muller`s three phase model as a cooperative autonomous agent and by sharing the role of each phase. 8 refs., 12 figs., 1 tab.

It’s situated in North of Transilvania and his territory covers few geomorphological units like: Rodna Mountains, the Maramureş Mountains, the Gutâi Mountains. The longest river wich crossed the county is Lăpuş. The climat is formed under the influence of dominantly western and north-western atmospheric flow and sheltered by the nerby mountains. The Lăpuş Mountins far from having impressing heights, are very fragmentated, with deep valleys and steep slopes, the river Lăpuş forming true quays. Near the Lăpuş Valey the peaks are covered with forest consist in special in beech forests with a few oak trees and small meadows of Nardus stricta and Agrostis stolonifera. Near the river they are also low forest edificated by Salix alba and Alnus glutinosa.

    Two aspects of conductive heat are focused here (i) the nature of conductive heat, defined as that form of energy that is transferred as a result of a temperature difference and (ii) the nature of the intermolecular potentials that induces both thermal energy flow and the temperature profile at the steady state for a 1-D lattice chain. It is found that the standard presuppositions of people like Benofy and Quay (BQ) following Joseph Fourier do not obtain for at least a certain specified regime of intermolecular potential parameters related to harmonic (quadratic) potentials for nearest neighbor interactions. For these harmonic potentials, it appears from the simulation results that steady state solutions exist utilizing non-synthetic thermostats that couple not just the two particles at the extreme ends of the lattice chain, but to a control volume of $N$ particles located at either ends of the chain that does not accord with the unique analytical solutions that obtains for single particle thermostatting at t...

    Installation of flexible pipe for offshore developments is costly due to the physical cost of the flexible pipe, expensive day rates and the availability of suitable installation vessels. Considering the scarcity of flexible pipe in today's increasingly demanding and busy market, operators are seeking a cost effective solution for installing piping in a range of water depths using vessels which are readily on hand. This paper describes a novel approach to installing reeled coiled tubing, from 1 inch to 5 inch diameter, from the back of a small vessel in water depths from 40 m up to around 1000 m. The uniqueness of the system is the fact that the equipment design is modular and compact. This means that when disassembled, it fits into standard 40 ft shipping containers, and the size allows it to be installed on even relatively small vessels of opportunity, such as anchor handling or installation vessels, from smaller, and cheaper quay side locations. Such an approach is the ideal solution to the problem faced by operators, in that it allows the installation of cheaper, readily available coiled tubing, from cost-effective vessels, which do not need to transit to a pick up the system.     Although there are several options for deep water development, the TLP has proven itself to be the system of choice for dry completion. This is demonstrated by its current worldwide application in the North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and SE Asia. Future developments in Brazil are well suited to this Operator-friendly system. Also, due to the compact nature of its hull form, fabrication and integration of the system can be performed locally. TLPs represent a safe and proven solution for PETROBRAS in their quest to go deeper. As an introduction, this paper first addresses the basic principals of the TLP such as its superior motion characteristics and associated operational advantages, mooring system, hull form, and more. The paper will then present the more essential advancements in technology applied on the three most recent TLP projects including extension of water depth, high top tensioned riser counts, quay side integration, 'design one, build two', etc. Lastly and most importantly, other technology developments pertinent to near-term applications in Brazil are presented.     Full Text Available The emergence of Brutalism in Serbian architecture is mainly connected to the works of several architects, with Branislav Jovin being one of the most significant authors in this group. He is well-known for his project 'Belgrade Underground' and numerous other works, such as traffic intersection Mostar, the building of Institute of Urbanism Belgrade, New Belgrade Municipality building, etc. Jovin was equally successful as accomplished creator of ground floor architecture. His solutions for the pedestrian zone in Knez Mijalova Street and part of the Republic Square, the Sava River Quay and free space in front of Yugoslavia Hotel and the Congress Center Sava determined to a great deal the cosmopolitan character of Belgrade. When in 1970 he completed the building of Institute of Urbanism Belgrade, by using natural concrete as a tool to achieving expressiveness, Jovin, along with other architects - Mihajlo Mitrovic, Ivan Antic, Ljupko Curcic, Bozidar Jankovic, Branislav Karadzic, Aleksandar Stepanovic, laid the foundations for research of brutalist aesthetics in Serbia. Although majority of his works include urbanist-architectural projects and management of outdoor spaces, the inspiration for this interview came primarily from his architectural achievements. The aim of the interview was to emphasize the circumstances that led to emergence of brutalist tendencies in Serbian architecture, as well as to encourage further research of the brutalism aesthetics.

