  1. Novel DTA method for thermal stability analysis

    A Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) technique to study the kinetics of highly exothermic reactions for estimating thermal stability parameters has been developed. The technique involves measuring and analyzing the heat generated due to the reaction from a differential temperature curve. The technique has been tested by studying the kinetics of the reaction between sodium thiosulfate and hydrogen peroxide whose kinetic parameters are already known and whose thermal stability has been analyzed by a different technique. First the envisiones experiment was simulated on computer, then the DTA experimental equipment was designed on the basis of the computer simulation and finally the actual reaction between Na/sub 2/S/sub 2/O/sub 4/ and H/sub 2/O was performed. The satisfactory results demonstrated the feasibility of the DTA technique for estimating the kinetic parameters.

    Full Text Available Paper deals with investigation of phase transitions temperatures for selected real grades of micro-alloyed steels. Temperatures of characteristic phase transitions were obtained using Setaram SETSYS 18TM. The DTA technique was selected for the study of micro-alloyed steels. Temperatures of phase transitions (liquidus, solidus etc. were obtained. Influence of admixed and alloyed elements on shift of temperatures was investigated. Resulting data were compared with temperatures of phase transitions of Fe-C, Fe-Mn systems and with temperatures calculated according to relations published in available literature. Thermodynamic-kinetic solidifi cation model IDS was used to calculate characteristic equilibrium temperatures of investigated systems.

    Feldspathic glass-ceramics reinforced with leucite has been used to make dental prosthesis. Leucite grains were nucleated and grown from feldspathic glass frit powders with particle size smaller than 45 mum. Crystallization kinetic of leucite in the feldspathic glass matrix was investigated under non-isothermal conditions using differential thermal analysis (DTA). The techniques used on the samples characterization were: X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). From the results of DTA measurements was found the activation energy for the process of crystallization of leucite by Kissinger method, as (333 +- 57) kJ/mol, and the Avrami parameter. The Avrami parameter value indicated the predominance of surface crystallization in the glass.(author)

    A new p-PhDTA bridged Cu(Ⅱ) complex [Cu2(p-PhDTA)(DMSO)2]·4DMSO (pPhDTA = p-phenylenediamine-N,N,N,N'-tetraacetic acid) has been synthesized and structurally characterized.The crystal belongs to orthorhombic, space group Pca21 with a = 19.572(4), b=19.552(4), c = 10.156(2)(A), C26H48N2O14Cu2S6, Mr = 932.10, V = 3886.4(13)(A)3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.593 g/cm3, F(000) = 1936, λ(MoKα) = 0.71073 (A),μ= 1.480, R = 0.0487 and wR = 0.1151 for 8464 observed reflections (I >2σ(I)).In the complex, the oxygen atoms of carboxylate of p-PhDTA connect the Cu atoms in a syn-anti type, giving one-dimensional chains which are further linked by the benzene groups of p-PhDTA to form a novel two-dimensional structure.

    Highlights: • Nanocalorimetry with original cantilever type calorimeters. • The calorimeters showed the enthalpy resolution of 200 nJ level. • Nano-DTA of a binary alloy captured a probabilistic peak after solidification. • Power compensation DSC of a microgram level sample was demonstrated. • The DSC and DTA behavior were explained with a lumped model. - Abstract: Differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the minute samples in the range of microgram to nanogram were studied using original cantilever-type calorimeters. The micro-fabricated calorimeter with a heater and thermal sensors was able to perform a fast temperature scan at above 1000 K/s and a high-resolution heat measurement. The DTA of minuscule metal samples demonstrated some advances such as the thermal analysis of a 20 ng level indium and observation of a strange phase transition of a binary alloy. The power compensation type DSC using a thermal feedback system was also performed. Thermal information of a microgram level sample was observed as splitting into the DSC and DTA signals because of a mismatch between the sample and the calorimeter. Although there remains some room for improvement in terms of the heat flow detection, the behavior of the compensation system in the DSC was theoretically understood through a lumped model. Those experiments also produced some findings, such as a fin effect with sample loading, a measurable weight range, a calibration of the calorimeter and a product design concept. The development of the nano-DTA and nano-DSC will enable breakthroughs for the fast calorimetry of the microscopic size samples.

    Combustion characteristics of coking, semicoking, and noncoking Turkish bituminous coal samples from Zonguldak basin were investigated applying differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential thermogravimetry (DTG) techniques. Results were compared with that of the coke from Zonguldak bituminous coal, a Turkish lignite sample from Soma, and a Siberian bituminous coal sample. The thermal data from both techniques showed some differences depending on the proximate analyses of the samples. Noncombustible components of the volatile matter led to important changes in thermal behavior. The data front both methods were, evaluated jointly, and some thermal properties were interpreted considering these methods in a complementary combination.

    The paper aims to investigate hydration and pozzolanic reaction in Portland cement paste with different replacement percentages (0%, 10%, 20% and 30%) of metakaolin. The compressive strength of the metakaolin admixtured cement was measured at 1 day, 1 week and 4 weeks. The compressive strength developments of the metakaolin admixtured cement are compared with Portland cement. It is found that metakaolin contributes significantly to strength development as an accelerating admixture for Portland cement. The pozzolanic reactions and the reaction products were determined by DTA, XRD and SEM.

    Full Text Available A unique study of structural and chemical analysis of crystalline phases in developed agglomerated fluxes was carried out. Thirty-two fluxes were developed by using a mixture of oxides, halides, carbonates, silicates, and ferroalloys for submerged arc welding. The present paper focuses on only ten (out of thirty-two fluxes which were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD to know the different types of oxides formed and changed in oxidation number of metallic centers after sintering process at around 850∘C. To know the effect of temperature over phase transformation and melting of different compounds, differential thermal analysis (DTA was carried out from 1000 to 1400∘C. This study aims to know the quantity of ions present (percentage and melting behavior of developed agglomerated fluxes for submerged arc welding process.

    Porcelains are vitrified and a fine grained ceramic product, used either glazed or unglazed and is often manufactured from a tri-axial body mix of clays, quartz and alkaline feldspar. Physical properties associated with porcelain include those of permeability, high strength, hardness, glassiness, durability, whiteness, translucence, resonance, brittleness, high resistance to the passage of electricity, high resistance to thermal shock and high elasticity[1,2]. Porcelain insulators are made from three raw materials; clay; feldspar and quartz. For porcelain manufacture the clay is categorized in two groups; ball clay and kaolin, each of which plays an important role, either in the preparation of the product or in the properties of the finished products. The following research highlights the importance that suits these materials for their contributions to the final properties of the product. Keeping this view a TGA-DTA and chemical composition of these raw materials were observed and these materials are found suitable for production of Electrical Porcelain.

    Full Text Available The reactions of chlorides binding to aluminates were investigated by analyzing the monochloroaluminate hydrate, product of the reaction. The results show that the product is formed in the fresh concrete, after adding chloride within the stage of the preparation of concrete, as well as adding chlorides by penetration from the environment into the concrete. The obtained results are significant, considering the aspect of preventing corrosion of the steel reinforcement into the concrete. It is known that only free chlorides activate corrosion processes in the steel reinforcement in concrete. The process of chloride bonding is followed by X-ray diffraction (XRD and differential thermal (DTA analysis of samples of the cement paste, which is the process of preparation and care is described in detail in this work.

    Poly(m-phenylene isophthalamine) (PMIA) and Poly( p-phenylene terphthalamine) (PPTA) are among the most important high-temperature resistant aramid fibers. The pyrolysis behaviors of these two fibers under inert gases were studied using pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) and thermogravimetric analysis coupled with mass spectrometry ( TGA-DTA/MS ). The pyrolysis processes of PMIA and PPTA are distinguishing, and the stepwise pyrolysates reflect these differences. A mechanism system of pyrolysis is suggested, which involving hydrolysis and homolysis. At low pyrolysis temperatures, hydrolysis is a primary reaction, and it is very noticeable in the first-step pyrolysis region of PMIA. Elevating pyrolysis temperature, homolysis is enhanced and keep a large advantage in the high temperature range. On the other hand, at higher temperatures, carbonization appens and the homolysis and carbonization of PPTA are emphasized more than of PMIA.

    To compare the side effect of separately injection of inactivated polio vaccine(IPV), Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine (Hib)and adsorption of acellular DTP vaccine (DTaP)with DTaP-IPV/Hib combined vaccine and explore the more reasonable and effective inoculation approach.Methods: A total of 600 healthy infants in the hospital were randomly divided into two groups according to the principle of voluntary participation.The Group 1 was immunized with IPV,Hib and DTaP seperately,while the Group 2 was injected DTaP-IPV/Hib combined vaccine.Adverse reactions within 48 hours after injection were followed-up of the two groups.Comparative analysis was carried out on the side effects of manifestation, degree and doses of the two groups.Results: There were no significant differences in side effects of manifestation, degree and doses of the two groups (all P>0.05).Conclusion:The combined vaccine DTaP-IPV/Hib is safe and effective.It simplifies the inoculation procedure and is recommended in vaccination.%目的:比较注射单剂吸附无细胞百白破联合疫苗(DTaP)、脊髓灰质炎灭活疫苗(IPV)及B型流感嗜血杆菌疫苗(Hib)与DTaP-IPV/Hib五联疫苗(简称五联疫苗)接种后的副反应,探求合理有效的疫苗接种方式.方法:在我院免疫接种的600例健康婴幼儿,按照监护人自愿原则分为2组,第1组分次注射DTaP、IPV和Hib,第2组注射五联疫苗,接种48h后随访2组婴幼儿副反应情况,并对2组副反应临床表现、强弱、接种针次与副反应的关系进行比较.结果:不同方式预防接种2组婴幼儿副反应临床表现强弱、接种针次与副反应之间均无显著性差异(均P>0.05).结论:五联疫苗的副反应与常规单剂免疫接种相似,它简化了免疫程序,应推荐接种.

  19. Optimization of glass-ceramic crystallization based on DTA exotherm analysis.

    Crystallization of glass-ceramics is traditionally achieved through a two-stage heat treatment consisting of an isothermal nucleation stage followed by an isothermal growth stage. A method for determining a more efficient heat treatment schedule for a glass-ceramic material using a thermal analysis technique is proposed. The goal of an optimized heat treatment schedule is the production of a glass-ceramic with a desired microstructure (number of crystals per volume) in the shortest amount of time. The proposed method involves differential thermal analysis (DTA) to measure glass crystallization exotherm characteristics which are correlated with the population density of growing crystals, and therefore, to the effectiveness of any prior heat treatment. Traditional thermal processing parameters were investigated and optimized. A method for generating a more efficient heat treatment schedule composed of a series of increasing heating rates was also demonstrated. The thermal analysis method measured a significant effect upon the number density of crystals generated as a function of several experimental variables. Micrographs from samples crystallized with a more time-efficient heat treatment schedule were shown to have equivalent crystal number densities compared to those crystallized with a more time consuming, traditional schedule. This work demonstrated that a rapid thermal analysis method was capable of measuring the relative effectiveness of heat treatment schedules to generate crystalline populations. A novel heat treatment schedule was developed based on progressive adjustment of processing heating rates to generate the maximum crystal population in the shortest amount of time.

