  2. An analysis of GPT2/GPT2w+Saastamoinen models for estimating zenith tropospheric delay over Asian area

    The tropospheric delay is a systematic error source in the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning. However, without accuracy meteorological information, the quality of the Zenith Tropospheric Delay (ZTD) derived from empirical tropospheric models like Saastamoinen model will degrade, leading to inaccurate estimates of positions. To solve the above problem, on the basis of Global Pressure and Temperature 2/2w (GPT2/GPT2w) model, this paper conducted GPT2/GPT2w+Saastamoinen models for estimating ZTD over Asian area. As GPT2w model has two resolutions of 1 and 5 degrees, the effects of two models (GPT2_5w+S refers to GPT2w+Saastamoinen model with the resolution of 5 degree; GPT2_1w+S refers to GPT2w+Saastamoinen model with the resolution of 1 degree) were analyzed respectively. The model's validation was carried out using the International GNSS Service (IGS) ZTD values derived from the observed data in the year 2012 at 27 IGS stations. The results show that the GPT2_1w+S model can provide tropospheric delay corrections with bias of 0.66 cm and Root Mean Square (RMS) of 4.93 cm, which is superior to GPT2+S model. The annual bias and RMS for the GPT2_5w+S model are slightly worse than that for the GPT2_1w+S model. For most stations, the bias and RMS show seasonal characteristics. The relation between the annual bias and RMS with latitude for the models is not obvious, and a latitude dependency between the models could not be detected.

    Full Text Available Si se busca este libro en una estantería existen muchas posibilidades de no encontrarlo. Esto es debido a su poca envergadura, por lo que no es de extrañar que pueda quedar enterrado entre libros más voluminosos y caros, cargados de fotografías, verdaderos enemigos de este tipo de publicación, frágil y flexible, a la que se dedica esta reseña cuyo objetivo no es otro que el de recomendar su lectura y devolverle cierta visibilidad si ha quedado oculto, olvidado o se desconoce su existencia.Los ojos de la piel. La arquitectura y los sentidos (Juhani Pallasmaa. Ed.: Wiley-Academy. Cichester. 2005, dentro de sus apenas 70 páginas de formato A5 con tipografía de 12 puntos en la edición manejada (Gustavo Gili 2010 esconde una estantería entera de depurada biblioteca: en torno a 100 libros aparecen en el cuerpo de notas, con referencias -por tomar la primera y la última- desde Goethe a Frank Lloyd Wright, y entre las cuales se van desgranando textos sobre filosofía, arquitectura, cinematografía, literatura... En cualquier caso, el discurso se hilvana con una naturalidad amabilísima, que permite una lectura reposada, sin que toda esa carga de conocimiento pese molestamente sobre el lector: en definitiva, es un buen libro que anima a leer otros libros, a conocer más, didáctico pudiera decirse.

    CHARM (CERN High energy AcceleRator Mixed field facility) is a completely new facility being built now in the east area building 157, and is currently under the commissioning phase. It is to be used as a facility for radiation testing electronics. CHARM uses a 24 GeV beam to hit a target creating a mixed field of radiation. The target is a rotating revolver with four different targets to choose from, two copper, one solid aluminum and one aluminum with holes in it. Four movable shields allows the user to change the field to simulate the radiation that would be received in LHC tunnel, adjacent areas, in space etc. A years worth of radiation exposure in the LHC could be simulated in only a few days in CHARM. There will be two conveyor systems for bringing electronics into the test position. One for small electronic boards mounted in a 300 × 300 × 200 mm box, and can have a maximum weight of 10 kg.     Full Text Available RESUMEN: En el contexto actual de efervescente y alocada pasión por los procedimientos y arquitecturas digitales y paramétricas, parece doblemente pertinente dedicar un pequeño espacio a la revisión de algunos textos de autores que se han manifestado abierta y decididamente sus reservas frente a este tipo de subproductos arquitectónicos y han argumentado concienzudamente las razones de tal rechazo. Tras Los Ojos de la Piel: La Arquitectura y los Sentidos este nuevo libro supone una continuación de las ideas sugeridas en aquél acerca de la condición "corporal" del ser humano. Pallasmaa extenderá su análisis mucho más allá de la mano, explorando el significado de lo que se viene denominando "embodiment".En todo caso, no es esta la única aportación interesante del libro. Pallasma explora en diferentes capítulos, Pallasma explora también conceptos e ideas que se antojan apropiadísimos hoy tales como "El Trabajo de Pensar" y "El Valor de la Incertidumbre", las relaciones entre "Resistencia, Tradición y Libertad", o la arquitectura como "Imagen de Vida", que desembocan en la propuesta final de una arquitectura que aminora la velocidad y reduce el ruido, defiendiendo la natural lentitud y diversidad de la experiencia y protege el silencio.