Foram consideradas variáveis relativas a três diferentes momentos no curso de vida da família. A qualidade da estimulação no ambiente familiar precoce (escores no Inventário HOME mostrou-se mais importante do que psicopatologia parental na análise de diferenças entre escores médios para problemas (QMPI e competências (ACQ. O único fator do HOME significativamente correlacionado ao escore no QMPI foi "punição e restrição física" (pMeasures of psychosocial adjustment were made through an epidemiological survey on 56 teenagers of a popular neighborhood of Salvador to evaluate the predictive power of environmental and socioeconomic variables, evaluated when those subjects had between 0 and 5 years. Variables concerning to three different moments in the course of life of the family were considered. The quality of the stimulation in the early family environment (scores at HOME Inventory revealed more important than parental psychopathology in the analysis of differences among medium scores for problems (QMPI and competencies (ACQ - Achenbach, Quay & Conners' Checklist. The only factor of the HOME Inventory correlated to the score in QMPI was "punishing and restriction" (p<0,05. In general, high scores at HOME Inventory were associated to higher indexes of adjustment; however, some factors that indicate adversity in the first years predicted higher levels of competence, getting the attention for the complexity inherent to determination of vulnerability-resilience in developmental processes.

    Full Text Available This paper intends to point out the possibility of using Internet photogrammetry to construct 3D models from the images obtained by means of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. The solutions may be useful for the inspection of ports as to the content of cargo, transport safety or the assessment of the technical infrastructure of port and quays. The solution can be a complement to measurements made by using laser scanning and traditional surveying methods. In this paper the authors recommend a solution useful for creating 3D models from images acquired by the UAV using non-metric images from digital cameras. The developed algorithms, created and presented software allows to generate 3D models through the Internet in two modes: anaglyph and display in shutter systems. The problem of 3D image generation in photogrammetry is solved by using epipolar images. The appropriate method was presented by Kreiling in 1976. However, it applies to photogrammetric images for which the internal orientation is known. In the case of digital images obtained with non-metric cameras it is required to use another solution based on the fundamental matrix concept, introduced by Luong in 1992. In order to determine the matrix which defines the relationship between left and right digital image it is required to have at least eight homologous points. To determine the solution it is necessary to use the SVD (singular value decomposition. By using the fundamental matrix the epipolar lines are determined, which makes the correct orientation of images making stereo pairs, possible. The appropriate mathematical bases and illustrations are included in the publication.

  5. Sedimentation problems in a lateral dock on the Paraná River

    The Paraná River is one of the largest water courses in the world and along its reach in the Argentine territory, it receives a large load of sediments from the Pilcomayo and Bermejo Rivers, through the Paraguay River, in the upper basin at the North of Argentina and South of Bolivia. The suspended sediment load is estimated in 100 Million ton/year. This unique characteristic drives the Paraná River morphology downstream, as well as the Paraná delta morphodynamics. On top of its natural behaviour, the Paraná-Paraguay river system is an important inland waterway transport corridor, with a significant amount of sea going vessels and inland barges navigating throughout stretches of more than 3000 Km. Consequently, there are numerous port complexes and terminals along the river banks. The typical wet infrastructure of these terminals is usually composed by jetties and quay walls, and occasionally with side or lateral docks. Whereas, the case included within this study presents all these components. This study presents a hydrodynamic and sedimentology 3D model to predict the velocity fields and the associated shear stresses that will drive morphological processes in the lateral dock. The terminal layout, side dock configuration, and sedimentation issues will be analyzed from multidisciplinary point of view, under different hydrological events and considering the correlated sediment loads. Recent bathymetry studies had been carried out and this set of data will be implemented to build the domain geometry. The flow series is as well extended with the up to date gauged flows and levels, to carry out statistical analysis and identify the design flows for different probabilities. The main objective of this analysis will be to understand and identify the scour and deposition processes and the possible problems to the structures safety and the operation of the docks, and introduce variations to the baseline design, if necessary.     Full Text Available After isolation of phytoplankton DNA in coastal waters of Durres Bay, Albania, quantification and analysis of quality were investigated with spectrophotometric analysis. Analysis of UV absorption by the nucleotides provides a simple and accurate estimation of the concentration of nucleic acids in a sample. This method is however limited by the quantity of DNA and the purity of the preparation. Also biotic environment factors as Chlorophyll a and abiotic environment factors as temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, nitrate, phosphate were investigated to assess DNA quantities in different environment conditions. The Chlorophyll a was studied also to access the level of trophy. The sample stations were: Golem Beach (GB, Channel of Plepa (ChP, Hekurudha Beach (HB, Ex-Fuel Quay in Marine Durres Harbour (EFQ, Water Channel of Durres City (WChDC and Currila Beach (CB. Samples are taken in one meter depth from the water surface. Water samples were collected monthly from April to October 2011. The most abundant stations with phytoplankton DNA are Channel of Plepa and Water Channel of Durres City. This confirms that there are spills of fresh waters, sewage or agricultural water spills, often discharge in coastal waters. Referring Mutliple Regression Analysis and single regression analysis, the association between phytoplankton DNA and environment factors was strong (R2 = 0.75. Basing in single correlation and statistically significance (p-value ≤ 0.05, the enviroment factors that correlated to phytoplankton DNA were pH, salinity and phosphate; explaining thus the variation of total phytoplankton in Durres Bay coastal waters.

