Full Text Available The goal of this paper is to emphasize the phonetic and morphological features of the documents of the Cancillería of Alfonso X, which is labeled and used in the Diccionario Español de Documentos Alfonsíes. A deep analysis of these manuscripts reveal some differences, even if at the beginning of our research we could have an idea of standar vernacular. We can notice particularly these differences in the narratio in which we observe that it have nothing to do not only with the several notaries and no with the origin of the document but with the area which was addressed.

    Leonardo Funes

    2000-11-01

Directory of Open Access Journals (Sweden)

    Sophie HIREL-WOUTS

    2008-05-01

Menem's style should be understood as an answer to the economic crisis at the end of Alfonsinas presidential rule.

    2006-02-01

Firstly, we will analyze the documentation available, covering a time span of over a century, to calculate mathematically the rates within the monetary system on the basis of these sources. The exchange rate between the gold maravedí and the dinero de vellón was subjected to constant stresses due to the growing tendency of gold to appreciate with respect to silver and the unilateral manipulation of the value of the dinero by the king. The official exchange rate did not reflect these changes fast enough, and economic actors began to set their own conditions in their private transactions. The distortion produced in the economy by royal interventionism was fought with further encroachment through the implementation of price rates and export bans. At the end of our period of study, the maravedí alfonsí gave way to the dobla as the gold coin of reference, while the dinero de vellón began a period of constant devaluation.

Full Text Available Between 1976 and 1983, Argentina lived through the bloodiest dictatorship in its history. The most emblematic method of repression by the military juntas in power was the people’s enforced disappearance. After the end of the dictatorship, the associations of relatives and missing former detainees were involved in the struggle for the «truth, justice and memory» linked to democracy’s processing of the dictatorial past. This work intends to return to the speeches and the actions of these groups during the Presidential terms of office of both Raúl Alfonsín (1983-1989 and Carlos Menem (1989-1999. We will see how the situation evolved, going from a period in which their claims were in the foreground of the public sphere and the Government’s agenda to becoming a time of the so-called «national reconciliation» policies while in opposition. We’ll see how the main players focussed on keeping up their claims and to what extent the new situation allowed for the emergence of new players. We will examine how this group of actors used legal tools and memorials to continue their work and emphasize the uniqueness of the Argentine case in the construction of a collective memory.

    Prado-Alcala, R A; Quirarte, G L

The theory of memory consolidation, based on the work published by Georg Elias Muller and Alfons Pilzecker over a century ago, continues to guide research into the neurobiology of memory, either directly or indirectly. In their classic monographic work, they concluded that fixing memory requires the passage of time (consolidation) and that memory is vulnerable during this period of consolidation, as symptoms of amnesia appear when brain functioning is interfered with before the consolidation process is completed. Most of the experimental data concerning this phenomenon strongly support the theory. In this article we present a review of experiments that have made it possible to put forward a model that explains the amnesia produced in conventional learning conditions, as well as another model related to the protection of memory when the same instances of learning are submitted to a situation involving intensive training. Findings from relatively recent studies have shown that treatments that typically produce amnesia when they are administered immediately after a learning experience (during the period in which the memory would be consolidating itself) no longer have any effect when the instances of learning involve a relatively large number of trials or training sessions, or relatively high intensity aversive events. These results are not congruent with the prevailing theories about consolidation.

This source of information also enables us to appreciate the results of attempts to reduce the debt, thanks to measures adopted at the Concordia de Barcelona in 1431.

In spite of the fact that this figure has not been whoolly studied up to now, it furnishes us with a lot of information. Analyzing the Memorials given to these messengers by the government of the city—in this case Lleida—, it is possible to study the relationship between Lleida and the catalan Courts and, especially, what happened into the King's Estate and the arrangements that the city kept up with the Crown.

The segregation and random assortment of characters observed by Mendel have their basis in the behavior of chromosomes in meiosis. But showing this actually to be the case requires a correct understanding of the meiotic behavior of chromosomes. This was achieved only gradually, over several decades, with much dispute and confusion along the way. One crucial step in the understanding of meiosis was provided in 1909 by Frans Alfons Janssens who published in La Cellule an article entitled "La théorie de la Chiasmatypie. Nouvelle interprétation des cinèses de maturation," which contains the first description of the chiasma structure. He observed that, of the four chromatids present at the connection sites (chiasmata sites) at diplotene or anaphase of the first meiotic division, two crossed each other and two did not. He therefore postulated that the maternal and paternal chromatids that crossed penetrated the other until they broke and rejoined in maternal and paternal segments new ways; the other two chromatids remained free and thus intact. This allowed him also to propose that the chromatids distributed in the four nuclei issued from the second meiotic division had various combinations of maternal and paternal segments of each chromosome. And conversely, permitted the appreciation that the laws of Mendelian segregation required breakage and joining (crossing over) between homologous non-sister chromatids. Although Janssens's article found a broad appreciative audience and had a large influence on the chromosomal theory at that time, his theory was resisted by both geneticists and cytologists for several decades. This Perspectives aims to highlight the novelty of Janssens's chiasmatype theory by examining the historical background and our actual understanding of meiotic recombination.