    Tropospheric delay has always been an important issue in GNSS/DORIS/VLBI/InSAR processing. Most commonly used empirical models for the determination of tropospheric Zenith Hydrostatic Delay (ZHD), including three meteorological models and two empirical ZHD models, are carefully analyzed in this paper. Meteorological models refer to UNB3m, GPT2 and GPT2w, while ZHD models include Hopfield and Saastamoinen. By reference to in-situ meteorological measurements and ray-traced ZHD values of 91 globally distributed radiosonde sites, over a four-years period from 2010 to 2013, it is found that there is strong correlation between errors of model-derived values and latitudes. Specifically, the Saastamoinen model shows a systematic error of about -3 mm. Therefore a modified Saastamoinen model is developed based on the "best average" refractivity constant, and is validated by radiosonde data. Among different models, the GPT2w and the modified Saastamoinen model perform the best. ZHD values derived from their combination have a mean bias of -0.1 mm and a mean RMS of 13.9 mm. Limitations of the present models are discussed and suggestions for further improvements are given.

    China is a country of vast territory with complicated geographical environment and climate conditions. With the rapid progress of the Chinese BeiDou satellite navigation system (BDS); more accurate tropospheric models must be applied to improve the accuracy of navigation and positioning. Based on the formula of the Saastamoinen and Callahan models; this study develops two single-site tropospheric models (named SAAS_S and CH_S models) for the Chinese region using radiosonde data from 2005 to 2012. We assess the two single-site tropospheric models with radiosonde data for 2013 and zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) data from four International GNSS Service (IGS) stations and compare them to the results of the Saastamoinen and Callahan models. The experimental results show that: the mean accuracy of the SAAS_S model (bias: 0.19 cm; RMS: 3.19 cm) at all radiosonde stations is superior to those of the Saastamoinen (bias: 0.62 cm; RMS: 3.62 cm) and CH_S (bias: -0.05 cm; RMS: 3.38 cm) models. In most Chinese regions; the RMS values of the SAAS_S and CH_S models are about 0.51~2.12 cm smaller than those of their corresponding source models. The SAAS_S model exhibits a clear improvement in the accuracy over the Saastamoinen model in low latitude regions. When the SAAS_S model is replaced by the SAAS model in the positioning of GNSS; the mean accuracy of vertical direction in the China region can be improved by 1.12~1.55 cm and the accuracy of vertical direction in low latitude areas can be improved by 1.33~7.63 cm. The residuals of the SAAS_S model are closer to a normal distribution compared to those of the Saastamoinen model. Single-site tropospheric models based on the short period of the most recent data (for example 2 years) can also achieve a satisfactory accuracy. The average performance of the SAAS_S model (bias: 0.83 cm; RMS: 3.24 cm) at four IGS stations is superior to that of the Saastamoinen (bias: -0.86 cm; RMS: 3.59 cm) and CH_S (bias: 0.45 cm; RMS: 3.38 cm