  7. Interhemispheric gradient of atmospheric radiocarbon reveals natural variability of Southern Ocean winds

    Full Text Available Tree ring Δ14C data (Reimer et al., 2004; McCormac et al., 2004 indicate that atmospheric Δ14C varied on multi-decadal to centennial timescales, in both hemispheres, over the period between AD 950 and 1830. The Northern and Southern Hemispheric Δ14C records display similar variability, but from the data alone is it not clear whether these variations are driven by the production of 14C in the stratosphere (Stuiver and Quay, 1980 or by perturbations to exchanges between carbon reservoirs (Siegenthaler et al., 1980. As the sea-air flux of 14CO2 has a clear maximum in the open ocean regions of the Southern Ocean, relatively modest perturbations to the winds over this region drive significant perturbations to the interhemispheric gradient. In this study, model simulations are used to show that Southern Ocean winds are likely a main driver of the observed variability in the interhemispheric gradient over AD 950–1830, and further, that this variability may be larger than the Southern Ocean wind trends that have been reported for recent decades (notably 1980–2004. This interpretation also implies that there may have been a significant weakening of the winds over the Southern Ocean within a few decades of AD 1375, associated with the transition between the Medieval Climate Anomaly and the Little Ice Age. The driving forces that could have produced such a shift in the winds at the Medieval Climate Anomaly to Little Ice Age transition remain unknown. Our process-focused suite of perturbation experiments with models raises the possibility that the current generation of coupled climate and earth system models may underestimate the natural background multi-decadal- to centennial-timescale variations in the winds over the Southern Ocean.

We also note that the sinusoidal temperature profile generated suggests that thermal integrated circuits with several thermal P-N junctions may be constructed, opening a way to create more complex thermal transistor circuits. A stationary principle is proposed for regions that violate the Fourier principle Jq.∇T ≤ 0, where Jq is the heat current vector and T the temperature.

    The present paper reports on the development of a modified problem checklist for use in normal samples of elementary school children. The two factors, Hypersensitivity and Distractibility, replicated over male and female samples. Hypersensitivity showed a significant grade effect, with a decrease between the first and second grade for both boys and girls. In contrast, boys scored higher than girls on Distractibility and there were no grade differences. Convergent validitiy data from peer judgments, in-class activity level, physical fitness measures, standardized achievement scores, and a comparison with another teacher judgment are presented. In addition, three Behavioral Problem Checklist (Quay & Peterson, 1967) dimensions, Conduct Problem, Personality Problem, and Inadequacy--Immaturity, were developed and their relationships to the independent measures, as well as to the new dimensions, are presented. The pattern of correlations of Distractibility was quite similar for boys and girls, with both being rated as Mean-Noisy by their peers. The findings for Hypersensitivity were somewhat weaker. Distractibility and Conduct Problem scores reflected a similar pattern of correlations with other variables; in a like manner, Hypersensitivity and Personality Problem scores reflected a similar pattern of correlations with other variables. Distractibility was related to an increased activity level and Hypersensitivity was related to a decreased activity level in young boys. The total number of behavior problems was related to a decrease in activity level for young girls. Older Distractible and Hypersensitive girls showed different patterns of activity level. It is proposed that problem behavior is more complex for older children and that Distractibility may be less influenced by the usual socialization process of school than is Hypersensitivity and may have some congenital antecedents.

