The Electromagnetic and Proca Fields Revisited: a Unified Quantization

Aldaya Valverde, Víctor; Calixto Molina, Manuel; Navarro, Miguel

Quantizing the electromagnetic field with a group formalism faces the difficulty of how to turn the traditional gauge transformation of the vector potential, Aμ(x) → Aμ(x) + ∂μϕ(x), into a group law. In this paper it is shown that the problem can be solved by looking at gauge transformations in a sl...

Resumen en inglés A vector-borne disease model has been developed through system dynamics to represent the entomological, epidemiológica! and climatic interactions of malaria transmission conductive to disease outbreaks in Muquí prone-region, Chocó province, along the Pacific coast. The entomological exogenous variables considered relevant for malaria incidence have been collected from laboratory experiments and field data (indoor and outdoor captures). The parasite transmission between (mas) linking mosquitoes and vertébrate host populations during a blood meal has been represented usina three infectious disease models: the Entomological Inoculation Rate, the Basic Reproduction Rate and the Vectorial Capacity for diverse vector density scenarios. Considering a breeding place availability model and several predator-prey-food models allow us to represent the vectorial densities fluctuations observed during the fields campaigns. The comprehensive model has been applied to represent malaria incidence during the period Nov/1997-Feb/2001 (40 months, 1200 days simulation period), when both El Niño and La Nina events strongly affected the hydro-climatology of Colombia. The model has been run for observed climatic patterns such as mean daily temperatures, total daily precipitation records, and mean daily relative humidities gathered by a nearby climatological station. Diverse temperature scenarios have been considered to deepen the understanding of the entomological-climatic linkages conductive to malaria outbreaks. Sensitivity analysis and instabilities cases have been also studied during the experimentation-validation processes. Obtained results allow us to conclude that the model constitutes a promising tool to deepen the understanding of the ecological, entomological, and epidemiológica! linkages conductive to malaria outbreaks.

Rodríguez-Domínguez, A.R
2007-08-01

Resumen en inglés In an earlier work, the dynamic equations for a relativistic charged particle under the action of electromagnetic fields were formulated by R. Yamaleev (1) in terms of external, as well as internal momenta. Evolution equations for external momenta, the Lorentz-force equations, were derived from the evolution equations for internal momenta. The mapping between the observables of external and internal momenta are related by Viete formulae for a quadratic polynomial, the cha (mas) racteristic polynomial of the relativistic dynamics. In this paper we show that the system of dynamic equations, constructed in Ref. 1, can be cast into the Heisenberg scheme for a four-dimensional quantum system. Within this scheme the equations in terms of internal momenta play the role of evolution equations for a state vector, whereas the external momenta obey the Heisenberg equation for an operator evolution. The solutions of the Lorentz-force equation for the motion inside constant electromagnetic fields are presented via pentagonometric functions.

Corchete y curvatura

Di Scala, Antonio J.
2005-12-01

Resumen en inglés The first part of this article presents the definition of Lie Bracket related to commuting flows of vector fields. In the second part, basic definitions and of connections and curvature are given in order to emphasize the link between Lie Brackets and curvature. Finally, by using locally-defined connections, we give a short and original proof of a classical theorem of Beltrami. The article is addressed to a non specialist in local differential geometry.