In this paper, we evaluate the accuracy of three tropospheric delay models, together with five mapping functions in wet delays calculation. The evaluations are conducted by comparing their slant wet delays with those measured by water vapor radiometer based on its satellite-tracking function (collected data with large liquid water path is removed). For all 15 combinations of three tropospheric models and five mapping functions, their accuracies as a function of elevation are statistically analyzed by using nine-day data in two scenarios, with and without meteorological data. The results show that (1) no matter with or without meteorological data, there is no practical difference between mapping functions, i.e., Chao, Ifadis, Vienna Mapping Function 1 (VMF1), Niell Mapping Function (NMF), and MTT Mapping Function (MTT); (2) without meteorological data, the UNB3 is much better than Saastamoinen and Hopfield models, while the Saastamoinen model performed slightly better than the Hopfield model; (3) with meteorological data, the accuracies of all three tropospheric delay models are improved to be comparable, especially for lower elevations. In addition, the kinematic precise point positioning where no parameter is set up for tropospheric delay modification is conducted to further evaluate the performance of tropospheric delay models in positioning accuracy.     The integrated precipitable water (IPW) in the troposphere can be subject to strong spatial and temporal variations, in particular over tropical zones. The IPW is estimated at the Geodetic Tahiti Observatory site from GPS, radiosonde, radiometer measurements. 8 years (2001-2008) of GPS observations at the IGS THTI station are processed with the GIPSY-OASIS II software package following the precise point positioning (PPP) mode. We compare the IPW of the permanent GPS data with those derived from the collocated radiometer and radiosonde data. The Global Forecast System (GFS) model which covers the entire globe with one degree latitude and longitude grid spacing, is then used to obtain the IPW at the same site. The meteorological surface data (pressure, temperature and relative humidity) also help to compute the IPW by using the Saastamoinen model. Finally, the analysis of the correlation between all these IPW estimates leads us to re-adjust the Saastamoinen parameters such that correction coefficients now better constrain the tropospheric model.

  20. Precise troposphere delay model for Egypt, as derived from radiosonde data

    Real GPS data of six stations in 8-day period were used for the assessment of zenith part of PTD model against the available international models. These international models include Saastamoinen, Hopfield, and the local Egyptian dry model proposed by Mousa & El-Fiky. The data were processed using Bernese software version 5.0. The closure error results indicate that the PTD model is the best model in all session, but when the available radiosonde stations are less, the accuracy of PTD model is near to classic models. As radiosonde data for all ten stations are not available every session, it is recommended to use one of the regularization techniques for database to overcome missing data and derive consistent tropospheric delay information.

  1. Estimation of the Atmospheric Refraction Effect in Airborne Images Using Radiosonde Data

    The influence of the atmospheric refraction on the geometric accuracy of airborne photogrammetric images was already considered in the days of analogue photography. The effect is a function of the varying refractive index on the path from the ground to the image sensor. Therefore the effect depends on the height over ground, the view zenith angle and the atmospheric constituents. It is leading to a gradual increase of the scale towards the borders of the image, i.e. a magnification takes place. Textbooks list a shift of several pixels at the borders of standard wide angle images. As it was the necessity of that time when images could only be acquired at good weather conditions, the effect was calculated using standard atmospheres for good atmospheric conditions, leading to simple empirical formulas. Often the pixel shift caused by refraction was approximated as linear with height and compensated by an adjustment of the focal length. With the advent of sensitive digital cameras, the image dynamics allows for capturing images at adverse weather conditions. So the influence of the atmospheric profiles on the geometric accuracy of the images has to be investigated and the validity of the standard correction formulas has to be checked. This paper compares the results from the standard formulas by Saastamoinen with the results calculated from a broad selection of atmospheres obtained from radiosonde profile data. The geometric deviation is calculated by numerical integration of the refractive index as a function of the height using the refractive index formula by Ciddor. It turns out that the effect of different atmospheric profiles (including inversion situations) is generally small compared to the overall effect except at low camera heights. But there the absolute deviation is small.     GPS signal undergoes an additional time delay due to the index of refraction. The time delay produced by the troposphere increases with decreasing elevation angle and approaches a value corresponding to a range error of about 25 m for an elevation angle of 5 degree. The characteristics and error correction model of troposphere delay are systematically investigated. At the same time, a simple troposphere delay model is proposed based on Saastamoinen model. Simulation results indicate that this simply model can effectively eliminate troposphere delay and improve GPS positioning accuracy without the actual measured meteorological parameters.%对流层延迟与对流层的折射率有关,且随着卫星仰角的减小而增加,在卫星仰角为5°时会产生25 m 左右的误差,给 GPS 导航定位带来不利的影响。系统地分析了对流层延迟特性并对常用的误差修正模型进行了比较。基于 Saastamoinen 模型提出了一种简易的对流层延迟修正模型,该模型不需测量气象参数,且实验结果表明,简易修正模型可以很好地消除对流层影响,有效地提高了GPS 导航定位系统的精度。