    Objective To compare single agent adsorption cellfree the DPT combined vaccine (DTaP) environments according, polio inactivated vaccine (IPV) and haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) and DTaP vaccine-IPV/Hib immovable) (hereinafter referred to as immovable vaccine immunization vaccine adverse reactions, to explore a more reasonable immune process. Methods 378 healthy infants and young children in the hospital of vaccination, in accordance with the principle of voluntary guardian divided into 2 groups, group A immovable vaccine, group B DTaP and Hib vaccine and IPV, 48 h after fol ow-up of 2 groups of infants and young children adverse reactions, and the adverse reaction of two groups were analyzed.Results In A group, B injection site redness incidence rates were 16.5%, 10%. Systemic adverse reactions were mainly fever, abnormal crying, lethargy, irritability, loss of appetite, A, B group the incidence of considerable.     Full Text Available Pyrolysis, combustion, and gasification properties of pulverized coal and char in CO2-rich gas flow were investigated by using gravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA with changing O2%, heating temperature gradient, and flow rate of CO2-rich gases provided. Together with TG-DTA, flue gas generated from the heated coal, such as CO, CO2, and hydrocarbons (HCs, was analyzed simultaneously on the heating process. The optimum O2% in CO2-rich gas for combustion and gasification of coal or char was discussed by analyzing flue gas with changing O2 from 0 to 5%. The experimental results indicate that O2% has an especially large effect on carbon oxidation at temperature less than 1100°C, and lower O2 concentration promotes gasification reaction by producing CO gas over 1100°C in temperature. The TG-DTA results with gas analyses have presented basic reference data that show the effects of O2 concentration and heating rate on coal physical and chemical behaviors for the expected technologies on coal gasification in CO2-rich gas and oxygen combustion and underground coal gasification.

    To evaluate an investigational, fully liquid hexavalent diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis-inactivated poliovirus-hepatitis B-Haemophilus influenzae type b (DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T: Hexaxim™) vaccine for primary and booster vaccination of healthy children in Mexico. Infants (N=1189) were randomized to receive one of three lots of the DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine or a licensed hexavalent control vaccine (Infanrix™ hexa) for primary vaccination at 2, 4 and 6 months. All participants who completed the primary series and agreed to participate in the booster part of the study received a dose of the investigational vaccine at 15-18 months of age. Validated serological assays and parental reports were used to assess immunogenicity and safety, respectively. Post-primary vaccination, ≥95.8% of participants in both the DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T and control groups were seroprotected (SP) against diphtheria, tetanus, poliovirus, hepatitis B and PRP, or had seroconverted (SC) to the pertussis toxin (PT) and filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) pertussis antigens. The SP/SC rates induced by the three DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T lots were equivalent. No differences in SP/SC rates were observed between the pooled lots of investigational vaccine and the control vaccine. Antibody persistence at 15-18 months was comparable between groups, with strong increases in all antibody concentrations post-DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T booster. Both vaccines were well tolerated for primary vaccination, as was the booster dose of DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T. These study findings confirm the suitability of the combined, fully liquid DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine for inclusion in routine childhood vaccination schedules. Copyright © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.     To assess a new, fully-liquid, hexavalent DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine (diphtheria toxoid (D), tetanus toxoid (T), acellular pertussis (aP), inactivated poliovirus (IPV), hepatitis B (Hep B), and Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide conjugated to tetanus protein (PRP-T) antigens) compared to a licensed DTaP-IPV-Hep B//PRP-T vaccine following primary series co-administration with a 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7). This was a randomized, phase III, observer-blind study in Thai infants (N=412), who received DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T or DTaP-IPV-Hep B//PRP-T at 2, 4, and 6 months of age, co-administered with PCV7. All received Hep B at birth. Non-inferiority for Hep B ≥ 10 mIU/ml and PRP ≥0.15μg/ml was analyzed (DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T relative to DTaP-IPV-Hep B//PRP-T) at 1 month post-primary. Seroprotection/seroconversion and geometric mean titers (GMTs) were analyzed descriptively for all hexavalent components. Safety was evaluated from parental reports. Anti-Hep B and anti-PRP antibody seroprotection rates were high for DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T (n=189) and DTaP-IPV-Hep B//PRP-T (n=190), and non-inferiority was demonstrated. Anti-D and anti-T ≥ 0.01 IU/ml, anti-polio types 1, 2, and 3 ≥ 8 (1/dil), and anti-PT and anti-FHA seroconversion were high and similar in each group. For DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T and DTaP-IPV-Hep B//PRP-T, anti-Hep B ≥ 100 mIU/ml was 98.4% and 99.5% (GMTs 2477 and 2442 mIU/ml), respectively; anti-PRP ≥ 1.0 μg/ml was 85.2% and 71.1% (GMTs 5.07 and 2.41 μg/ml), respectively. Safety profiles were comparable. There were no vaccine-related serious adverse events. Following co-administration with PCV7 the investigational DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine was safe and immunogenic.     Safe and effective combination pediatric vaccines are necessary to simplify complex immunization schedules and to improve coverage and protection for children worldwide. We provide an overview of the 18 years of clinical and worldwide experience with DTaP-IPV-Hib (Pediacel(®)), a unique fully liquid pentavalent vaccine (diphtheria [D], tetanus [T], acellular pertussis, inactivated poliovirus [IPV], Haemophilus influenzae type b [Hib]). Pediacel has demonstrated good and lasting immunogenicity in many populations, with differing primary series and booster schedules, and with a variety of coadministered vaccines. The acellular pertussis antigens have proven efficacy and real-world effectiveness. Clinical and post-marketing studies confirm the safety of Pediacel. Pediacel can be used for primary series and toddler booster doses, as well as in mixed pediatric vaccine schedules.

    This paper deals with amorphous structures in the laser cladding. ZL111 alloy is the substrate and Ni-Cr-Al alloy is sprayed on the substrate as the coating material. The coating is clad by a 5 kW transverse flow CO2 laser. The observation of SEM and TEM reveal that in the laser cladding there are amorphous structures of two different morphologies: one is space curved flake-like, and exists in the white web-like structures; the other is fir leaf-like, and exists in the grain-like structures. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) is used to semi-quantitatively determine the content of the amorphous structures. A relation is obtained between the content of amorphous structures and the dimensionless laser cladding parameter C. We also show the changes of the amorphous structures after annealing.

    Full Text Available The four chelate polymer complexes commonly called as coordination polymers of Mn(II, Co(II, Ni(II and Cu(II ions with fbpmpc (fbpmpc = fumaroyl bis (paramethoxyphenylcarbamide were synthesized and characterised by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance, magnetic moment susceptibility, thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, electrical conductivity and scanning electron microscopy technique (SEM. SEM investigations of coordination polymers were found in different shapes and sizes, though they are synthesized from a single ligand. Each metal ion is coordinated by a bis (bidentate manner through oxygen atom of the carboxylato group and the nitrogen atom of an amide group of ligand and two aqua ligands by coordinated bond which formed 6-member heterocyclic ring. In the present article, the main aim of research study is to find out the comparative studies of coordination polymers such as thermogravimetry (TG, derivative thermogravimetry (DTG, differential thermal analysis (DTA, electrical conductivity and morphology behaviour. Furthermore, the electrical conductivities of chelating ligand and coordination polymers were determined in the solid state powder form. The electrical conductivities measurements of undoped and doped ligand, coordination polymers were carried out at room temperature by the four probe technique using an electrometer. Thermal degradation studies of the coordination polymers have been carried out from a non-isothermal condition under nitrogen atmosphere at a heating rate of 10 °C min−1. The decomposition steps and thermal stabilities of these complexes were confirmed by thermal analysis techniques (TG/DTG/DTA. The thermal studies inferred the presence of crystallized water in all coordination polymers, whereas coordinated water was found in Ni(II and Cu(II ions.

    Polymer electrolytes containing ionic liquid (IL), 2-methyl-1,3-dipropylimidazolium dihydrogenphosphate (MDPImH2PO4) have been studied by (1)H solid state NMR and differential thermal analysis (DTA) simultaneously by using a specially designed probe. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of its kind for IL based polymer electrolytes. The variation of NMR line width with temperature for the IL and polymer electrolytes shows line narrowing at the glass transition and melting temperature. The onset of long-range ion diffusional motion also takes place at these temperatures and is accompanied by a sudden increase in ionic conductivity value by 2-3 orders of magnitude. The presence of amorphous and crystalline phases in IL-based polymer electrolytes has been observed from X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies, and the amorphous phase is the high conducting phase in these polymer electrolytes. The IL-based polymer electrolytes have been observed to be thermally stable up to 200 °C. The results obtained from ion transport studies have also been supported by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), XRD, and cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies.

    Full Text Available Recommendation of Land Use Allocation to Control Soil Erosion in Wuryantoro Sub-Watershed DTA Gajah Mungkur Reservoir, Wonogiri, Central Java The research aims to recommend optimum land use allocation that can control soil surface erosion in Wuryantoro sub-watershed. The research was done using land evaluation aproach to land unit and analyzed based on area function allocation, land capability classification, and erosion hazard rate. Optimization analysis on land use allocation was done statistically through linear program symplex method using QSB software. The results showed that actual land use caused actual soil surface erosion (A of Wuryantoro subwatershed was higher that tolerable erosion (T treshold. Optimization analysis recommends that to control actual soil surface erosion (A to be lower that tolerable erosion (T treshold, its is needed to convert all actual land uses of groves and croplands to forest. Actual land uses of production forests, community forests, irrigated farmlands, rainfeed farmlands, and residential could still be kept remain as they were.

    大田栽培条件下,以马铃薯(Solanum tuberosum L.)荷兰212为材料,叶面喷施不同植物生长调节剂,测定叶片中蔗糖、蔗糖转化酶活性、淀粉、淀粉酶活性变化以及可溶性糖、还原糖等含量的变化,研究喷施植物生长调节剂对马铃薯叶片碳代谢生理指标的影响.结果表明:喷施SOD模拟物(简称SODM)后16天叶片中可溶性糖、蔗糖以及淀粉的含量显著提高,24天和32天后还原糖含量明显增加;氯化胆碱(Choline chloride,简称Cc)能够极显著降低处理后32天时叶片的转化酶活性,也可以显著提高处理后24天和32天时还原糖的含量;2-N,N-二乙氨基乙基己酸酯(Diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate,简称DTA-6)能够极显著提高使用后16天时淀粉的含量,同时其对处理后24~32天淀粉酶活性有极显著降低的作用.

