Resumo em inglês We report herein the synthesis of some beta-D-galactopyranosylamine and beta-lactosylamine amides and sulfonamides. The interactions of these compounds with lectins from the seeds of Erythrina cristagalli (LEC) and Ricinus communis (RCA120) were evaluated in a hemagglutination inhibitory activity assay. D-Galactose and lactose were used as reference compounds. The beta-lactosylamine amides and sulfonamides were nearly as active as lactose in inhibiting LEC mediated hemagg (mais) lutination and were less active against RCA120 agglutinin. The beta-D-galactopyranosylamine amides and sulfonamides were, with one exception, considerably less active than D-galactose in the assay with both lectins.

Resumo em português Foi avaliada, no presente estudo, a toxicidade de amidas análogas à piperina utilizando-se larvas de 3º instar de Ascia monuste orseis Godart e Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith). Os bioensaios consistiram na aplicação tópica de 0.5 µl das seguintes amidas: N-isopentil-(3,4-metilenodioxifenil)-amida, N-isopropil-(3,4-metilenodioxifenil)-amida, N-hexil-3-(3,4-metilenodioxifenil)-amida e butóxido de piperonila. Os valores de DL50 (mg i.a./ mg larva) das amidas N-iso (mais) propil e N-hexil para A. monuste foram 0.278 e 0.004, respectivamente; para S. frugiperda foram: 1.359 e 0.613, respectivamente. O maior valor das inclinações das curvas de dose-resposta dentre os compostos, para ambas as espécies de inseto foi obtido para N-isopropil, o que indica maior homogeneidade de resposta a esse produto. N-isopropil foi o composto que se mostrou mais promissor como inseticida pois foi mais tóxico a ambas espécies-praga investigadas. Resumo em inglês The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxicity piperine amide analogs to 3rd-instar larvae of Ascia monuste orseis Godart and Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith). The bioassays were based on the topical application of 0.5 µl of the following amides: N-isopenthyl-(3,4-metilenodioxiphenyl)-amide, N-isopropyl-(3,4-metilenodioxiphenyl)-amide, N-hexyl-3-(3,4-etilenodioxiphenyl)-amide and piperonyl butoxide. The DL50 (mg a.i./ mg larva) values of the amides N-isopropy (mais) l e N-hexyl to A. monuste orseis were 0,278 and 0,004, respectively, and to S. frugiperda were 1.359 and 0.613, respectively. The steeper slopes of the dose-response curves for both species were obtained with N-isopropyl, indicating the higher homogeneity of response of the pest species studied to this compound. N-isopropyl was also the most promising piperine synthetic analog as insecticide agent among the compounds studied because it was the most toxic amide to both insect-pest species.

Redução de amidas por boranos/ Reduction of amides by boranes

Resumo em inglês Despite the fact that boranes are frequently used in amide reductions, the reaction mechanisms of the involved are note well known. This work presents the results of a bibliographic search on probable amide reduction mechanisms and an analysis of the existing literature. Steric and electronic effects were considered in light of reactivity since it could be concluded that the formation of intermediates and products depends mainly on the substitution patterns of both the bo (mais) ron and nitrogen atoms. Otherwise, results described in the literature for the reactions of boranes, sodium borohydride, lithium aluminum hydride, alkylboranes or haloboranes with others functional groups such as carboxylic acids, esters, ketones and alkenes were analysed with the aim to obtain something about the N-substituted amide reactions employing boranes.

Resumo em inglês Recent biochemical and pharmacological studies have led to the characterization of different fatty acid amides as a new family of biologically active lipids. Here, we describe the synthesis of new amides from C16:0, 18:0, 18:1 and 18:1, OH fatty acids (FFA) families with cyclic and acyclic amines and demonstrate for the first time that these compounds produce citotoxic effects. Application of this method to the synthesis of fatty acid amides was performed using the esters (mais) aminolysis as a key step and various carboxylic amides were prepared in good yield from fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs).

Resumo em português O ácido 6alfa,7beta-di-hidroxivouacapan-17beta-óico foi isolado das sementes de Pterodon polygalaeflorus Benth (Leguminosae) e então dez novas amidas derivadas deste ácido foram preparadas. Os efeitos destas amidas na germinação de sementes de Sorghum bicolor L. e Cucumis sativus L. foram avaliados. Nove compostos, a uma concentração de 100 ppm, mostraram um efeito inibitório (5-21%) no crescimento radicular de C. sativus L.. A N-(t-butil)-6alfa,7beta-di-hidroxiv (mais) ouacapan-17beta-amida mostrou a maior ação inibitória (33%) para S. bicolor L.. Somente a N-benzil-6alfa,7beta-di-hidroxivouacapan-17beta-amida mostrou efeito estimulatório no crescimento radicular para C. sativus L. e S. bicolor L., de 16% e 34% respectivamente. Resumo em inglês The 6alpha,7beta-Di-hydroxyvouacapan-17beta-oic acid was isolated from the seeds of Pterodon polygalaeflorus Benth (Leguminosae) and, then, ten new amide derivatives of this acid were prepared. The effects of these amides on the radicle growth of Sorghum bicolor L. and Cucumis sativus L. were evaluated. Nine compounds, at a concentration of 100 ppm, showed an inhibitory effect (5-21%) on the radicle growth of the C. sativus L.. The N-(t-butyl)-6alpha,7beta-di-hydroxyvouac (mais) apan-17beta-amide showed the most effective inhibitory action (33%) for S. bicolor L.. Only the N-benzil-6alpha,7beta-di-hydroxyvouacapan-17beta-amide showed stimulatory growth effect both for C. sativus L. and S. bicolor L. of 16% and 34% respectively.