    Full Text Available In this paper, I will examine the aesthetic implications of the theories which regard the city as an image. Essentially, I will focus on the positions of the two practitioners, Kevin Lynch and Juhani Pallasmaa, who are an urban planner and an architect respectively, in order to confront two very different approaches to the ‘image’; namely, an empirical approach and a phenom‑ enological one. I am interested in what the city becomes when it is looked upon as an image and I will reflect on the experiences of the city‑image in its various aspects. The aim of this discussion is an attempt to outline certain research areas for exploring the aesthetics of the city centred on the image, with the practitioners’ theories enabling us to widen the scope of this exploration.

    The ionosphere and troposphere are main error sources of satellite navigation system measurement and main factors of COMPASS availability. The influence of the ionosphere and troposphere delay error model on the RAIM availability of COMPASS is analyzed in simulation where ephemeris datum is adopted, and especially the influence of different troposphere models on RAIM availability in civil aviation is analyzed. The experiment at results shows that the delay error of ionosphere and troposphere changes from 0 to 14.555 9 m and 0 to 23.779 6 m correspondingly. And for the non-precision approach stage of civil aviation, when Saastamoinen model, UNB3 model and Hopfield model are used as the troposphere model of COMPASS respectively, the RAIM availability is 99.308%, 92.041 5% and 100% corre-spondingly. So it is more suitable that Hopfield model is used as the troposphere model of COMPASS and the 99.9% RAIM availability requirement in civil aviation can be achieved using this model.%电离层和对流层是卫星导航系统测量的主要误差源,也是北斗卫星导航系统可用性变化的重要因素。采用星历数据仿真分析了电离层和对流层延迟误差模型对北斗导航系统RAIM可用性的影响,特别分析了不同对流层模型对民用航空的影响。实验表明电离层和对流层的延迟误差分别为0~14.5559 m及0~23.7796 m,且在民用航空的非精密进近阶段,用 Saastamoinen 模型、UNB3模型及 Hopfield 模型分别作为北斗的对流层误差模型的RAIM可用性分别为99.308%、92.0415%和100%,相比较Hopfield模型更适合作为北斗卫星导航系统的对流层模型,能满足民用航空的99.9%RAIM可用性要求。

    We processed a eight-year time series (2001-2008) of zenith wet delay and associated precipitable water (PW) contents from the permanent GPS station THTI (OGT) and a corresponding precipitation time series from the pluviometer of the Matatia valley (7 km South East from the GPS receiver). Daily GPS data were obtained (including zenith total delay and North and East gradients) by applying the PPP strategy of the GIPSY-OASIS II package w.r.t. IGS final products. We used the Saastamoinen model to extract the hydrostatic part of the delay. Taking into account surface meteorological measurements, we transformed the resulting wet delay into an estimate of PW above the receiver. The precipitation dataset consisted of rainfall gauge measurements spanning the same period provided by the "Direction de l'Equipement" (GEGDP). This work poses a preliminary diagnostic on the evolution of PW and precipitations over French Polynesia with emphasis on a broad range of timescales, from seasonal to diurnal components. Before this study, no monitoring system had provided accurate and quasi continuous measures of PW in French Polynesia.

    Tropospheric delay computation is necessary to improve GPS measurements accuracy. Precise determination of these propagation delays requires knowledge of the full refraction profile at signal path. In the present research, precise troposphere slant delay model (PTD) is derived based on ten stations of radiosonde data well-distributed over and around Egypt. To derive the PTD, the troposphere is divided into regular small layers. Ray tracing technique of actual signal path traveled in the troposphere is used to estimate tropospheric slant delay. Real GPS data of six stations in 8-day period were used for the assessment of zenith part of PTD model against the available international models.   7. Assessment of Neutrospheric Zenith Delay predictions from regional NWP in the context of PPP quality results.