    The shape of proton rapidity distributions is analysed in terms of their Gaussian components, and the average rapidity loss is determined in order to estimate the amount of stopping in C+C, d+C, C+Ta and d+Ta collisions at 4.2A GeV/c. Three Gaussians correspond to the nuclear transparency and describe well all peripheral and also C+C central collisions. Two-component shape is obtained in case of d+C and C+Ta central collisions. Finally one Gaussian, found in d+Ta central collisions, corresponds to the full stopping. The calculated values of the average rapidity loss support the qualitative relationship between the number of Gaussian components and the corresponding stopping power. It is also observed, in central collisions, that the average rapidity loss increases with the ratio of the number of target and the number of projectile participants.

    Hexaxim(®) (DTaP-IPV-Hep B-Hib) is a new, thiomersal-free, fully liquid, hexavalent combination pediatric vaccine containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliovirus, recombinant hepatitis B virus surface antigen produced in the yeast Hansenula polymorpha, and Haemophilus influenzae type b polysaccharide (polyribosylribitol phosphate) conjugated to tetanus toxoid. It is currently registered in markets outside of the EU for primary vaccination of infants from 6 weeks of age and for booster vaccination up to 24 months of age. In randomized controlled trials, primary vaccination of infants with Hexaxim(®) using various immunization schedules was highly immunogenic for all vaccine component antigens regardless of the administration schedule, producing high levels of seroprotection or seroconversion for each antigen. Hexaxim(®) was as immunogenic as the comparator DTwP- or DTaP-based vaccines in these studies. The serological responses were generally sustained at high levels over a follow-up of ≈1 year, and booster vaccination at 15-18 months further enhanced the immune response. Hexaxim(®) was less reactogenic than a DTwP-based combination vaccine, and displayed a tolerability profile similar to those of the comparator DTaP-based combination vaccines. Thus, Hexaxim(®) provides effective seroprotection or seroconversion against six major childhood diseases simultaneously, both as primary and booster vaccination, and offers the benefits and convenience of a fully liquid, ready-to-use vaccine.

    Booster vaccination of infants aims to further reduce the burden of childhood infectious diseases. This study assessed the antibody persistence induced by a primary series vaccination at 2, 4, 6 months of age and a first booster at 18-19 months of age with a pentavalent diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, inactivated poliovirus, Haemophilus influenzae type b combined vaccine (DTaP-IPV//PRP-T) in 4-6 year-old Thai children (N=123). The safety and immunogenicity of a tetravalent acellular pertussis combined vaccine (containing the same DTaP-IPV antigens as the previous vaccine) given as a second booster at 4 to 6 years of age was also evaluated. Seroprotective antibody levels against diphtheria (> or = 0.01 IU/ml), tetanus (> or = 0.10 IU/ml), and polioviruses (> or = 8 1/dil) were maintained 4-6 years after primary-vaccination and first booster by > or = 92.7% of children, and anti-pertussis antibodies > or = 5 EU/ml were observed in the majority of children. The second booster with DTaP-IPV elicited a strong response for all antigens. GMT or GMC ratios for all antigens at the pre- and post-booster samples were from 4.7 to 52.5. Primary vaccination at 2, 4, 6 and a booster at 18-19 months of age with the DTaP-IPV//PRP-T vaccine induced satisfactory antibody persistence at 4-6 years of age. A second booster with DTaP-IPV induced a strong immune response and was well tolerated.

  17. FTIR, DTA and XRD study of sphene (CaTiSiO5)crystallization in a ceramic frit and a non-borate base glass

    The primary objective of this study has been the application of Fourier transform infrared (FTi.r.) absorption spectroscopy for both qualitative and quantitative characterization of sphene CaTiSiO5 crystallization in test materials; namely, a CaO-TiO2-B2O3 bearing ceramic frit-S and a similar non-borate base glass-S. Differential thermal analysis (DTA), x ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope/electron probe x ray microanalysis (SEM/EPMA) techniques have also been used. FTi.r. absorption spectra have been shown to be capable of providing both qualitative and quantitative characterizations of crystal nucleation and growth in a frit-S and glass-S, being annealed between 800-1100 C. CaTiSiO5 appears as the dominant phase and alpha-cristobalite as the transitional phase in frit-S; whereas, beta-CaSiO3 is dominant, CaTiSiO5 being a minor phase in the non-borate glass-S. As given by DTA data, the intense stage of crystal growth for frit-S is about 120-125 C lower than that of glass-S. B2O3 content and the relative amounts of CaO and TiO2 in the test specimens have been shown to give different modes of phase evolution and the onset temperature of nucleation. The activation energies, E(sub c), of crystal nucleation/growth was estimated by two different methods, namely, via DTA data and FTi.r. absorption spectra under the dominant surface nucleation mode for powder pellet specimens. E(sub c) for CaTiSiO5, beta-CaSiO3 and alpha-cristobalite in the frit-S and the non-borate base glass-S were estimated to be 219.6, 107.2 and 51.5 kJ/mol respectively, parallel to the decreasing order of chemical complexity of the glass-forming system. Similar quantitative FTi.r. studies in the determination of E(sub c) for a broader scope of glass compositions, and compared with that based on XRD and DTA data, are to be encouraged so that the application of FTi.r. spectroscopy in glass-ceramics may be advanced.

    目的 探讨吸附无细胞百白破-Sabin株脊髓灰质炎联合疫苗(DTaP-sIPV)的制备工艺,并比较不同配比的DTaP-sIPV中Sabin株脊髓灰质炎灭活疫苗(SabinIPV)三针基础免疫大鼠的中和抗体效价,为确定联合疫苗的最佳制备工艺及抗原剂量配比提供参考.方法 用不同配比的SabinIPV,制备两批DTaP-sIPV,进行各项指标的检定及稳定性试验,并联合单独的Sabin IPV和GSK制备的DTaP-wIPV对56只Wistar大鼠进行3针免疫,每针间隔1个月,每次免疫后30 d采血并分离血清,采用微量中和试验测定血清中抗脊髓灰质炎病毒3个型别的中和抗体效价.结果 两批DTaPsIPV的各项检定指标均符合三部(2005版)要求,且稳定性良好.大鼠经3针基础免疫后,其Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ型脊髓灰质炎病毒中和抗体的几何平均滴度均显著上升,3针免疫后抗体阳转率已经达到100%.结论 经此制备的DTaP-sIPV安全、稳定、有效,且DTaP-sIPV中的SabinIPV在大鼠中有良好的免疫效果,经3针免疫可产生高水平的中和抗体.%Objective In order to search the preparation process and optimazing dosage ratio of adsorbed diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis and sabin inactivated poliovirus combined vaccine ( DTaPsIPV) , the neutralizing antibody titers of IPV induced by different concentration of DTaP-sIPV were investigated on rats.   19. Detection of Soluble and Fixed NH4+ in Clay Minerals by DTA and IR Reflectance Spectroscopy : A Potential Tool for Planetary Surface Exploration

    Nitrogen is an essential element for life. It is the only element among the six major biogenic elements, C, O, S, O, P, H, whose presence in the Martian soil has not been positively and directly established. We describe here a study assessing the ability to detect NH4 in soils by two methods: differential thermal analysis (DTA) and infrared (IR) reflectance spectroscopy. Four standard clay minerals (kaolinite, montmorillonite, illite and attapulgite) and an altered tephra sample from Mauna Kea were treated with NH4 in this study. Samples of the NH4-treated and leached clays were analyzed by DTA and infrared (IR) reflectance spectroscopy to quantify the delectability of soluble and sorbed/fixed NH4. An exotherm at 270-280 C was clearly detected in the DTA curves of NH4-treated (non-leached) samples. This feature is assigned to the thermal decomposition reaction of NH4. Spectral bands observed at 1.56, 2.05, 2.12, 3.06, 3.3, 3.5, 5.7 and 7.0 microns in the reflectance spectra of NH4-treated and leached samples are assigned to the sorbed/fixed ammonium in the clays. The montmorillonite has shown the most intense absorbance due to fixed ammonium among the leached samples in this study, as a result of its high cation sorption capacity. It is concluded that the presence of sorbed or fixed NH4 in clays may be detected by infrared (IR) reflectance or emission spectroscopy. Distinction between soluble and sorbed NH4 may be achieved through the presence or absence of several spectral features assigned to the sorbed NH4 moietyi and, specifically, by use of the 4.2 micrometer feature assigned to solution NH4. Thermal analyses furnish supporting evidence of ammonia in our study through detection of N released at temperatures of 270-330 C. Based on these results it is estimated that IR spectra measured from a rover should be able to detect ammonia if present above 20 mg NH4/g sample in the surface layers. Clay minerals are the main material for the production of ceramic and pottery and show some characteristic reactions such as dehydration, dehydroxylation and transformation. This is key point of criteria for the elucidation of firing temperature and raw material analysis. In the present work, DTA-TG, XRD and EDXRF technique are applied on representative potsherds from Vellore dist., Tamilnadu, India to derive the information about the production technology, raw materials and firing temperature. From the analysis, all the samples were considered to be fired from 800 °C to 900 °C and organic material might be added intestinally as a binder in the preparation of pottery.

  1. Effects of DTA-6,SODM and Cc on growth and assimilite metabolism in underground stems of potato%DTA-6、SODM及Cc对马铃薯地下主茎生长及同化物代谢生理的影响

    Using the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)cultivar‘Helan-212’as test material,three treatments of plant growth substances,including diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate (DTA-6),choline chloride (Cc)and SOD simulation material (SODM),were employed for foliar spray,and the fresh weight and dry weight of underground stems,the con-tents of sucrose,starch and soluble sugar,and the activities of invertase and amylase were measured,so as to compare the differences of growth of underground stems and physiological parameters of carbon metabolism in potato under different treatments .The results showed that,compared with CK,the content of sucrose was significantly increased by the treat-ments of Cc and SODM from the 16th day after spraying,with a rate of 36 .68%and 30 .36%,respectively .What’s more,the activity of amylase was also significantly increased by the treatment of Cc at the 40th and 48th day after spray-ing,with a rate of 35 .1 1%on average .The activity of invertase was increased by the treatment of Cc and DTA-6 from the 32nd day after spraying,but the analysis of variance showed that the difference was not significant .Furthermore,the treatment of SODM could reduce the starch content significantly,while the treatment of Cc could increase the content of soluble sugar significantly at tuber expansion period .%大田栽培条件下,以马铃薯荷兰212为材料,叶面喷施植物生长物质2-N,N-二乙氨基乙基己酸酯(Diethyl aminoethyl hexanoate,简称DTA-6)、氯化胆碱(Choline chloride,简称Cc)以及SOD模拟物(简称SODM),测定地下主茎鲜重、干重、蔗糖、蔗糖转化酶活性、淀粉、淀粉酶活性变化以及可溶性糖等含量的变化,研究不同植物生长物质对马铃薯地下主茎生长及碳代谢生理指标的影响。结果表明:从喷药后16 d开始,Cc和SODM处理均能大幅提高地下主茎蔗糖的含量,其中Cc处理平均比CK增加36.68%,SODM处理较CK高出30.36

    Adsorption of Cu(II) by raw bentonite (RB) and acid-activated bentonite (AAB) samples was investigated as a function of the initial Cu(II) concentration, solution pH, ionic strenght, temperature, the competitive and complexation effects of ligands (Cl{sup -}, SO{sub 4}{sup 2-}, PO{sub 4}{sup 3-}). Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity of the RB (42.41 mg g{sup -1}) was found greater than that of the AAB (32.17 mg g{sup -1}). The effect of structural charges on the reactivity of the edge groups was evidenced by the particular proton adsorption behaviour of the bentonite samples. The spontaneity of the adsorption process is established by decrease in {delta}G which varied from -0.34 to -0.71 kJ mol{sup -1} (RB), -1.13 to -1.49 kJ mol{sup -1} (AAB) in temperature range 303-313 K. Infrared (IR) spectra of the bentonite samples showed that the positions and shapes of the fundamental vibrations of the OH and Si-O groups were influenced by the adsorbed Cu(II) cations. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) results showed that adsorbed Cu(II) cations have a great effect on the thermal behaviour of the bentonite samples. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra indicated that the Cu(II) adsorption onto the bentonite samples led to changes in unit cell dimensions and symmetry of the parent bentonites.