    The presentation is directed to the description of the actual geodetic infrastructure of Barcelona harbour with three tide gauges of different technologies for sea level determination and contribution to regional sea level rise and understanding past and present sea level rise in the Barcelona harbour. It is intended that the overall system will constitute a CGPS Station of the ESEAS (European Sea Level) and TIGA (GPS Tide Gauge Benchmark Monitoring) networks. At Barcelona harbour there is a MIROS radar tide gauge belonging to Puertos del Estado (Spanish Harbours).The radar sensor is over the water surface, on a L-shaped structure which elevates it a few meters above the quay shelf. 1-min data are transmitted to the ENAGAS Control Center by cable and then sent each 1 min to Puertos del Estado by e-mail. The information includes wave forescast (mean period, significant wave height, sea level, etc.This sensor also measures agitation and sends wave parameters each 20 min. There is a GPS station Leica Geosystems GRX1200 GG Pro and antenna AX 1202 GG. The Control Tower of the Port of Barcelona is situated in the North dike of the so-called Energy Pier in the Barcelona harbor (Spain). This tower has different kind of antennas for navigation monitoring and a GNSS permanent station. As the tower is founded in reclaimed land, and because its metallic structure, the 50 m building is subjected to diverse movements, including periodic fluctuations due to temperature changes.     The presentation is directed to the description of the actual situation and relevant information of the geodetic infrastructure of Ibiza and Barcelona sites for sea level determination and contribution to regional sea level rise. Time series are being analysed for mean sea level variations www.puertos.es. .In the framework of a Spanish Space Project, the instrumentation of sea level measurements has been improved by providing the Barcelona site with a radar tide gauge Datamar 2000C from Geonica s.l. near an acoustic tide gauge. Puertos del Estado installed in 2007 a MIROS radar tide gauge and the Barcelona Harbour Authority a GPS referente station in the roof of the new Control Tower situated in the Energy Pier. The radar sensor is over the water surface, on a L-shaped structure which elevates it a few meters above the quay shelf. 1-min data are transmitted to the ENAGAS Control Center by cable and then sent each 1 min to Puertos del Estado by e-mail. There is a GPS station Leica Geosystems GRX1200 GG Pro and antenna 1202. Precision levelling has been made several times in the last two years because the tower is founded in reclaimed land. The measured settlement rate is about 1cm/year that may be could mask the values registered by the tide gauge. A description of the actual infrastructure at Ibiza harbour at Marina de Botafoch, is presented and its applications to sea level monitoring and altimeter calibration in support of the main CGPS at Ibiza harbour. It is described the geometrical precision levelling made in June 2013 between the radar tide gauge and the GPS station. In particular, the CGPS located at Ibiza harbour is essential for its application to the marine campaign Baleares 2013, near Ibiza island. The main objective is to determine the altimeter bias for Jason-2, about 9:09 UTC September 15, 2013, and Saral/AltiKa, about 05:30 UTC September 16, UTC.   13. Discrete event simulation model for external yard choice of import container terminal in a port buffer area