Resumo em inglês Two amides, piperovatine and isopiperlonguminine, were isolated from the roots of Ottonia martiana Miq., a herbaceous shrub commonly used in folk medicine in the treatment of toothache. The crude extract (CE) and isolated compounds were submitted to bioautography and allelopathic assay. The bioautograms allowed the detection of compounds with antibacterial activity and the identification of the bioactive substance piperovatine. The CE and amides exhibited an allelopathic effect on Lactuca sativa (lettuce) seedling growth but did not affect the seeds' germinability.

Resumo em inglês By using DSC data, the enthaplies of sublimation for ethyleneurea and propyleneurea, are calculated as 84 and 89 kJ mol-1 respectively. Using the vaporization enthalpy values for dimethylethyleneurea and dimethylprophyleneurea, as obtained from literature, the empirical relation: Dcrg Hmo (1)/ Dcrg Hmo (2) = Dlg Hmo (1)/ Dlg Hmo(2) = constant, that relate sublimatio (mais) n or vaporization enthalpies of two different substances and of its methylated derivatives, is obtained. Correlations like that are found to another ureas and thioureas.

Resumo em português Os óleos essenciais dos frutos e talos finos de Piper tuberculatum e das raízes de P. hispidum, coletados no estado de Rondônia, foram obtidos por hidrodestilação e analisados por GC e GC-MS. Foram identificados como constituintes majoritários, nos óleos dos frutos e talos finos de P. tuberculatum, o óxido de cariofileno (32,1%) e (26,6%) e o (E)-cariofileno (17,7%) e (12,3%), respectivamente. No óleo essencial das raízes de P. hispidum, foram identificados, com (mais) o constituintes majoritários, o dilapiol (57,5%), a elemicina (24,5%) e o apiol (10,2%). Do extrato etanólico dos frutos de P. tuberculatum, foram isolados os esteróides β-sitosterol e estigmasterol, as amidas piplartina e dihidropiplartina e um derivado do ácido cinâmico, o ácido 3,4,5-trimetoxi-dihidrocinâmico. Resumo em inglês The essential oils of the fruits and fine stems of Piper tuberculatum and of the roots of P. hispidum, collected in the state of Rondônia, had been gotten by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Caryophyllene oxide - 32,1% in fruits and 26,6% in fine stem, and (E)-caryophyllene - 17,7% in fruits and 12,3% in fine stems, were identified as the major constituents in such parts of P. tuberculatum. In the essential oil of the roots of P. hispidum, dillapiol (57,5% (mais) ), elemicine (24,5%) and apiole (10,2%) were identified as the most abundant constituents. From the ethanolic extract of the fruits of P. tuberculatum, the steroids β-sitosterol and stigmasterol, the amides piplartine and dihidropiplartine and the derivative of the cinâmico acid 3,4,5-trimethoxy-dihidrocinâmic acid were isolated.

Poliaminas na embriogênese somática em cenoura (Daucus carota L.)/ Polyamines in somatic embryogenesis in carrot (Daucus carota L.)

Resumo em português As poliaminas, putrescina (put), espermidina (spd) e espermina (spm) são amplamente distribuídas na natureza, desempenhando importante papel em vários eventos celulares. Considerando que as poliaminas estão envolvidas no processo embriogênico, torna-se importante conhecer as bases para estas alterações no metabolismo. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi observar os teores de poliaminas durante as diferentes fases da embriogênese somátka da cenoura. As análises f (mais) oram realizadas, através da modificação do método de Flores e Galston a cada 96 horas durante 50 dias da cultura de células em suspensão. As células foram obtidas a partir de calos e inoculadas em meio de Murashige & Skoog (MS), modificado e acrescido de 0,2 mg/l de 2,4-D e 0,1 mg/l de cinetina durante os primeiros 14 dias da cultura, sendo que no restante do período permaneceram em meio MS desprovido de fiorreguladores. Os teores de poliaminas oscilaram durante todo o processo embriogênico, sendo que a putrescina foi a que apresentou maior acúmulo. Estes resultados sugerem que os níveis de espermidina e espermina são reduzidos em relação a putrescina devido a intensa utilização da spd e spm no processo de divisão e diferenciação celular, enquanto que a put parece ter apenas a função de sintetizar as outras duas amidas. Resumo em inglês The polyamines, putrescine (Put), Spermidine (Spd) and Spermine (Spm) are widely present in nature, performing an important role in various cellular events. Considering that polyamines take part of the embryogenic process, it is important to know the bases for these alterations in the metabolism. The objective of the present study was to observe the contents of polyamines during the different phases of somatic embryogenesis of carrot. Analyses were carried out, according (mais) to a modification of the method developed by Flores & Galston every 96 hours during 50 days from the culture of cell suspensions. The cells were provided from callus and inoculated in Murashige & Skoog (MS) medium which had been modified and added with 0.2 mg/l of 2,4-D and 0.1 mg/l of Idnetin during the first 14 days, whereas for the other days, they were kept in MS medium deprived of phytoregulators. The contents of polyamines varied during all the embryogenic process, when putrescine showed the most accumulated. These results suggest that the levels of Spermidine and spermine are reduced in relation to putrescine due to the intense use of Spd and Spm in the process of cell division and differentiation, whereas Put seems to have only the function of synthetizing the other two amines.