    To determine the proficiency of the Austrian childhood vaccination schedule to induce long lasting seroprotection against vaccine preventable diseases a seroepidemiological study in 348 children between four and eight years of age was conducted. Antibodies against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, measles, mumps and rubella antigens were assessed in children, who had been vaccinated with hexavalent DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib vaccines at three, four, five months and in the second year of life and/or MMR vaccines in the second year of life at least once, but mostly twice. High seroprotection rates (SPRs) were detected for tetanus (96%) and measles (90%). SPRs regarding diphtheria and mumps were 81% and 72%, respectively. Rubella-SPRs were 68% in females and 58% in males. Hepatitis B-antibody levels ≥10 mIU/mL were present in 52%; antibodies against pertussis were detected in 27% of the children. SPRs for measles and rubella depended on the interval since last vaccination; mumps-antibodies were significantly lower after one MMR-vaccination only. Antibodies against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis depended on the interval since last vaccination while HBs-antibodies did not. The low levels of antibodies 1-7 years after vaccination against pertussis, rubella and mumps after only one vaccination should be considered when recommending new vaccination schedules.

    Full Text Available The Brazilian F-5 was submitted to avionics and weapons upgrade. This “new” aircraft has proven to be heavier and more capable. A comprehensive damage tolerance analysis is being performed to evaluate how the new mission profiles and weight distribution may affect the airframe structural integrity. Operational data were collected at the Brazilian Air Force Bases where the fighter is flown. Software was developed in order to acquire, filter and analyze flight data. This data was used for comparison between the pre and post modernization mission profiles and to determine the stress level in each of the known aircraft fatigue critical locations (FCL. The results show that the change in aircraft weight and balance and the new operational profile can significantly change the inspection intervals of certain fatigue critical locations of the structure. A preliminary result for the horizontal tail has shown that this component will have a much more restrictive maintenance schedule to assure flight safety.

    Vibrational spectral analysis of Diphenyl Carbonate (DPC) is carried out by using FT-IR and FT-Raman spectroscopic techniques. It is found that all vibrational modes are in the expected region. Gaussian computational calculations were performed using B3LYP method with 6-311++G (d, p) basis set. The computed geometric parameters are in good agreement with XRD data. The observation shows that the structure of the carbonate group is unsymmetrical by ∼5° due to the attachment of the two phenyl rings. The stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interaction and charge delocalization are analyzed by Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) study and the results show the lone pair transition has higher stabilization energy compared to all other. The 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts are calculated using the Gauge-Including Atomic Orbital (GIAO) method with B3LYP/6-311++G (d, p) method. The chemical shifts computed theoretically go very closer to the experimental results. A study on the electronic and optical properties; absorption wavelengths, excitation energy, dipole moment and frontier molecular orbital energies and Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) exhibit the high reactivity nature of the molecule. The non-linear optical property of the DPC molecule predicted theoretically found to be good candidate for NLO material. TG/DTA analysis was made and decomposition of the molecule with respect to the temperature was studied. DPC having the anthelmintic activity is docked in the Hemoglobin of Fasciola hepatica protein. The DPC has been screened to antimicrobial activity and found to exhibit antibacterial effects.

Objetive: to make a descriptive analysis of the performance in language skills in 23 Alzheimer disease subjects. Methods: subjects were included if: meet Alzheimer disease criteria; right handed; a minimal of five years of formal school and were able to complete the language tests. We dichotomize the group in mild and moderate according to global deterioration scale (GDS and clinical dementia rating (CDR classification. The performance in the subtests of language of the Minimal Mental State Examination (MMSE, denomination, semantic and phonological fluency was compared between groups. The linguistic deterioration was analyzed in both steps of DTA. Results: in the mild stadium, light deficits are demonstrated in all the tests. Nevertheless dominium with poorer performance were phonological and semantic fluency. In moderate state differences in performance were observed. Tasks on denomination, and semantic and phonological fluency had the poorer performance. Conclusion: language is a compromised neuropsychological dominium in Alzheimer disease. Our results reflect a progressive deterioration of linguistic skills, noted in a wide range of frequency between the mild and the moderated level of dementia and suggests a similar profile of deterioration in mild and moderate levels but with different patterns in specific tasks.

El objetivo del trabajo que se in-forma fue analizar los procesos de categoriza-ción semántica en adultos mayores sanos com- parándolos con dos grupos de personas con pa-tologías neurológicas: uno con diagnóstico dedeterioro cognitivo leve (DCL y otro con de-mencia tipo Alzheimer (DTA, emparejados poredad, nivel educativo y género. Para ello, se uti-lizaron tareas tradicionales para evaluar la me-moria semántica y también un método novedoso,el DISTSEM, que permite evaluar las estimacio-nes que realizan las personas de las distanciassemánticas entre los conceptos.     Objective To evaluate the safety of the absorbed diphtheria,tetanus and acellular pertusis combined vaccine(DTaP),and provide the evidence for decision-making on National Immunization Program (NIP).Methods There were 3235 aged 3-5 months healthy children and 3198 aged 18-24 months healthy children in four counties in Zhejiang Province selected to immunize the DTaP according to the schedule of NIP.Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) for each vaccinated child was observed.Results The incidence rates of AEFI for three primary doses and one boost dose were 6.28%,6.39%,6.26% and 14.57%,respectively.There was no statistical difference among the rates of 3 primary doses vaccinated children,and the rate of one boost dose vaccinated children was significant higher than the average rate(6.31% ) of basic vaccinated children ( x2 =1049,P < 0.01 ).Most of the AEFI happened in 30 minutes after vaccinated.The main clinical character were fever,tetter and pain.Most of the AEFI were mild.There were not any rare,sever AEFI or new AEFI detected.Conclusions The reported AEFIs for DTaP were mild in this study.DTaP have a good immunization safety.%目的 研究吸附无细胞百白破联合疫苗在人群中应用的安全性,为评价纳入国家免疫规划疫苗安全性提供依据.方法 在浙江省4个县(市、区)选择3~5月龄的初免儿童3235人,18~24月龄加强免疫儿童3198名,按照免疫程序接种本次研究观察的无细胞百白破疫苗,进行接种后安全性观察.结果 初免儿童3剂次基础免疫总不良反应发生率分别为6.28%、6.39%、6.26%,差异无统计学意义(x2=0.05,P> 0.05).基础免疫平均不良反应发生率为6.31%,与加强免疫的总体不良反应发生率14.57%比较差异有统计学意义( x2=1049,P<0.01).大部分不良反应发生在接种后30 min内.全身不良反应以发热和皮疹为主,局部反应以注射处触痛为主.各剂次不良反应发生程度均以轻度和

    The air-cooling system (fan)was fabricated with simple assemblies to improve the commercial DTA apparatus for experimental teaching.It was proved that the cooling rate of the DTA furnace could be increased greatly by using this fan.Under ordinary experiment conditions,the heated furnace could be cooled down to the temperature below 40 ℃ within 1 5 min.By reducing the useless waiting time,it is possible to conduct the comprehensive DTA experiments in the basic physical chemistry experiment curriculum.By using the improved DTA apparatus,the solid-liquid phase diagram of KNO3-NaNO3 binary fused salt system was measured.Both the transition between solid crystal phases and the transition from solid to liquid can be observed in this system,and the transition temperatures vary with the sample compositions.This is quite different from that for simple eutectic binary systems.The experiment can be finished in the reasonable laboratory time,and the results in experimental teaching are better.%介绍了用简单材料制作风冷系统,并将其用于改造实验教学用的差热分析仪。测试表明,采用风冷系统后可以大大提高差热分析仪电炉的降温速率,在常规实验条件下,一般15 min 内可以将加热后的炉体温度降低到40℃以下,显著减少了实验中的无效等待时间,为在基础物理化学实验课程中开展综合性的差热分析实验项目创造了条件。用改造后的差热分析仪测定了 KNO3-NaNO3二元熔盐体系的液固平衡相图,该熔盐组份在加热过程中经历固态晶相转变和固-液相转化,且转变温度随熔盐组成连续变化,与传统的简单二元体系相图有很大差别。采用改造后的差热分析仪可以在常规实验课时内较完整地测得该复杂体系相图,实验教学效果良好。

  10. Determination of metallic aluminum in refining slag modifier by CyDTA titration%CyDTA滴定法测定精炼调渣剂中金属铝

    提出了用三氯化铁溶解试样、强碱分离CyDTA滴定法测定金属铝的分析方法.试样用三氯化铁溶液溶解,在pH 1~2的溶液中,将金属铝和三氧化二铝分离,金属铝以离子的形式转入溶液中,加入氢氧化钠,金属铝溶于氢氧化钠溶液中,而使铁、锰等干扰元素沉淀,在pH 5~6的溶液中,用CyDTA络合铝,在室温条件下,以二甲酚橙作指示剂,用硝酸铅回滴过量的CyDTA.研究了样品粒度、三氯化铁的浓度及用量、搅拌时间、络合剂、指示剂对测定的影响,确定了三氯化铁溶液浓度和用量为80 g/L和50 mL、搅拌时间为60 min的最佳实验条件.将该法用于测定精炼调渣剂中金属铝,相对标准偏差小于3%,测得结果与EDTA滴定法结果基本一致.%A determination method of metallic aluminum by CyDTA titration was proposed after sample dissolution by ferric trichloride and separation by strong alkali. The sample was dissolved with ferric trichloride solution. Then, the metallic aluminum was separated from aluminum oxide in the solution at pH 1-2. The metallic aluminum was transferred into solution in the form of ions. After adding sodium hydroxide solution, metallic aluminum was dissolved, while the interference elements such as iron and manganese were precipitated. Aluminum was complexed with CyDTA in the solution at pH 5-6. At room temperature, the excessive CyDTA was back titrated with lead nitrate using xylenol orange as indicator. The effect of sample size, concentration and dosage of ferric trichloride, stirring time, complex agent and indicator on determination was investigated. The optimal experimental conditions were as follows: the concentration and dosage of ferric trichloride were 80 g/L and 50 mL, and the"stirring time was 60 min.     Open Meta-Analysis软件是用于二分类数据、连续型数据以及诊断数据Meta分析的开放软件,该软件提供了四种模型来执行诊断准确性试验的Meta分析,即诊断随机效应模型、倒方差混合效应模型、双变量模型和分层综合受试者工作特征曲线法,其中前两者为单变量模型,只能执行单个指标合并,而后两者为双变量模型,能够对灵敏度和特异度之间的负相关性进行综合分析。本文以实例就Open Meta-Analysis软件实现诊断准确性试验Meta分析做相关简述。%Open Meta-analysis software is the open-source software for performing Meta-analyses of binary, continuous or diagnostic data. Open Meta-analysis software provides 4 methods to the Meta-analysis of DTA including diagnostic random-effect model, mixed-effect inverse variance model, bivariate model and hierarchical standard receiver operating curve (HSROC). The former two that are the univariate models, can only pool single indexes, while the latter two as the bivariate models, can execute comprehensive analysis of negative correlation between sensitivity and specificity. The realization of Meta-analysis of DTA by applying open Meta-analysis software is introduced in this article with an example.

