Aplicación foliar de quelatos de zinc en nogal pecanero/ Foliar application of zinc chelates on pecan

Resumen en español Se estudio el efecto de la aplicación foliar de quelatos de zinc en árboles de nogal pecanero [Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch], de ocho años de edad, sobre la concentración de zinc, contenido de clorofila, índice foliar y calidad de nuez. Estos árboles fueron plantados en un xerosol cálcico de textura franca, pH alcalino y contenidos de materia orgánica y CaCO3 de 1.09 y 12.84%, respectivamente, los cuales mostraron deficiencia de zinc. El experimento se d (mas) esarrolló en 2007 y consistió en: T1) testigo, T2) NZN 100 mg·kg-1 Zn, T3) EDTA-Zn 150 mg·kg-1 Zn, T4) EDTA-Zn 100 mg·kg-1 Zn, T5) EDTA-Zn 50 mg·kg-1 Zn y T6) DTPA-Zn 100 mg·kg-1 Zn, los cuales fueron aplicados a partir de brotación hasta un mes antes de la cosecha, aunque ninguno de los tratamientos mejoró en forma significativa la concentración de zinc en las hojas, el DTPA-Zn obtuvo mejores resultados en un 34.84% que el resto de los tratamientos. Los valores de clorofila fueron de 39.445 unidades SPAD, que es equivalente a 43 mg·litro-1 de clorofila extractable, que concuerda con valores de deficiencia de Zn de 20 mg·kg-1. Lo mismo sucedió con el índice de área foliar, el cual se redujo en un 30% en condiciones de deficiencia. Las variables de calidad de nuez no se afectaron por los tratamientos. Los datos presentados son preliminares, por ser el nogal una especie alternante. Resumen en inglés During 2007, a study was carried on pecan trees 8-years age applying Zinc. Orchard soil conditions were to a xerosol calcic, loam texture, alkaline pH and organic matter and CaCO3 contents of 1.09 and 12.84% respectively. The experiment consisted on different applications of Zn products supplied from sprung leaf to maturity: Treatments were as followed: T1) Control, T2) NZN 100 mg·kg-1 Zn, T3) EDTA-Zn 150 mg·kg-1 Zn, T4) EDTA-Zn 100 mg·kg-1 Zn, T5) EDTA-Zn 50 mg·kg-1 (mas) Zn, T6) DTPA-Zn 100 mg·kg-1 Zn. Although none of the treatments significantly improved the concentration of zinc in the leaves, Zn-DTPA was a 34.84% better than the other treatments. The values of chlorophyll in this study were 39,445 SPAD units, which is equivalent to 43 mg·litro-1 extractable chlorophyll, consistent with values of Zn deficiency, 20 mg·kg-1. The same applies to the leaf area index which is reduced by 30% in conditions of deficiency. Results are preliminary due to that pecan trees present alternancy.

Resumen en español Hilos de oro de 0,50 mm de diámetro y longitud de 25 mm, se utilizaron como electrodos de trabajo. Estos electrodos fueron caracterizados electroquímicamente y determinadas sus áreas efectivas. La superficie de oro fue modificada químicamente con monocapas autoensambladas de tioles (SAMs) y mediante reacciones sucesivas se van uniendo covalentemente a la monocapa de tioles, ligandos con grupos quelantes de iones metálicos (derivados del ácido nitrilotriacético, ANT (mas) A) que muestran afinidad por receptores superficiales generados en una enzima mediante técnicas de ingeniería genética. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron buena sensibilidad, especificidad y estabilidad con las técnicas electroquímicas utilizadas en este trabajo. Resumen en inglés Gold threads of 0.50 mm of diameter and 25 mm in length were used as work electrodes. These electrodes were electrochemically characterized and their effective areas were determined. The gold surface was chemically modified with a self-assembled monolayer of thiols (SAMs) and, by means of successive reactions, they get bonded covalently to the thiols monolayer, ligands with chelates metallic ion groups (derived from the nitrilotriacetic acid, ANTA) which show affinity by (mas) surface receptors generated in a genetic enzyme via engineering techniques. The obtained results showed the good sensitivity, specificity and stability of the used electrochemical techniques in this work.
