Evaluación de preservantes florales en la poscosecha de tres variedades de clavel estándar/ Evaluation of floral preservatives in the postharvest of three varieties of standard carnation

Resumen en español En clavel es imprescindible el tratamiento poscosecha a base de tiosulfato de plata (STS), para garantizar una mayor longevidad floral; sin embargo, los tratamientos antietilénicos a base del ión plata implican contaminación ambiental. El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar la evaluación de diferentes compuestos en la poscosecha de clavel estándar variedades Nelson, Dream y Delphi, como posibles sustitutos del STS. Para este fin, se utilizaron tratamientos a base d (mas) e STS, SR-AOA (ácido aminooxacético de liberación lenta) y quitosan. En seguida a la cosecha de los tallos florales se realizó una simulación de viaje con una duración aproximada de 21 días; posteriormente, las flores fueron sometidas a evaluaciones de longevidad, velocidad de apertura, color y consumo de agua. En la evolución de la vida en florero, se observó la misma tendencia para las tres variedades: un primer grupo de mayor longevidad floral, conformado por los tratamientos a base de SR-AOA y STS, con un promedio de durabilidad de 14 a 20 días; y el segundo grupo, de menor longevidad floral, conformado por los tratamientos a base de quitosan, quitosan más ácido cítrico, quitosan más AOA y testigo absoluto, con una duración promedio de 6 a 8 días. Resumen en inglés In cut carnation, it is indispensable the postharvest treatment based on silver thiosulphate (STS) in order to guarantee high flower longevity; nevertheless, the anti-ethylene treatments with the silver ions imply an environmental pollution. The objective of this study was to carry out the evaluation of different compounds in the post harvest of standard carnation varieties Nelson, Dream and Delphi, as possible replacements of the STS treatment. For this purpose, the trea (mas) tments based on STS, SR-AOA (slow release aminooxyacetic acid) and chitosan were used. Following the harvest of flower stalks, a trip simulation for 21 day was carried out; subsequently, the flowers stalks were evaluated for longevity, blooming speed, color and water consumption. In the evolution of the vase life, the same tendency for the three varieties was observed: a first group of higher flower longevity conformed by treatments based on SR-AOA and STS had an average duration from 14 to 20 days; and the second group of lower flower longevity conformed by the treatments based on chitosan, chitosan plus citric acid, chitosan plus AOA and absolute control had an average duration from 6 to 8 days.

Resumen en inglés Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared by means of the polyol method in the absence of stabilizing polymers. To accomplish this objective, AgNO3 was added to ethylene glycol in the presence of NaOH (1 mol.L-1), the suspension formed was irradiated with a microwave source for 60 seconds at a power of 465 watts. It was found that under these conditions AgNPs of sizes between 4-18 nm are formed. Also the results indicate that part of the ethylene glycol is oxidized to ca (mas) rbonyl compounds that reduce the Ag+. These organic compounds are adsorbed on the surfaces of AgNPs, forming a protective film that prevents their aggregation.