  12. Safety and immunogenicity of an investigational fully liquid hexavalent DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine at two, four and six months of age compared with licensed vaccines in Latin America.

    This trial assessed the safety of a fully liquid investigational hexavalent DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine containing 10 μg Hansenula polymorpha-derived recombinant hepatitis B (hep B) antigen for primary vaccination of infants at 2, 4 and 6 months of age compared with licensed comparators. Participants received the DTaP-IPV-Hep B-PRP-T vaccine (group 1, N = 1422) or licensed DTwP-Hep B//Hib (Tritanrix-Hep B/Hib) and oral poliovirus vaccines (group 2, N = 711). The incidence of severe fever (≥ 39.6°C rectal equivalent) in the 2 groups was compared statistically; reactogenicity was evaluated from parental reports. Anti-Hep B antibody titers were measured in a subset of participants (no hepatitis B vaccination at birth) 1 month after dose 3. The investigational vaccine was well tolerated. After any dose, fever (rectal equivalent temperature ≥ 38°C) was observed in 74.8% and 92.7% of participants in groups 1 and 2; severe fever was observed in 4.0% and 5.5% of participants. Solicited injection site and systemic reactions were numerically less frequent in group 1 than group 2, although this difference was not assessed statistically. In both groups, all participants included in the immunogenicity analysis achieved anti-Hep B ≥ 10 mIU/mL and ≥ 96.2% of participants achieved anti-Hep B ≥ 100 mIU/mL, although geometric mean titer was approximately 3-fold lower for the investigational vaccine. This new, fully liquid acellular pertussis hexavalent vaccine demonstrated less reactogenicity than the licensed comparator whole cell pertussis vaccine and was highly immunogenic for the new Hep B valence.

    Full Text Available In this work was investigated the thermal behavior of iron salts (chloride and ferric nitrate using the technique of simultaneous thermal analysis (TG-DTA. Thermal decomposition of the salts involves complex mechanisms such as dehydration, hydrolysis, evaporation, phase transitions that are possible to be accompanied by thermal analysis. Understanding the mechanisms involved and their temperatures are important to distinguish the structures of inorganic salts widely used as precursors of oxides and coordination compounds. Thermogravimetric curves indicate different thermal behavior, involving loss of initial mass (H2O, endothermic process for both. Differences in thermal behavior are observed in relation to ligands chloride and nitrate, as they do not coordinate with the same type of interaction with the central atom (ion Fe3+ to form the crystalline structure. Thus implying, in characteristic temperatures of decomposition, the output of chloride (207 oC and nitrate (149 oC, with respective process deshidroxilação at 437 oC and 166 oC. Analyzing images of scanning electron microscopy with chemical analysis of residues of TG, we found that the final product has the same morphology and composition, estimating as possible formation of Fe2O3 in the form of hematite, due to not show magnetic property.

    合成了初始摩尔比为Ba/(Ce+Zu)=1.0和1.1的钙钛矿型氧化物BaCe1-xEuxO3-δ(x=0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20).XRD分析表明,过量Ba的样品Ba/(Ce+Eu)=1.1已成钙钛矿单相,样品Ba/(Ce+Eu)=1.0有微量CeO2相存在.Raman谱分析表明,微量CeO2相的产生是由于高温烧结时引起一定量BaO的蒸发引起的;样品Ba/(Ce+Eu)=1.1中过量的Ba对高温烧结时BaO的蒸发起到了补偿作用.热重(TGA)和差热分析(DTA)显示,样品长期放置在空气中,会与空气中的CO2发生一定的反应.

Elemental analyses, mass spectrometry, IR, UV–vis spectroscopy, conductance study and magnetic susceptibilities were used to characterize the complexes. The thermograms obtained in the range of 30–1000 °C were used for kinetic and thermodynamic calculations. The activation energies and order of pyrolysis were calculated using Horowitz–Metzger method. The calculated activation energies were subsequently used for the calculations of thermodynamic parameters including ΔS*, ΔH* and ΔG*. It was found that the thermal stability and activation energy follow the order Cu(II) > Ni(II) > Co(II) > Zn(II) and E{sub Ni}{sup *}>E{sub Cu}{sup *}>E{sub Co}{sup *}>E{sub Zn}{sup *}, respectively. All the compounds were also studied for their urease and α-chymotrypsin inhibition, showing medium to moderate activities for both the enzymes except nickel complex. Nickel complex shows IC{sub 50} = 9.9 ± 0.124 μM ± SEM, and the activity was rationalized by carrying out molecular modeling studies.

  16. Study on the Epidemiological Characteristics of 189 DTaP Vaccine AEFI Cases%189例接种无细胞百白破疫苗发生疑似预防接种异常反应病例流行病学分析

    Objective:To understand the epidemiological characteristics of DTaP vaccine AEFI cases in order to give a reference to improve vaccine quality and vaccination service. Method:One hundred and eight-nine DTaP vaccine AEFI cases were surveyed and the descriptive epidemiological method was used. Result:All AEFIs were vaccine reaction following immunization,among which common vaccine reaction took up 98.4%. Of all cases the urban-to-rural ratio was 1.8:1 and the male-to-female ratio was 1.3:1. Median age was one year and seven months. 42.3%of all AEFI happened on the vaccination day and 45.5%appeared the next day. 66.1%of cases got clinical symptoms of local swelling and 49.7%got fever and 41.3%got local induration. The incidence of local swelling was higher than local induration. The incidence of cases among one-year-old and two-year-old age group was higher than<1 year old age group. 95.5%of cases got better or cured. June and July were high-occurrence months. The proportion was higher among cases with fourth dose of vaccination. Conclusion:The safety of DTaP is good. The quality of vaccination should be improved to lower the incidence of DTaP AEFI cases.     Full Text Available Alumina based ceramics have important engineering applications due to their good physicochemical properties but their performance may be enhanced by addition of a second phase. Aluminosilicates as andalusite submitted to aluminium reduction and the simultaneous nitriding (N2 atmosphere leads to the obtention of alumina and phases of the Si-Al-O-N system. These phases are of great interest for structural ceramics. Mixes prepared with andalusite and Al° (different content were treated with N2 up to 1550 °C., using a heating rate of 5 °/min. Thermal effects (DTA and weight changes (TG, DTG of nitriding reactions during heating were evaluated. The reaction mechanism was determined using DTA-TG-DTG techniques. Results indicate that Si° and AlN are important intermediate phases during reactions. The final products were a-Al2O3 with sialons, mainly b’ phase and polytype sialons. The final formed phases depend on the Al° content and can be predicted using the Si-Al-O-N phase diagram.Cerâmicas à base de alumina apresentam importantes aplicações em engenharia por causa de suas boas propriedades físico-químicas; entretanto, seu desempenho pode ser melhorado pela adição de uma segunda fase.     Phase relation in the Tl{sub 4}SnSe{sub 4}–TlSbSe{sub 2}–Tl{sub 2}SnSe{sub 3} quasiternary system were studied by the DTA and X-ray diffraction in combination with mathematical modeling. The phase diagrams of the Tl{sub 4}SnSe{sub 4}–TlSbSe{sub 2} and Tl{sub 2}SnSe{sub 3}–TlSbSe{sub 2} systems, the perspective views of the phase interaction in the ternary system, the liquidus surface projection, the isothermal section at 423 K were built for the first time. The Tl{sub 4}SnSe{sub 4}–TlSbSe{sub 2}–Tl{sub 2}SnSe{sub 3} system is of the invariant eutectic type and is characterized by the formation of limited solid solutions following initial ternary compounds. New complex compounds are not formed. - Highlights: • Two Tl{sub 4}SnSe{sub 4}–TlSbSe{sub 2},Tl{sub 2}SnSe{sub 3}–TlSbSe{sub 2} systems were explored. • Invariant processes in the ternary system were determined. • New complex compounds were not observed in ternary system.

Black-Right-Pointing-Pointer The synthesized Li-NASICON materials are excellent lithium fast cation conductors. - Abstract: Five selected compounds of Li-NASICON, Li{sub 3}Zr{sub 2-y}Si{sub 2-4y}P{sub 1+4y}O{sub 12} (0 Less-Than-Or-Slanted-Equal-To y Less-Than-Or-Slanted-Equal-To 0.5), were synthesized by sol-gel chemistry in order to obtain pure polycrystalline powder and then analyzed by different physicochemical characterizations such as coupled DTA (differential thermal analysis)-TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), XRPD (X-ray powder diffraction), CIS (complex impedance spectroscopy) and MAS (magic angle spinning)-NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance). So the calcined temperature of each sample has been deduced from its corresponding DTA-TGA thermogram. However, the recorded X-ray powder diffractograms were indexed in the rhombohedral system with R3{sup Macron }c space group which corresponds to the ideal structure of NASICON. Whereas, the complex impedance spectroscopy study showed that these Li-NASICON materials are excellent lithium fast cation conductors with total electric conductivity maximal value 1.97 Multiplication-Sign 10{sup -3} S cm{sup -1} at 293 K in the case of Li{sub 3}Zr{sub 1.5}P{sub 3}O{sub 12}. Furthermore, {sup 7}Li, {sup 31}P and {sup 29}Si MAS-NMR spectroscopy study and DFT/B3LYP theoretical calculations of chemical shifts were performed to discuss the ambiguousness that exists between the resonance peak number in the experimental spectrum and the crystallographic site number relative to Li{sub 3}Zr{sub 2}Si{sub 2}PO{sub 12}.

    Ring-opening of heteroaromatics and heteroatom-removal reaction were studied experimentally using the acidic catalyst containing phosphoric acid for improvement of an upgrading method of coal derived oils. In experiment, some Ru-carrying metal oxide catalysts such as RMZ, RML and RMN catalyst, and MNP catalyst containing phosphoric acid were used as specimens. Nuclear hydrogenation reaction and hydro-denitrogenation reaction of dibenzothiophene and carbazole were compared with each other. The experimental results are as follows. Both RMN and RMNP catalysts offer a superior selectivity in nuclear hydrogenation reaction and hydro-denitrogenation reaction of carbazole. Although both catalysts offer an extremely high nuclear hydrogenation activity at 360{degree}C, these offer the high selectivity of denitrogenation products at 430{degree}C. In comparison of the activities of MN and MNP catalysts with the same Mn2O3:NiO ratio, MNP catalyst offers the higher denitrogenation activity than MN catalyst at 430{degree}C. 1 ref., 3 tabs.