    2009-03-01

We study the kinetics of the liquid-to-crystal transformation and of gel formation in colloidal suspensions of oppositely charged particles. We analyse, by means of both computer simulations and experiments, the evolution of a fluid quenched to a state point of the phase diagram where the most stable state is either a homogeneous crystalline solid or a solid phase in contact with a dilute gas. On the one hand, at high temperatures and high packing fractions, close to an ordered-solid/disordered-solid coexistence line, we find that the fluid-to-crystal pathway does not follow the minimum free energy route. On the other hand, a quench to a state point far from the ordered-crystal/disordered-crystal coexistence border is followed by a fluid-to-solid transition through the minimum free energy pathway. At low temperatures and packing fractions we observe that the system undergoes a gas-liquid spinodal decomposition that, at some point, arrests giving rise to a gel-like structure. Both our simulations and experiments suggest that increasing the interaction range favors crystallization over vitrification in gel-like structures. Tasyīr was one of the astrologer’s fundamental tools for the casting of a horoscope. This paper analyzes the information in the chapter on Tasyīr in Ibn Abī l-Rijāl’s (11th century book al-Bāri‘, concerning the methods, the techniques and the resources used. Its study highlights the channels through which science was transmitted and the ways in which the astrologer wrote his work using other sources, and stresses the importance of al-Bāri‘ in introducing new astrological knowledge from the East into the Maghrib and medieval Europe (knowledge that was used until the fifteenth century.

A high selectivity as well as significant fewer side effects can be achieved by this method, since the therapeutic treatment only takes place in the area where accumulation of the particles by an external electromagnet and radiation by a laser system overlap. In this article, a novel hypericin-bearing drug delivery system has been developed by synthesis of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs with a hypericin-linked functionalized dextran coating. For that, sterically stabilized dextran-coated SPIONs were produced by coprecipitation and crosslinking with epichlorohydrin to enhance stability. Carboxymethylation of the dextran shell provided a functionalized platform for linking hypericin via glutaraldehyde. Particle sizes obtained by dynamic light scattering were in a range of 55–85 nm, whereas investigation of single magnetite or maghemite particle diameter was performed by transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction and resulted in approximately 4.5–5.0 nm. The scholars of the Curial have easily related the love of the African Camar with the love stories –also African– of Eneas and Dido. However, they have not paid attention to the figure of the Roman martyr Perpetua of Carthage, a young scholar of the Eneida who was tied to a post and exposed to the lions, among other biographical aspects that could be linked to the character of Camar in the Curial. The revision of the Minutes of the martyrdom (versions A and B, released together and the fictionalized Passio Perpetuae (3rd century allow us to notice coincidences in the plot and intertextual connections with the chivalric novel of the 15th century. The fact that these sources were easily accessible in Italy (Milano, Naples and unknown in the Iberian Peninsula reinforces the idea –generally accepted by the criticism– of a Curial e Güelfa written in

Full Text Available Contrary to the received view of translating as an ascetic activity, this paper examines translation as a collective practice in the 18th century. The paper discusses both historical and fictitious tertulias and focuses on two projects of founding a translators' academy (Iriarte, Joseph Vargas Ponce. It deals with forms of sociability which —by practicing, criticizing and reflecting on translation— intend to elucidate complex topics of the (intercultural definition of their own nation and to influence this definition as a part of the consolidating república de las letras. The translations indicate a controversial cultural change of course which is connected with the problematic nature of translation: Feijoo (and his adaptations from French with regard of the European Enlightenment and its critical reception in Spain, Gracián (and his Italian translation with regard to a poetic reorientation towards a kind of neoclassicism also influenced by Italy. The same applies to the translators' academy of Alfons the Sage which is reactivated as a model of a translators' academy under state control. The tertulia as a voluntary form of association based on hospitality and sociable communication turns out to be a model of intercultural exchange marked by the Enlightenment. Em 1990 os Presidentes do Brasil e da Argentina, na Ata de Buenos Aires, resolvem institucionalizar o Mercado Comum e em 26 de março de 1991 é celebrado o Tratado de Assunção, entrando em vigor em 29 de novembro do mesmo ano, com o depósito das ratificações necessárias e fazendo parte desta integração a Argentina, o Brasil, o Paraguai e Uruguai. vibrational spectra of clusters and carbon-based nanostructures, just to name a few of the low-dimensional systems addressed in this special issue, can be both accurately computed from first principles and measured experimentally. Even less computationally demanding semi-empirical simulations based on tight-binding or continuum models play a crucial role in assessing, for instance, the interplay between morphology, defects and the elastic properties of low-dimensional systems. The impressive amount of work and progress achieved in the past decade within the general theory and spectroscopy of the dynamics of low-dimensional systems is marked by several relevant trends that are exemplified by the contributions gathered together in this special issue. They span a wide spectrum of experimental and theoretical methods applied to the study of the dynamical properties of low-dimensional systems and new emerging phenomena at the nanoscale, such as the peculiar optical properties of ring shaped quantum dots, plasmon dynamics in metallic nanoclusters and the relaxation dynamics of nanomagnets. This issue is dedicated to our esteemed colleague Giorgio Benedek on the occasion of his 70th birthday. It collects together a number of papers written by authors from all over the world with a recognized reputation in the above mentioned fields where Giorgio Benedek has made important and fundamental contributions.