    The effect that the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) satellites signals suffer when passing through the electrically neutral Earth's atmosphere (neutrosphere) is due to the presence of gases and water vapor with heterogeneous distribution. This effect is the neutrospheric (or tropospheric) delay. In order to minimize such delay, which is normally mapped to the zenith (ZND), models can be used: theoretical models (blinds models; Hopfield; Saastamoinen); Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models; or estimated during the GNSS data processing. ZND obtained from the regional NWP models present better accuracy when assessed against the estimated ZND (reference), because the influence of regional climatic characteristics is better described when using NWP. Such models include continentality, dry and wet (like Amazon region) regions, seasonality with stronger variation (summer and winter), as well as a better spatial resolution. In Brazil, CPTEC/INPE (Center for Weather Forecasting and Climate Studies/Brazilian Institute for Space Research) is operating a NWP model for South America. ZND/CPTEC predictions are produced as an operational product from regional NWP. In this work our main aim is to assess the quality of PPP (Precision Point Positioning) considering the temporal resolution of the new CPTEC/INPE NWP regional model. For doing that, the impact of different neutrosphere models in the context of PPP, considering blind models for the neutrosphere delay in the PPP are also assessed by comparison to the ZND/CPTEC model. The analysis is accomplished in different Brazilian regions considering the ZND seasonal variations.

    The objective of this project is to prepare, based on the Quality Assurance Manual for Recovered Fuels, a SFS-standard 'Processing of waste to solid fuel'. The fundamentals for safe energy use in co-combustion will be stated in the standard. The standard unifies the terminology and contributes to equation of recovered fuels with other solid fuels. The work is prepared by an expert group of about twenty persons. Juhani Juvonen, Research Scientist, VTT Energy, acts as the author of the proposal and the technical secretary of the expert group. Other group members help in preparing the work as experts of their domain. The expert group introduces the proposal for the standardization committee, which processes and comments the proposal at its own meetings. The standard proposal is processed, until it is ready for circulation among different interest groups. The statements will be processed both in the expert group and the standardization committee, after which the standard will be revised to be send to SFS to be approved as SFS standard. The work on standardization was started in 1998 and the first practical actions were taken on 24 September 1998 at a meeting held in the General Industry Federation (YTL). The preliminary objective is to have the standard approved during the year 1999. (orig.)

    Full Text Available Contemporary historical preservation practice includes olfactory preservation as an experimental method of architectural preservation. The implementation of manufactured scents in historic buildings raises important issues of authenticity. This paper focuses on three important issues in the relation between olfactory preservation and authenticity: the importance of phenomenology in memory evocation; the relative character of the authenticity concept; and the significance of social values in historic preservation. This requires a critical examination of charters, documents and theoretical interpretations which reflect a broader concept of authenticity. The paper discusses certain articles of the Venice Charter, the Nara Document on Authenticity, as well as the sense of smell in architectural experience through critical analysis of the theories of John Ruskin, Viollet-le-Duc, Roger Scruton and Juhani Pallasmaa and their concepts of authenticity. Authenticity issues are illustrated by the examples of olfactory preservation: olfactory reconstruction of Philip Johnson’s Glass House; interior restoration and olfactory reconstruction of the Arts Club in Mayfair, London; and the creation process of the perfume brand Arquiste, a meaningful example which relocates the olfactory reconstruction context. These critical analyses raise the question of scent in historic buildings as a value in itself.

  12. Comparison of time series of integrated water vapor measured using radiosonde, GPS and microwave radiometer at the CNR-IMAA Atmospheric Observatory

    Information about the amount and spatial distribution of atmospheric water vapor is essential to improve our knowledge of weather forecasting and climate change. Water vapor is highly variable in space and time depending on the complex interplay of several phenomena like convection, precipitation, turbulence, etc. It remains one of the most poorly characterized meteorological parameters. Remarkable progress in using of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), in particular GPS, for the monitoring of atmospheric water vapor has been achieved during the last decades. Various studies have demonstrated that GPS could provide accurate water vapor estimates for the study of the atmosphere. Different GPS data processing provided within the scientific community made use of various tropospheric models that primarily differs for the assumptions on the vertical refractivity profiles and the mapping of the vertical delay with elevation angles. This works compares several models based on the use of surface meteorological data. In order to calculate the Integrated Water Vapour (IWV), an algorithm for calculating the zenith tropospheric delay was implemented. It is based upon different mapping functions (Niell, Saastamoinen, Chao and Herring Mapping Functions). Observations are performed at the Istituto di Metodologie per l'Analisi Ambientale (IMAA) GPS station located in Tito Scalo, Potenza (40.60N, 15.72E), from July to December 2014, in the framework of OSCAR project (Observation System for Climate Application at Regional scale). The retrieved values of the IWV using the GPS are systematically compared with the other estimation of IWV collected at CIAO (CNR-IMAA Atmospheric Observatory) using the other available measurement techniques. In particular, in this work the compared IWV are retrieved from: 1. a Trimble GPS antenna (data processed by the GPS-Met network, see gpsmet.nooa.gov); 2. a Novatel GPS antenna (data locally processed using a software developed at CIAO); 3

