Física mexicana de partículas elementales: organización, producción ciéntifica y crecimiento

Collazo-Reyes, Francisco; Luna-Morales, María Elena
2002-07-01

Resumen en inglés A bibliometric analysis of the contribution to fields and elementary particles physics by Mexican institutions is performed, using the SLAC-SPIRES-HEP database for the period 1971-2000. The analysis elaborates on aspects concerning their organization, production and growth, through the identification of the institutions with research programs connected to this area, their stratification by production levels, periods of contribution and geographic organization. Central ten (mas) dency measures of published papers are analyzed. The growth and future evolution were analyzed by polynomial and exponential curve-fitting and correlation proofs, as was the stratified growth per decade, institutions and research groups.

EPOC en el adulto mayor: control de síntomas en consulta del Médico de Familia/ Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in the elderly: control of symptoms in the GP's clinic

Guzmán Guzmán, Ramiro Eduardo
2008-10-01

Resumen en inglés The present review was carried out in order to make available basic and elementary aspects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in the geriatric patient. Being one of the pulmonary pathological processes caused by limitation of air flow associated with an abnormal inflammatory response to harmful particles or gases, it is similar to other age-related clinical conditions. The importance for the family doctor is to maintain the disease stable and to provide a bet (mas) ter quality of life, taking into account during this process the appearance of symptoms that show advanced stages of the disease, the impact of the disease on the patient's daily life and the degree of family and social support the patient receives. Therefore, the management of stable COPD is aimed at preventing the disease, relieving symptoms and preventing and treating complications and relapses. It must always be born in mind that advanced age is associated with complications and mortality, which means that we should always be aware of the possible need to hospitalize the patient under control.

μ-e conversion in nuclei and Z' physics

Bernabéu, José; Nardi, Enrico; Tommasini, Daniele

Together with the existence of new neutral gauge bosons, models based on extended gauge groups (rank > 4) often predict also new charged fermions. A mixing of the known fermions with new states with exotic weak-isospin assignments (left-handed singlets and right-handed doublets) will induce tree lev...

Supersymmetry parameter analysis: SPA convention and project

Allanach, B. C.; King, S. F.; Blair, G.A.; Kraml, S.; Kim, C. S.; Bagger, J. A.; Barnett, Stephen M.

High-precision analyses of supersymmetry parameters aim at reconstructing the fundamental supersymmetric theory and its breaking mechanism. A well defined theoretical framework is needed when higher-order corrections are included. We propose such a scheme, Supersymmetry Parameter Analysis SPA, based...