    Increasing container traffic and land acquisition problem for terminal expansion leads to usage of external yard in a port buffer area. This condition influenced the terminal performance because a road which connects the terminal and the external yard was also used by non-container traffic. Location choice problem considered to solve this condition, but the previous research has not taken account a stochastic condition of container arrival rate and service time yet. Bi-level programming framework was used to find optimum location configuration. In the lower-level, there was a problem to construct the equation, which correlated the terminal operation and the road due to different time cycle equilibrium. Container moves from the quay to a terminal gate in a daily unit of time, meanwhile, it moves from the terminal gate to the external yard through the road in a minute unit of time. If the equation formulated in hourly unit equilibrium, it cannot catch up the container movement characteristics in the terminal. Meanwhile, if the equation formulated in daily unit equilibrium, it cannot catch up the road traffic movement characteristics in the road. This problem can be addressed using simulation model. Discrete Event Simulation Model was used to simulate import container flow processes in the container terminal and external yard. Optimum location configuration in the upper-level was the combinatorial problem, which was solved by Full Enumeration approach. The objective function of the external yard location model was to minimize user transport cost (or time) and to maximize operator benefit. Numerical experiment was run for the scenario assumption of two container handling ways, three external yards, and thirty-day simulation periods.     Full Text Available A coastal zone is the interface between the land and water that influenced by both of them. Coastal dynamic is influenced by many factors from land and sea, such as sedimentation and current. In order to support marine facility, Marine Geological Institute of Indonesia (MGI plan to build a port. The prospective area is behind MGI office at Cirebon. This study use multi temporal remote sensing data in order to observe trend of coastline change around MGI. Based on the interpretation of the data, there are sedimentation around the MGI water and abrasion due to the presence of Kejawanan’s jetty and Kalijaga River. The result also shows that the current in this region is moving from southeast to northwest. The presence of the Kejawanan’s jetty stymies the movement of sediment. The sediment which is normally moving to the north of the jetty is then trapped on the south side of the structure, so that the sediment precipitates in this region and makes it as the active region of sedimentation and accretion. The presence mangrove conduces to support sedimentation speed and accretion at this region, because of his function as the catchment area. Abrasion occurs in the eastern part of MGI office at the Kalijaga river mouth within the bay. The Kalijaga River mouth is predicted to be the primary source of sedimentation in this area. The coastline change caused by sedimentation will be continuing as long as it is supplied by the sediment. The direction of the sedimentation is parallel to the jetty and it forms ellipsoid, with the sedimentation/accretion region is behind MGI office. The abrasion area is found in Kalijaga River mouth and a small area beside Kalijaga River. In order to build a port, we have to consider this sedimentation process. One of the alternatives to build the port is to make a quay pile model which gives way the current to pass through the other side of the port.     Full Text Available La personnalité d’Edouard Thouvenel, diplomate français dont le nom a été le plus fréquemment lié de la réalisation de l’Union des Principautés, le long des années 1856-1859, est souvent et justement invoquée dans la compréhension de cette séquence importante de l’histoire moderne des Roumains du milieu du XIX-ème siècle. Né le 11 novembre 1818, à Verdun, entré en diplomatie en 1841, chargé avec des affaires et ministre plénipotentiaire (entre 1846-1849 à Athènes et ensuite à München (en 1851, Edouard Thouvenel a été nommé directeur des Affaires politiques dans le Ministère des Affaires Etrangères de la France en février 1852. En 1854, sa carrière est sauvée par Napoléon III lui-même; celui-ci le nomme ambassadeur à Constantinople en pleine guerre de Crimée (3mai 1855. Il a exercé cette fonction pendant cinq années, 1855-1860, période marquée par le Congrès de Paris, par la question des Principautés Roumaines et le début du problème italien, qui a provoqué la démission du ministre des Affaires Etrangères en fonction, Alexandre Walewski, en décembre 1859. Donc, successeur de Walewski, Edouard Thouvenel a occupé la fonction de ministre des Affaires Etrangères jusqu’en 1862, lorsqu’il demissionera. Les années à suivre, il a été le président de la Compagnie de Chemins de Fer d’Est, ensuite grand référendaire du Sénat, en 1865.     Ports are complex environments due to their complicated geometry (quays, channels, and piers), the presence of human activities (vessel traffic, yards, industries, and discharges), and natural factors (stream and torrent inputs, sea action, and currents). Due to the many activities that take place in a port, sediments and waters are often contaminated by different kinds of chemicals, such as hydrocarbons, dioxins, pesticides, nutrients, and metals. The contamination rate of a port basin is site specific and depends on the sources of contamination in the nearby urban system as well as the port system itself, such as city discharges and sewers, river intake, vessel traffic, factories (Taylor and Owens, 2009). Moreover, two important sources and vehicles of contaminants are: a) anthropogenic road deposited sediments derived from the runoff of the port and city area, and natural road deposited sediments derived from rivers and torrents, and b) airborne particulate matter and sediments (Taylor and Owens, 2009). The Port of Genoa is situated at the apex of the Ligurian Sea in the north western Mediterranean Sea and is characterised by the presence of several commercial activities that have contributed, over the years, and still contribute today, to the contaminant accumulation in both the water column and the bottom sediments. This port basin includes the mouth of several streams and the mouth of the Bisagno and the Polcevera Torrents, along the banks of which can be found several small towns, quarries, factories, and the suburbs of the city of Genoa, a ferry terminal, different container terminals, marinas, dry docks, the coal power plant of Genoa, and different wastewater treatment plant discharges.     Bio-turbulence or bio-mixing refers to the contribution of living organisms towards the mixing of waters in oceans and lakes. Experimental measurements in an unstratified tank by Wilhelmus & Dabiri (2014) show that zooplankton can trigger fluid instabilities through collective motions and that energy is imparted to scales bigger than organism's size of few mm. Length scales analysis, for low-Reynolds-number organisms in stratified water by Leshansky & Pismen (2010) and Kunze (2011), estimate eddy diffusivity up two orders of magnitude larger than the molecular thermal diffusivity. Very recently, Wand & Ardekani (2015) showed a maximum diffusivity of 10-5 m2/s for millimetre-sized organisms from numerical simulations in the intermediate Reynolds number regime. Here we focus our attention on turbulence generated by the vertical migration of zooplankton in a small lake, mostly populated by Daphnia spp. This very common species, belonging to Cladocera order, is engaged in a vertical migration (DVM) at sunset, with many organisms crossing the thermocline despite the density stratification. During the ascension they may create hydrodynamic disturbances in the lake interior where the stratification usually suppresses the vertical diffusion. We have conducted five turbulence experiments in Vobster Quay, a small (area ˜ 59,000 m2), deep (40m) man-made basin with small wind fetch and steep sides, located in the South West UK. Turbulence was measured with a temperature microstructure profiler. To asses the zooplankton vertical concentration we used a 100 μm mesh net, by collecting and analyzing samples in 8 layers of the lake. A bottom-mounted acoustic Doppler current profiler was also employed to track their concentration and migration with the measured backscatter strength. Measured dissipation rates ɛ during the day showed low turbulence level (diffusivity was as much as 10-5 m2/s.     The historical development of the Carnot cycle necessitated the construction of isothermal and adiabatic pathways within the cycle that were also mechanically 'reversible' which lead eventually to the Kelvin-Clausius development of the entropy function S where for any reversible closed path C, ∮{sub C} dS = 0 based on an infinite number of concatenated Carnot engines that approximated the said path and where for each engine ΔQ{sub 1}/T{sub 1}+ΔQ{sub 2}/T{sub 2} = 0 where the Q's and T's are the heat absorption increments and temperature respectively with the subscripts indicating the isothermal paths (1;2) where for the Carnot engine, the heat absorption is for the diathermal (isothermal) paths of the cycle only. Since 'heat' has been defined as that form of energy that is transferred as a result of a temperature difference and a corollary of the Clausius statement of the Second law is that it is impossible for heat to be transferred from a cold to a hot reservoir with no other effect on the environment, these statements suggested that the local mode of transfer of 'heat' in the isothermal segments of the pathway does imply a Fourier heat conduction mechanism (to conform to the definition of 'heat') albeit of a 'reversible' kind, but on the other hand, the Fourier mechanism is apparently irreversible, leading to an increase in entropy of the combined reservoirs at either end of the material involved in the conveyance of the heat energy.   6. Coupling model and its algorithm for truck scheduling based on time-window constraint%考虑时间窗约束的集卡调度耦合模型及求解