  13. Evaluation of Atmospheric Loading and Improved Troposphere Modelling

    Forward modeling of non-tidal atmospheric loading displacements at geodetic tracking stations have not routinely been included in Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositionning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) or Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) station analyses for either POD applications or reference frame determination. The displacements which are computed from 6-hourly models such as the ECMWF and can amount to 3-10 mm in the east, north and up components depending on the tracking station locations. We evaluate the application of atmospheric loading in a number ways using the NASA GSFC GEODYN software: First we assess the impact on SLR & DORIS-determined orbits such as Jason-2, where we evaluate the impact on the tracking data RMS of fit and how the total orbits are changed with the application of this correction. Preliminary results show an RMS radial change of 0.5 mm for Jason-2 over 54 cycles and a total change in the Z-centering of the orbit of 3 mm peak-to-peak over one year. We also evaluate the effects on other DORIS-satellites such as Cryosat-2, Envisat and the SPOT satellites. In the second step, we produce two SINEX time series based on data from available DORIS satellites and assess the differences in WRMS, scale and Helmert translation parameters. Troposphere refraction is obviously an important correction for radiometric data types such as DORIS. We evaluate recent improvements in DORIS processing at GSFC including the application of the Vienna Mapping Function (VMF1) grids with a-priori hydrostatic (VZHDs) and wet (VZWDs) zenith delays. We reduce the gridded VZHD at the stations height using pressure and temperature derived from GPT (strategy 1) and Saastamoinen. We discuss the validation of the VMF1 implementation and its application to the Jason-2 POD processing, compared to corrections using the Niell mapping function and the GMF.     Aiming at the poor performance of tradition models in the zenith tropospheric non-hydrostatic delay evaluation,a variable method based on improved Hopfield model was proposed.The meteorological parameters formula in the model of medium latitude atmosphere was used to infer the formula of the hydrostatic and non-hy-drostatic delay again in this method.In order to get the factors of temperature and water vapor pressure,the method interpolated value in the table of global tropospheric delay atmosphere parameter.By using the meteoro-logical data of eight International GPS service stations in Asia,the tropospheric delay was compared between im-proved model and tradition models,such as Hopfield model,Saastamoinen model and Black model.Computing results showed that the accuracy of improved model was better than tradition models.%针对传统对流层延迟模型在估计天顶湿延迟方面存在精度不高和稳定性差的问题,提出了基于改进Hopfield模型的对流层天顶延迟估计方法。该方法利用中纬度大气模式中的气象参数公式,重新推导了Hopfield模型中静力项和湿项延迟表达式,并利用全球对流层延迟气象参数格网值进行内插获取温度变化率和水汽压系数。选取亚洲地区不同经纬度的八个国际 GPS 服务(IGS,International GPS Service)站的气象数据,分别采用传统模型和改进模型进行对流层天顶延迟估计,计算结果表明改进模型的精度优于传统模型,尤其是湿项延迟方面,估算精度提高了一个数量级。