  2. Heavy metal accumulation of urban domestic rubbish compost in turfgrass by DTA chelating

    Seven kinds of heavy metal accumulation of rubbish compost in turfgrass by EDTA chelating were investigated. With EDTA application, heavy metal accumulation by two species of turfgrass was increased significantly. The enrichment coefficients of Lolium perenne L(L) and Festuca arundinacea L(F) to Cr reached 9.45 and 6.15 respectively. In the range of EDTA dosages given, heavy metal accumulation in turfgrass increased with increasing EDTA level. There were significant differences in remediation of different metals by applying EDTA. L had high ability to accumulate Cr, Cd, Ni and Zn, showing better remediation to heavy metals of rubbish compost.In contrast, F showed high ability to accumulate Cr, Ni, Cu and Zn. Low EDTA level increased aboveground net primary production (ANP) of turfgrass, but EDTA would considerably inhibit it when EDTA was higher than 20 mmol/kg. The results demonstrated that the optimum dosage of EDTA for remediating heavy metals in rubbish compost by turfgrass was between 10 mmol/kg and 20 mmol/kg.

    The praseodymium(III) tungstates (Pr{sub 2}W{sub 2}O{sub 9} and Pr{sub 2}WO{sub 6}) have been prepared as polycrystalline powders by thermal treatments of Pr{sub 6}O{sub 11}/WO{sub 3} mixtures in air. It was found the existence of only two polymorphic modification of Pr{sub 2}W{sub 2}O{sub 9}. The low-temperature polymorph of Pr{sub 2}W{sub 2}O{sub 9} undergoes reversible polymorphic transition at 1390 K. Pr{sub 2}W{sub 2}O{sub 9} melts incongruently at 1462 K. Low-temperature modification of Pr{sub 2}WO{sub 6} is thermally stable up to 1773 K. EPR spectra had shown weak only interactions between tungstate W{sup 5+} ions that were confirmed also by XPS measurements. Hyperfine structure of W{sup 4+} ions was also recognized. The spectra characteristics for Pr{sup 4+} ions were not observed both in EPR and XPS experiments.

    The 1H solid state NMR spectra of four sulphonamide derivatives of 1,2,4-benzothiadiazine-1,1-dioxides (thiazides) were recorded at different temperatures in the range 100-400 K and the temperature dependencies of the second moment ( M2) of the resonant line and spin-lattice relaxation time ( T1) were measured. The minimum in the temperature dependence of the T1 revealed an activation process related to the hindered rotation (jumps) of the -NH 2 group. The activation energy of this motion estimated on the basis of the fit of the theoretical model to the experimental points was 36.5 kJ/mol for HCTZ, 31.8 kJ/mol for ATZ, 35.2 kJ/mol for TCTZ and 40.6 kJ/mol for CTZ, and was close to that calculated by the DFT (B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p)) method for the model assuming the -NH 2 jumps between two equilibrium positions. This type motion is responsible for the reduction in the NMR line second moment by approximately 1Gs 2 observed for all the thiazides studied. Thiazides also perform a quasi-isotropic motion tumbling whose activation energy is higher than that of the hindered jumps of the NH 2 group. This motion is characterized only by M2 reduction.     Full Text Available MeSO4 (Me = Fe, Co, Ni dissociation is investigated in order to estimate the effect of temperature, time and presence of coke as reducer on the degree and mechanism of dissociation. It is proved that the presence of coke decreases the dissociation temperature considerably and increases the degree of MeSO4 dissociation. Based on the obtained experimental data, a mechanism of the processes is proposed. The obtained results can be used in the industrial production of non-ferrous metals for explaining the processes that take place in the reduction of zinc and lead cakes in order to achieve favorable environmental, technical and economic results.

  7. EBSD and DTA Characterization of A356 Alloy Deformed by ECAP During Reheating and Partial Re-melting

    Recrystallization and partial re-melting processes have been developed for producing semi-solid feedstock in a solid state in which a globular microstructure is obtained by plastic deformation followed by reheating. In this research, to induce strain, a cast- and solution-treated Aluminum A356 (7 wt pct Si) alloy was subjected to a repetitive equal channel angular pressing process using a 90 deg die, up to a total accumulated strain of approximately 8 in route A (increasing strain through a sequence of passes with no rotation of the sample after each pass) at ambient temperature. The microstructural evolutions of deformed and reheated materials were studied by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and electron back-scattered diffraction analysis. In addition, the influences of pre-deformation on the recrystallization mechanism and liquid formation of A356 alloy were presented and discussed. The results are also supported by differential thermal analysis experiments. Evaluation of the observations indicated that the average cell boundary misorientation increased with increasing strain, so this increased misorientation accelerated the mobility of boundaries and recrystallization kinetics. Therefore, the recrystallization mechanism and kinetics affected by deformation, reheating condition, and intrinsic material properties determined the particle size in the semi-solid state.

    Waning vaccine-induced immunity against Bordetella pertussis is observed among adolescents and adults. A high incidence of pertussis has been reported in this population, which serves as a reservoir for B. pertussis. A fifth dose of reduced antigen of diphtheria-tetanus-acellular-pertussis and inactivated polio vaccine was given as a booster dose to healthy teenagers. The antibody activity against B. pertussis antigens was measured prior to and 4 to 8 weeks after the booster by different assays: enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) of IgG and IgA against pertussis toxin (PT) and filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), IgG against pertactin (PRN), opsonophagocytic activity (OPA), and IgG binding to live B. pertussis. There was a significant increase in the IgG activity against PT, FHA, and PRN following the booster immunization (P antibodies against FHA and PRN contribute the most to the OPA and IgG binding.

    Dialkyldimethylammonium halides are known for their applications as commercial detergents and for their membrane-mimetic properties. They display both thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystalline properties. In this work we establish the T(p)-phase diagrams of two representatives, namely didodecyl- and ditetradecyl-ammonium bromides. The transitions between crystal, smectic Ii and smectic I phases were recorded using a high-pressure differential thermal analysis device. For both compounds the stable range of smectic II phase is pressure-limited, resulting in a triple point crystal/smectic II/smectic I. Enthalpy changes at ambient pressure have been determined with the aid of a commercial heat flux differential scanning calorimeter. Volume changes were calculated from the slopes of the transitions lines, employing the Clausius Clapeyron equation.

    Samples of pneumococcal vaccine polyvalent, 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, and two different diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccines adsorbed were irradiated with X-rays and/or gamma-rays (Co-60). Mouse IgG and IgM antibody responses (ELISA) for types 9V, 14, 18C, and 19F pneumococcal polysaccharides and conjugates indicated that the polysaccharides were more tolerant of the radiation than the conjugates. The mouse antibody response for the detoxified pertussis toxin (PT) antigen, filamentous hemagglutinin antigen (FHA), pertactin (PRN), and fimbriae types 2 and 3 (FIM) antigens for the appropriate vaccine type indicated that the antibody response was not significantly changed in the 25 kGy X-ray irradiated vaccines frozen in liquid nitrogen compared to the control vaccine.

    Samples of pneumococcal vaccine polyvalent, 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, and two different diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccines adsorbed were irradiated with X-rays and/or gamma-rays (Co-60). Mouse IgG and IgM antibody responses (ELISA) for types 9V, 14, 18C, and 19F pneumococcal polysaccharides and conjugates indicated that the polysaccharides were more tolerant of the radiation than the conjugates. The mouse antibody response for the detoxified pertussis toxin (PT) antigen, filamentous hemagglutinin antigen (FHA), pertactin (PRN), and fimbriae types 2 and 3 (FIM) antigens for the appropriate vaccine type indicated that the antibody response was not significantly changed in the 25 kGy X-ray irradiated vaccines frozen in liquid nitrogen compared to the control vaccine.

    The formation of water/oil emulsions can cause problems in various stages of production, processing and refining of petroleum. In this study, the technique of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) using the method of attenuated total reflectance (ATR) was applied to study the solid-solutions of block copolymers based on poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) (PEO-PPO) interface and its interaction in this interface with asphaltenic fractions of petroleum. The solid is the crystal of the ATR. Initially, we determined the critical micelle concentration values of the copolymers, which were consistent those obtained by a tensiometer. Bottle Test was also performed to correlate the efficiency of PEO-PPO copolymers in the breaking of water/oil emulsions with its adsorption at the interfaces solutions. (author)

    On March 24, 2015, the Food and Drug Administration licensed an additional combined diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis adsorbed (DTaP) and inactivated poliovirus (IPV) vaccine (DTaP-IPV) (Quadracel, Sanofi Pasteur Inc.). Quadracel is the second DTaP-IPV vaccine to be licensed for use among children aged 4 through 6 years in the United States (1). Quadracel is approved for administration as a fifth dose in the DTaP series and as a fourth or fifth dose in the IPV series in children aged 4 through 6 years who have received 4 doses of DTaP-IPV-Hib (Pentacel, Sanofi Pasteur) and/or DTaP (Daptacel, Sanofi Pasteur) vaccine (2,3). This report summarizes the indications for Quadracel vaccine and provides guidance from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for its use.

  1. Case-based knowledge formalization and reasoning method for digital terrain analysis - application to extracting drainage networks

    Application of digital terrain analysis (DTA), which is typically a modeling process involving workflow building, relies heavily on DTA domain knowledge of the match between the algorithm (and its parameter settings) and the application context (including the target task, the terrain in the study area, the DEM resolution, etc.), which is referred to as application-context knowledge. However, existing DTA-assisted tools often cannot use application-context knowledge because this type of DTA knowledge has not been formalized to be available for inference in these tools. This situation makes the DTA workflow-building process difficult for users, especially non-expert users. This paper proposes a case-based formalization for DTA application-context knowledge and a corresponding case-based reasoning method. A case in this context consists of a series of indices that formalize the DTA application-context knowledge and the corresponding similarity calculation methods for case-based reasoning. A preliminary experiment to determine the catchment area threshold for extracting drainage networks has been conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. In the experiment, 124 cases of drainage network extraction (50 for evaluation and 74 for reasoning) were prepared from peer-reviewed journal articles. Preliminary evaluation shows that the proposed case-based method is a suitable way to use DTA application-context knowledge to achieve a marked reduction in the modeling burden for users.

    The technique of differential thermal analysis is widely used to investigate dispersed organic matters present in sedimentary rocks in an attempt to interprete some problems concerning petroleum geology. In our practice, sufficient separation of organic matters from the mineral matrix has been made and DTA curves measured.On the basis of the characteristie of DTA curves, the classification of the types of organic matters has been done and a series of indexes developed to determine the degrec of metamorphism of organic matters as well as the possible direction of oil migration, thus providing reliable clues to the promising regions for petroleum exploration. Since various factors would act on DTA curves during experiments, correct and comprehensive interpretation of DTA results still await further investigation.

