Manometría esofágica en el paciente geriátrico

Resumen en español Se estudiaron 112 pacientes mayores de 65 años, con edad promedio de 71,6 años, 65 del sexo femenino y 47 del masculino. Se realizó estudio manométrico del esófago en todos los casos y se compararon los resultados con un grupo de 48 sujetos sanos, 38 del sexo masculino y 10 del femenino, con edad promedio de 28,7 años. El diagnóstico manométrico en el 61,6 % de los casos fue de trastorno motor inespecífico, en el 31,2 % de hernial hiatal, en el 26,7 % de acalasia (mas) esofágica y sólo el 5,3 % presentó un estudio manométrico normal. Se comprobó que la presión de reposo del esfínter esofágico superior, la intensidad y duración de la onda primaria en esófago superior, la longitud y porcentaje de relajación del esfínter esofágico inferior, fueron significativamente menores, para una p Resumen en inglés 112 patients over 65 with an average age of 71.6 years old were studied. 65 of them were females and 47 were males. Resumen en español En este artículo se comparan los resultados de dos modelos teóricos para caracterizar la impedancia de entrada en cámaras de expansión reactivas. El primero consiste en una integración numérica de la ecuación diferencial no lineal que gobierna la propagación sonora de ondas planas en conductos de sección variable. El segundo es el método clásico de la matriz de transferencia. Las estimaciones se comparan con los resultados experimentales de cuatro casos geomét (mas) ricos, medidos por medio del método de los dos micrófonos y la función de transferencia. El estudio muestra que los resultados del método numérico dan valores comparables en precisión al método de la matriz de transferencia. La introducción del número de onda complejo permite cuantificar la atenuación que sufren las ondas sonoras dentro de los conductos. De esta forma, el método numérico permite que pueda ser aplicado a aquellos casos en que no existan matrices de transferencia definidas Resumen en inglés This article compares the results of two theoretical models for characterizing the input impedance of reactive expansion chambers. One method consists of a numerical integration of a non-linear differential equation for the plane wave sound propagation through ducts of varying cross-sections. The second is the classical transfer matrix method. The estimated values are compared with experimental results obtained for four geometrical cases, measured by means of the two-micr (mas) ophone technique and the transfer function. The results show that the estimates using the numerical method give values comparable in accuracy to the transfer matrix method. Introduction of a complex wave number allows quantification of the attenuation of the sound waves inside the ducts. Thus, the numerical method allows application of the method in cases where the transfer matrices are not defined