  15. NRT Atmospheric Water Vapour Retrieval on the Area of Poland at IGG WUELS AC

    Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are designed for positioning, navigation and amongst other possible applications it can also be used to derive information about the state of the atmosphere. Continuous observations from GNSS receivers provide an excellent tool for studying the neutral atmosphere, currently in near real-time. The Near Real-Time (NRT) neutral atmosphere and water vapour distribution models are currently obtained with high resolution from Ground Base Augmentation Systems (GBAS), where reference stations are equipped with GNSS and meteorological sensors. The Poland territory is covered by dense network of GNSS stations in the frame of GBAS system called ASG-EUPOS (www.asgeupos.pl). This system was established in year 2008 by the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography in the frame of the EUPOS project (www.eupos.org) for providing positioning services. The GNSS data are available from 130 reference stations located in Poland and neighbour countries. The ground meteorological observations in the area of Poland and neighbour countries are available from ASG-EUPOS stations included in EUREF Permanent Network (EPN) stations, airports meteorological stations (METAR messages stations), and stations managed by national Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (SYNOP messages stations). Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics (IGG) of Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences had created permanent NRT service of ZTD (Zenith Total Delay) estimation for the area of Poland from GPS observations called IGGHZG. The first part of the paper presents the methodology of NRT GNSS data processing for ASG-EUPOS stations for ZTD estimation and its comparison to the results coming from EPN ACs and Military University of Technology in Warsaw AC (MUT AC).   16. Trends in modelling neutral-atmospheric electromagnetic delays in a `big data' world

    Modelling the delay suffered by electromagnetic waves while they cross the neutral-atmosphere is of fundamental importance for several applications that help enhancing our understanding of the Earth system. Initially, this modelling was based on climatological models derived from sparse data sets. An improvement in models followed as more observing techniques became available, and denser networks started to be developed. In this category, for example, we can include models and mapping functions due to Saastamoinen, Hopfield, as well as empirical models such as UNB3. Somehow in parallel, and more recently, investigation efforts started to be concentrated on the use of numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, from where neutral-atmospheric delay parameters can derived through ray-tracing. Computationally more expensive this approach has led to the development of the Vienna Mapping Functions (VMF), which are provided based on several NWP models such as the ECMWF, NOAA and CMC. VMF services have been developed and can be used in support to the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS), which is a component of the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). The use of NWPs changed the paradigm from the use of simple model equations to the derivation of the delay directly from a huge amount of data. There are a few limitations in both approaches. Models based on climatology are based on sparse data covering a certain period of time, whereas NWP models although based on more realistic data, are provided on intervals that range several hours. A third way is about to be engaged, and it can be seen as a natural development due to an increase in the number of sensors and an enhancement of their geographical distribution, generating a continuous flow of data, being them both satellite-based and ground-based. The question that is posed ahead of us is on how to make use of these huge data sets, which will provide the best possible representation of the neutral

  17. ESTIMATION OF PRECIPITABLE WATER VAPOR BASED ON INTERPOLATED PRESSURE DATA%基于插值气压的GPS反演大气可降水量研究

    The meteorological data are obtained by pressure interpolation for the estimation of GPS precipitable water vapor (PWV) due to the lack of meteorological parameters at GPS sites.The pressure interpolation formula based on segmented height difference is derived by analyzing the relationship between the interpolated pressure at the GPS sites and the pressure at the nearby radiosonde (RS) stations,and the relationship between the interpolated pressure of the GPS sites and the height difference between the IGS stations and the nearby radiosonde stations using the standard atmosphere (SA) model.The new pressure interpolation formula has the same accuracy as the SA model,and the former is simple when the height difference is less than 100 m.GPS PWV is derived from the new pressure interpolation formula,Saastamoinen zenith hydrostatic delay (ZHD) model and the local weighted mean temperature of the atmosphere (Tm).By comparing with RS PWV,the results show that the new pressure interpolation model can be used to calculate GPS PWV with no meteorological data at GPS stations which the RMS error between GPS PWV obtained from the pressure interpolation formula based on segmented height difference and RS PWV is 1-3 mm.%为解决GPS反演大气可降水量(PWV)所需的气象参数,通过标准大气(SA)模型分析插值得到了GPS站气压与相邻探空站气压、GPS站与探空站之间高差的关系,及基于分段高差的气压插值公式.该公式与标准大气模型精度相当,且在高差小于100 m时,其计算更为简单.利用新的气压插值公式、Saastamoinen干延迟模型与建立的局地加权平均温度模型,将四个IGS站(BJFS、KUNM、LHAZ和TWTF)提供的对流层天顶延迟转化得到大气可降水量(GPS PWV),与探空大气可降水量(RS PWV)进行对比,结果表明在不同高差条件下基于分段高差的气压插值模型计算得到的GPS PWV与RS PWV差值的均方根误差为1~3mm,说明该气压插值模型可应用于无气象数据的GPS反演PWV.