    This paper analyzes pricing strategies for US pediatric combination vaccines by comparing the lowest overall cost formularies (i.e., formularies that have the lowest overall cost). Three pharmaceutical companies compete pairwise over the sale of monovalent and combination vaccines. Particular emphasis is placed on examining the price of Sanofi Pasteur's DTaP-IPV/HIb under different conditions. The main contribution of the paper is to provide the lowest overall cost formularies for different prices of DTaP-IPV/HIb and other Sanofi Pasteur vaccines. The resulting analysis shows that DTaP-IPV/HIb could have been more competitively priced compared with the combination vaccine DTaP-HepB-IPV, for federal contract prices in 2009, 2010 and 2011. This study also proposes the lowest overall cost formularies when shortages of monovalent vaccines occur.

    We report a facile approach to forming dendrimer-stabilized gold nanoparticles (Au DSNPs) through the use of amine-terminated fifth-generation poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers modified by diatrizoic acid (G5.NH(2)-DTA) as stabilizers for enhanced computed tomography (CT) imaging applications. In this study, by simply mixing G5.NH(2)-DTA dendrimers with gold salt in aqueous solution at room temperature, dendrimer-entrapped gold nanoparticles (Au DENPs) with a mean core size of 2.5 nm were able to be spontaneously formed. Followed by an acetylation reaction to neutralize the dendrimer remaining terminal amines, Au DSNPs with a mean size of 6 nm were formed. The formed DTA-containing [(Au(0))(50)-G5.NHAc-DTA] DSNPs were characterized via different techniques. We show that the Au DSNPs are colloid stable in aqueous solution under different pH and temperature conditions. In vitro hemolytic assay, cytotoxicity assay, flow cytometry analysis, and cell morphology observation reveal that the formed Au DSNPs have good hemocompatibility and are non-cytotoxic at a concentration up to 3.0 μM. X-ray absorption coefficient measurements show that the DTA-containing Au DSNPs have enhanced attenuation intensity, much higher than that of [(Au(0))(50)-G5.NHAc] DENPs without DTA or Omnipaque at the same molar concentration of the active element (Au or iodine). The formed DTA-containing Au DSNPs can be used for CT imaging of cancer cells in vitro as well as for blood pool CT imaging of mice in vivo with significantly improved signal enhancement. With the two radiodense elements of Au and iodine incorporated within one particle, the formed DTA-containing Au DSNPs may be applicable for CT imaging of various biological systems with enhanced X-ray attenuation property and detection sensitivity.

    AIM: To validate the feasibility of digital tomosynthesis of the abdomen(DTA) combined with contrast enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) in assessing complications after endovascular aortic aneurysm repair(EVAR) by using computed tomography angiography(CTA) as the gold standard.METHODS: For this prospective study we enrolled 163 patients(123 men; mean age, 65.7 years) referred for CTA for EVAR follow-up. CTA, DTA and CEUS were performed at 1 and 12 mo in all patients, with a maximum time interval of 2 d.RESULTS: Among 163 patients 33 presented complications at CTA. DTA and CTA correlated for the presence of complications in 32/33(96.96%) patients and for the absence of complications in 127/130(97.69%) patients; the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV), negative predictive value(NPV) and accuracy of DTA were 97%, 98%, 91%, 99%, and 98%, respectively. CEUS and CTA correlated for the presence of complications in 19/33(57.57%) patients and for the absence of complications in 129/130(99.23%) patients; the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy of CEUS were 58%, 99%, 95%, 90%, and 91%, respectively. Sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of combining DTA and CEUS together in detecting EVAR complications were 77%, 98% and 95%, respectively.CONCLUSION: Combining DTA and CEUS in EVAR follow-up has the potential to limit the use of CTA only in doubtful cases.

Methods:Constructing recombinant expression vector PGL3-DF3-DTA and transfecting it into human breast cancer cells of DF3 positive and negative. By means of RT-PCR to measure the expression of DTA in human breast cancer cells. MTT color-imetry was used to examine the effect of PGL3-DF3-DTA on growth of human breast cancer calls. By experiment on nude mice to observe the killing effect of PGL3-DF3-DTA on human breast cancer cells. Results:Recombinant expression vector PGL3-DF3-DTA was highly expressed in human breast cancer cell line of DF3 positive, and it could kill the human breast cancer cells not only in vitro but also in vivo. Conclusion:Recombinant expression vector PGL3-DF3-DTA could produce specific killing effect on human breast cancer cell line of DF3 positive.

    目的 比较接种吸附无细胞百白破疫苗(DTaP)与全细胞百自破疫苗(DTwP)后发生疑似预防接种异常反应的差异.方法 对2009年1月-2010年12月在辖区内预防接种门诊接种百白破疫苗出现疑似预防接种异常反应进行回顾性分析.结果 62 214名接种DTaP者发生疫苗疑似预防接种异常反应8例,反应率12.86/10万;62 182名接种DTwP者发生疫苗疑似预防接种异常反应54例,反应率86.84/10万;DTwP反应发生率高于DTaP,差异有统计学意义(P<0.01).结论 DTaP的接种副反应较DTwP低、安全性好,接种百白破联合疫苗时最好使用吸附无细胞百白破疫苗(DTaP).%Objective To compare the difference abnormal reaction in preventive vaccination between absorbed diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertusis combined vaccine(DTaP) and absorbed diphtheria, tetanus and whole - cell pertusis combined vaccine( DTwP). Methods Retrospective analysis on suspected adverse events following immunization (AEFI) of diphtheria, tetanus and pertusis combined vaccine in Luohu Distric during Jan 2009 - Dec 2010. Results Eight AEFI cases were observed in 62 214 cases vaccinated with DTaP. The reaction rate was 12.86/100,000. In 62 182 cases vaccinated with DTwP, 54 AEFI cases were observed. The reaction rate was 86.84/100,000. The reaction rate in DTwP group was higher than the DTaP group (with statistical significance, P<0.01). Conclusions The adverse reaction rate of DTaP is comparatively lower. DTaP is safe and recommended for vaccination.

    Threonine aldolases catalyze the pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent cleavage of threonine into glycine and acetaldehyde and play a major role in the degradation of this amino acid. In nature, L- as well as D-specific enzymes have been identified, but the exact physiological function of D-threonine aldolases (DTAs) is still largely unknown. Both types of enantio-complementary enzymes have a considerable potential in biocatalysis for the stereospecific synthesis of various β-hydroxy amino acids, which are valuable building blocks for the production of pharmaceuticals. While several structures of L-threonine aldolases (LTAs) have already been determined, no structure of a DTA is available to date. Here, we report on the determination of the crystal structure of the DTA from Alcaligenes xylosoxidans (AxDTA) at 1.5 Å resolution. Our results underline the close relationship of DTAs and alanine racemases and allow the identification of a metal binding site close to the PLP-cofactor in the active site of the enzyme which is consistent with the previous observation that divalent cations are essential for DTA activity. Modeling of AxDTA substrate complexes provides a rationale for this metal dependence and indicates that binding of the β-hydroxy group of the substrate to the metal ion very likely activates this group and facilitates its deprotonation by His193. An equivalent involvement of a metal ion has been implicated in the mechanism of a serine dehydratase, which harbors a metal ion binding site in the vicinity of the PLP cofactor at the same position as in DTA. The structure of AxDTA is completely different to available structures of LTAs. The enantio-complementarity of DTAs and LTAs can be explained by an approximate mirror symmetry of crucial active site residues relative to the PLP-cofactor.

    The success of Advanced Traveler Information 5ystems (ATIS) and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) depends on the availability and dissemination of timely and accurate estimates of current and emerging traffic network conditions. Real-time Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) systems are being developed to provide the required timely information. The DTA systems will provide faithful and coherent real-time, pre-trip, and en-route guidance/information which includes routing, mode, and departure time suggestions for use by travelers, ATIS, and ATMS. To ensure the credibility and deployment potential of such DTA systems, an evaluation system supporting all phases of DTA system development has been designed and presented in this paper. This evaluation system is called the DTA System Laboratory (DSL). A major component of the DSL is a ground- truth simulator, the DTA Evaluation System (DES). The DES is envisioned to be a virtual representation of a transportation system in which ATMS and ATIS technologies are deployed. It simulates the driving and decision-making behavior of travelers in response to ATIS and ATMS guidance, information, and control. This paper presents the major evaluation requirements for a DTA Systems, a modular modeling framework for the DES, and a distributed DES design. The modeling framework for the DES is modular, meets the requirements, can be assembled using both legacy and independently developed modules, and can be implemented as a either a single process or a distributed system. The distributed design is extendible, provides for the optimization of distributed performance, and object-oriented design within each distributed component. A status report on the development of the DES and other research applications is also provided.

    The success of Advanced Traveler Information 5ystems (ATIS) and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) depends on the availability and dissemination of timely and accurate estimates of current and emerging traffic network conditions. Real-time Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) systems are being developed to provide the required timely information. The DTA systems will provide faithful and coherent real-time, pre-trip, and en-route guidance/information which includes routing, mode, and departure time suggestions for use by travelers, ATIS, and ATMS. To ensure the credibility and deployment potential of such DTA systems, an evaluation system supporting all phases of DTA system development has been designed and presented in this paper. This evaluation system is called the DTA System Laboratory (DSL). A major component of the DSL is a ground- truth simulator, the DTA Evaluation System (DES). The DES is envisioned to be a virtual representation of a transportation system in which ATMS and ATIS technologies are deployed. It simulates the driving and decision-making behavior of travelers in response to ATIS and ATMS guidance, information, and control.     Full Text Available Threonine aldolases catalyze the pyridoxal phosphate (PLP dependent cleavage of threonine into glycine and acetaldehyde and play a major role in the degradation of this amino acid. In nature, L- as well as D-specific enzymes have been identified, but the exact physiological function of D-threonine aldolases (DTAs is still largely unknown. Both types of enantio-complementary enzymes have a considerable potential in biocatalysis for the stereospecific synthesis of various β-hydroxy amino acids, which are valuable building blocks for the production of pharmaceuticals. While several structures of L-threonine aldolases (LTAs have already been determined, no structure of a DTA is available to date. Here, we report on the determination of the crystal structure of the DTA from Alcaligenes xylosoxidans (AxDTA at 1.5 Å resolution. Our results underline the close relationship of DTAs and alanine racemases and allow the identification of a metal binding site close to the PLP-cofactor in the active site of the enzyme which is consistent with the previous observation that divalent cations are essential for DTA activity. Modeling of AxDTA substrate complexes provides a rationale for this metal dependence and indicates that binding of the β-hydroxy group of the substrate to the metal ion very likely activates this group and facilitates its deprotonation by His193. An equivalent involvement of a metal ion has been implicated in the mechanism of a serine dehydratase, which harbors a metal ion binding site in the vicinity of the PLP cofactor at the same position as in DTA. The structure of AxDTA is completely different to available structures of LTAs. The enantio-complementarity of DTAs and LTAs can be explained by an approximate mirror symmetry of crucial active site residues relative to the PLP-cofactor.

