Quimioluminiscencia electrogenerada del luminol usando electrodos de bajo costo/ Electrogenerated chemiluminescence of luminol using low-cost electrodes

Salgado, Guillermo; Navarrete, José; Bustos, Carlos; Sánchez, Cristián; Ugarte, Ricardo
2006-04-01

Resumen en inglés The purpose of the study was to observe eletrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) of luminol using different materials as electrodes such as wires, nails, coins, razor blades, etc. Based on the experimental observations and the mechanisms proposed in the literature, students should be capable of analyzing their results in order to understand the phenomena studied. Students could then elaborate a mechanism of action consistent with the experimental results which could ration (mas) alize the formation of intermediates in the reaction and the dependence of ECL on solution pH in addition to other points of interest

There are qualitative and quantitative differences in epitope A. Blood cells A1 are binded by Dolichus biflorus lectin(ant1-A1), blood cells A2 are binded by Ulex europareus lectin (anti-H) whereas Aint are indistinctively binded by both lectins in an unexpected way. Aint subjects were looked for among normal healthy individuals according to their reaction to the aforementioned lectins. (mas) Our results agree with previous remarks on the marked heterogenecity of blood cells Aint . One-thousand three hundred one samples were studied resulting in 703 from O group (54,04%); 468 from A group (35,97%); 106 from B group (8,15%); 18 from A1B (1,38%) and 6 from A2B (0,46%). The samples A were subdivided into 346 A1(73,93%), 82 A2 (17,52%) and 40 Aint (8,55%). The detection of weak subgroups within the A group has a great importance for forensic practice and the study of population's dynamics. The study of Aint variant is relevant in Population Immunogenetics because of its contribution to the knowledge of crossbreeding with Black populations

Estudio teórico de la isomerización del ácido maleico en ácido fumárico: un enfoque basado en el concepto de superficie de energía potencial/ Theoretical study of the isomerization of maleic acid into fumaric acid: an approach based on the concept of potential energy surface

Ugarte, Ricardo; Salgado, Guillermo; Martinez, Rolando; Navarrete, José
2010-01-01

Resumen en inglés A comparative study based on potential energy surfaces (PES) of 2-butanedioic and hypothetic 2-butanedioic/HCl acids is useful for understanding the maleic acid isomerization. The PES enables locating conformers of minimum energy, intermediates of reactions and transition states. From contour diagrams, a set of possible reaction paths are depicted interconnecting the proposed structures. The study was carried out in absentia and in the presence of the catalyst (HCl), usin (mas) g an solvatation model provided by the Gaussian software package. Clearly, the effect of HCl is given by new reaction paths with lower energetic barriers in relation to the reaction without catalyzing.

Estudio Teórico de la Hidrólisis de Ésteres Alifáticos y Aromáticos/ Theoretical Study of Aliphatic and Aromatic Esters Hydrolysis

Caglieri, Silvana C; Macaño, Héctor R.
2010-01-01

A comparative theoretical study of reactivity of ethyl acetate hydrolysis, aliphatic ester, and ethyl benzoate hydrolysis, aromatic ester, catalyzed by acid, from the analysis of intermediates in both reactions was carried out. The geometry of all species involved in both hydrolysis was determined and the energies of all reagents and products were calculated, using two methods of electronic structure, DFT and AM1. The calculated values were compared with experimental and (mas) literature data finding good agreement. Following the same procedure, the geometric parameters and energies of reaction intermediates were determined, observing greater stability for the aliphatic intermediate, with lower energy compared with the aromatic. The energy difference between them was 34.11 kcal/mol