    In order to achieve the minimum number of Yard Truck ( YT) and the shortest delay time in the problem of YT scheduling of container terminals, an innovative optimization method using multidisciplinary variable coupling is presented. Firstly, the problem is divided into YT distribution problem and YT configuration problem, and the YT dispatching sub-model and YT configuration sub-model are established respectively. The two sub models are linked through the common design variables, and the YT coordinated scheduling coupling model based on quay crane job scheduling and time-window constraint is built with setting the iteration conditions. Finally, the coupling model is used to solve certain examples, using C# language calling CPLEX12.2, and the optimal YT num-ber and the coordinated scheduling scheme for multiple operation routes are obtained. The scheme has good convergence. The results show that the presented scheme can decrease the number of YT by 7.69% and reduce the total delay time by 10.12%, compared with using YT dispatching model and YT configuration model respectively, which indicates the effectiveness and practicality of the new scheme.%针对集装箱码头集卡调度问题,目的为使集卡数最小且延误时间最短。创新性的采用多学科变量耦合优化设计方法,将该问题分为集卡运输方式问题和集卡数量配置问题,分别建立集卡分派子模型和集卡配置子模型,使用公用设计变量连接模型,设定迭代计算条件建立基于岸桥作业并考虑时间窗约束的集卡协调调度耦合模型。利用该耦合模型应用C#语言调用CPLEX12.2对算例进行求解,得到面向多作业路的最优集卡数量和协调调度方案,方案具有良好的收敛性。结果表明,与分别采用集卡调度模型和配置模型比集卡数降低7.69%,总延误时间降低10.12%,说明该模型的有效性和实用性。

    Full Text Available The project of the new station of Torino Porta Susa is the project of a huge urban public space, where the station, conceived as an urban gallery, becomes a real street, a “passage”, a new kind of urbanity shape for the future city. The railway station’s transparent volume - a 385 m (the length of the TGV long steel and glass tunnel, 30 m. width, with a variable height compared to the outdoor street level (between 12 and 3 m at the height of the cover - is proposed as a modern reinterpretation of the nineteenth century’s urban galleries and the great historical station’s halles, as well as a kind of symbolic building. Symbol of movement, of the travel universe and the presence of the transportation universe in the contemporary city, urban simulacrum of the object train disappeared from the urban scene below the future Central Spine. The sinuous movement of the tunnel follows the flows of urban pedestrians from the city towards the different transportation modes presents at various levels (national and international lines AV, regional lines, subways, taxis ... emphasizing with its lowering the presence of the big void inside of the underground subway station, about 20 meters deep. The gallery, oriented north-south, folds with its internal pedestrian paths to bring natural light and the sky of Turin, to the quays of trains (at an altitude of -10 m and the Subway (which share -20, transformed so’ in a sort of urban sidewalks. The fast rhythm of the structure of arches with step 360 cm. is marked by the presence of numerous openings along the longitudinal development of the gallery, which is crossed by three transversal passages inside the gallery and is bounded by two others on the north and south of the lot, connecting the city from east to west at street level in continuity with pre-existing axes. The presence of these transversal passages accentuates the urban value of the Spina which was to reconnect the two sides of the city until

The meaning concept implied here is a modal one, since all action types are defined by means of counterfactual statements: what would happen, had we not done anything, a course of events termed "passive projection" in Ryan 1991. This modal conception of meaning is among the stock of trade in structuralist linguistics: meaning units are constituted by means of differences and are defined negatively against units that are possible now, but not actualized. Saying that something is blue is to negate that it is green, brown, yellow, etc. The German sociologist Niklas Luhmann has a meaning definition very much in agreement with this. To Luhmann, meaning is a specific mode of experience: namely that human experience, although always filled with a specific actual content, is still aware of the possible contents that are left out: Experience experiences itself as variable [...]. It does not find itself closed and self-contained, not restricted to itself, but is always referring to something that is at the moment not its actual content. [...] The problem of integrating the actuality of experience with the transcendence of its other possibilities remains inescapable, and inescapable, too, is the form of experience processing that accomplishes this. It is this that I call meaning.     green in the localities with blooms of the diatom Coscinodiscus. The central portion of the bay, 150 Km[squared] hole-green, full of larvae of shrimps Penaeus schmidti; some shoals of shrimps moves its pleopods and by displacement of botton with diatoms and reddish sediment produces a rust color spot in surface of waters seen by fishermen. The estuaries are Isabell color, and caramel. That is a preliminar survey, to future comparison, because to day Sepetiba Bay is not polluted. But futurelly, it will be polluted by an harbour for 3.000,000 tons of iron ore, and by a quay for cargo boats, and siderurgy mills, airports, and other industries. Several polluted waters of Guanabara Bay are black and asphalt color, and cub color. That colors are not found in Sepetiba Bay to day. In 1965, we do not find the "red waters" and "red tides" with blooms of dinoflagellates in Sepetiba Bay, that they are present sometimes in Guanabara Bay with mortalities of fishes. Sepetiba Bay is not biologic problem, to day, is not polluted. The fig. 3 shows a map of transparence of waters by the disc of Secchi and a relation is given of color and transparence, in Sepetiba: Forel color 5: transparence 2.8 m to 2.9 m; Forel n. 6: 2.0 m; Forel color n. 7: 1.0 m to 1.5 m. Moss green waters: 0.6 to 1.5 m; hellebore green waters: 0.9 to 1.5 m; emerald green waters: 2.0 m to 2.2 m; In Guanabara Bay, into the polluted Enseada de Inhaúma: asphalt color waters: 0.02 - 0.05 m; and in black waters: trasnparence of 1 cm.