  4. Comparative effectiveness of acellular versus whole-cell pertussis vaccines in teenagers.

    During the 1990s, the United States switched from combined diphtheria, tetanus toxoids, whole-cell pertussis (DTwP) vaccines to combined acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccines because of safety concerns. After a 2010-2011 pertussis outbreak, we sought to evaluate whether disease risk in 10 to 17 year olds differed between those who previously received DTwP from those who received DTaP. A case-control study among individuals born from 1994 to 1999 who received 4 pertussis-containing vaccines during the first 2 years of life at Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC). We separately compared pertussis polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-positive cases with PCR-negative and KPNC-matched controls. We assessed risk of pertussis relative to vaccine type in early childhood (4 DTwPs, mixed DTwP/DTaP, or 4 DTaPs) by using conditional logistic regression stratified for calendar time and adjusted for gender, race, medical clinic, and receipt of reduced antigen content acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine. We compared 138 PCR-positive cases with 899 PCR-negative and 54 339 KPNC-matched controls. Teenagers who had received 4 DTwPs were much less likely to be pertussis PCR-positive than those who had received 4 DTaPs (odds ratio 5.63, 95% confidence interval 2.55-12.46) or mixed DTwP/DTaP vaccines (odds ratio 3.77, 95% confidence interval 1.57-9.07). Decreasing number of DTwP doses was significantly associated with increased pertussis risk (P vaccines in childhood were more protected during a pertussis outbreak than were those who received DTaP vaccines.

  5. Analysis of Solidiifcation of High Manganese Steels Using Improved Differential Thermal Analysis Method

    High manganese steels can damage the differential thermal analysis (DTA) instrument due to the manganese evaporation during high temperature experiments. After analyzing the relationship between residual oxygen and manganese evaporation, tanta-lum metal was employed to modify the crucible of DTA, and zirconium getter together with strict gas puriifcation measures were applied to control the volatilization of manganese. By these modiifcations, problems of thermocouple damage and DTA instrument contamination were successfully resolved. Cobalt samples were adopted to calibrate the accuracy of DTA instruments under the same trial condition of high manganese steel samples, and the detection error was conifrmed to be less than 1 °C. Liquidus and soli-dus temperatures of high Mn steels were measured by improved DTA method. It was found that the liquidus temperatures of sam-ples tested by experiments increased linearly with the heating rates. To eliminate the effects of the heating rate, equilibrium liquidus temperature was determined by iftting the liquidus temperatures at different heating rates, and referred as real liquidus temperature. No clear relationship between solidus temperatures and heating rates was found, and the solidus temperature was ifnally set as the average value of several experimental data.

    The aim was to demonstrate the immunogenicity and safety of a DTaP-IPV//PRP-T combined vaccine (Pentaxim(®)) compared to individual vaccines in infants in the People's Republic of China. Infants (N=792) were randomly assigned to receive DTaP-IPV//PRP-T at 2, 3 and 4 months of age (Group A) or 3, 4 and 5 months of age (Group B), or DTaP (Wuhan Institute of Biological Products), PRP-T (Act-Hib(®)) and IPV (Imovax(®) Polio) at 3, 4 and 5 months of age (Group C). Antibody titers were measured pre- and 1 month after the third vaccination; non-inferiority analyses were performed for seroprotection/seroconversion (SP/SC) rates. Safety was assessed 1 month after the primary series. SP/SC rates for the DTaP-IPV//PRP-T vaccine were high and non-inferior to the controls. Reactogenicity was low for each group and no hypotonic hyporesponsive episode or seizure was reported. In conclusion, the DTaP-IPV//PRP-T vaccine was highly immunogenic, non-inferior to the commercially available control vaccines and had a good safety profile for both primary administration schedules.

    Study comparisons rest on the assessment of applicability or external validity. Population characteristics are an important component of external validity and, although there has been a heightened awareness of deficiencies in reporting in diagnostic test accuracy (DTA) studies, the reporting of populations in DTA studies has not been investigated. To assess the quality of reporting of population descriptions in DTA studies for fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). Literature survey of common population parameters and usage patterns in FNAC DTA studies. We randomly selected 20 FNAC DTA studies in 4 categories (salivary glands, lung, thyroid, and pancreas) and determined the frequency of parameter usage. Studies showed considerable variability in reporting patterns. On average, studies reported 2 to 4 parameters to describe study populations. Age, sex, and lesion size were most frequently reported. Sixteen percent of studies did not provide any population description. Population parameters were used to describe the sample population more frequently than to describe the selection process (P = .001). There were significant differences in the number of parameters specified by anatomic site (P = .001). Only 21% of studies provided a flow diagram. Thirty-three percent of studies mentioned the target population. Studies show considerable variability in the description of sample populations and the population selection process. Studies often fail to provide flow diagrams or to provide a clear statement of the research problem. There is considerable opportunity for studies to improve both descriptions of sample populations and the process used to select them.

    Tetravalent meningococcal serogroups ACWY conjugate vaccines will provide an advantage to those at most risk of invasive meningococcal disease; namely young children. Co-administration of ACWY-TT with DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib was assessed in a randomized trial in 793 children aged 12-23 months. Pre-specified criteria for non-inferiority of immunogenicity following co-administration versus separate ACWY-TT and DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib administration were reached. One month post-vaccination, ≥ 97.3% of ACWY-TT vaccinees had rSBA titres ≥ 1:8 (all serogroups). Seroprotection/seropositivity rates against DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib antigens were ≥ 98.2%. The safety profile of co-administration was similar to that of DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib alone. ACWY-TT and DTaP-HBV-IPV/Hib co-administration during the second year would facilitate introduction of ACWY-TT into routine toddler vaccination schedules.

    目的:考察茯苓发酵菌丝体中3种主要三萜酸类成分动态积累变化.方法:建立茯苓菌的液体培养方法,采用RP-HPLC测定茯苓发酵菌丝体中去氢土莫酸(DTA),3-表去氢土莫酸(eDTA)和猪苓酸C(PAC)3种主要三萜酸类成分的含量,色谱条件如下:PLATISIL ODS色谱柱(4.6 mm×250 mm,5μm);流动相乙腈-0.5%磷酸水(80:20);流速1.0 mL·min-1;检测波长242 nm.结果:在培养后的第8天,生物量达到最大值,但是3种主要三萜酸类成分(DTA,eDTA,PAC)的含量在培养周期内呈持续上升趋势,第17天测得3种成分质量分数分别为1.2% (DTA),0.4% (eDTA),1.0% (PAC),均显著高于栽培茯苓中对应成分[0.2%(DTA),0.12% (eDTA),0.16% (PAC)].另外,3种成分含量比例的线性回归分析结果表明,DTA与eDTA和PAC的含量比例呈显著负相关,相关系数(R2)分别为0.858 7,0.971 7.该结果表明DTA为茯苓中三萜酸类成分生合成途径中的重要中间体.结论:发酵培养17 d的茯苓菌丝体中DTA,eDTA,PAC含量之和为栽培茯苓中含量的5.55倍,说明在本发酵培养条件下,发酵培养生产茯苓中三萜酸类有效成分技术可行.%Objective:To study the dymamic accumulation of triterpenic acids production in submerged cultivation mycelium of Poria cocos.Method:Liquid culture method of P.cocos was established and RP-HPLC was applied to determine the contents of three main triterpenic acids dehydrotumulosic acid (DTA),3-epi-dehydrotumulosic acid (eDTA) and polyporenic acid C (PAC) in submerged cultivation mycelium P.cocos at different culture stages and the contents were compared with cultivated P.cocos.The HPLC method is as follows,column:Plastisil ODS (4.6 mm x 250 mm,5 μm) ; mobile phase:ACN/0.5% phosphate (80:20) ; flow rate:1.0 mL · min-1 ; detective wavelength:242 nm.Result:The maximum biomass occurred at the 8th d after inoluctation,however,the contents and yield of three compounds increased till the 17th day.The contents of

  10. Uniform dehydrogenation of amorphous silicon thin films using a wide thermal annealing system

    To prevent ablation caused by sudden hydrogen eruption during crystallization of hydrogenated amorphous Si (a-Si:H) thin films, a wide dehydrogenation thermal annealing (wDTA) system was developed to reduce hydrogen content in a-Si:H film prior to its crystallization process. The annealed a-Si:H films were fully dehydrogenated and nanocrystallized by the wDTA system. Raman scattering measurement revealed that the dehydrogenation process lowers the hydrogen content through disappearance of the peak intensity at 2000 cm-1. The a-Si:H film was transformed into nanocrystallized Si with lower residual stress. The major advantage of this wDTA was the large area uniformity of the thermal and the resulting material properties for 8 generation display. The uniform material characteristics of the hydrogen content, thickness, energy bandgap, and transmittance of the annealed Si films in the overall area was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry, and UV-vis spectrometer measurement.

    Diagnostic test accuracy (DTA) studies on fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) often show considerable variability in diagnostic accuracy between study centers. Many factors affect the accuracy of FNAC. A complete description of the testing parameters would help make valid comparisons between studies and determine causes of performance variation. We investigated the manner in which test conditions are specified in FNAC DTA studies to determine which parameters are most commonly specified and the frequency with which they are specified and to see whether there is significant variability in reporting practice. We identified 17 frequently reported test parameters and found significant variation in the reporting of these test specifications across studies. On average, studies reported 5 of the 17 items that would be required to specify the test conditions completely. A more complete and standardized reporting of methods, perhaps by means of a checklist, would improve the interpretation of FNAC DTA studies.

    In this work, the sintering process of Portland cement was studied by combining thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA), together with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Thermal analysis results employing both techniques indicted that phase transformations appeared at lower temperatures when CaF{sub 2} was incorporated in the raw materials. Besides, it was observed at high temperature that in some phase transformations TMA conducts to better resolution compared with the DTA measurements. Furthermore, mechanical properties and X-ray diffraction patterns corroborate the TMA and DTA results, corroborating that the final amount of alite (Ca{sub 3}SiO{sub 5}) is higher when a certain amount of CaF{sub 2} was present during the clinkerization process.

    Full Text Available Diphtheria toxin is a single-chain protein toxin that invades human cells by receptor-mediated endocytosis. In acidic endosomes, its translocation domain inserts into endosomal membranes and facilitates the transport of the catalytic domain (DTA from endosomal lumen into the host cell cytosol. Here, DTA ADP-ribosylates elongation factor 2 inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death. The compound 4-bromobenzaldehyde N-(2,6-dimethylphenylsemicarbazone (EGA has been previously shown to protect cells from various bacterial protein toxins which deliver their enzymatic subunits from acidic endosomes to the cytosol, including Bacillus anthracis lethal toxin and the binary clostridial actin ADP-ribosylating toxins C2, iota and Clostridium difficile binary toxin (CDT. Here, we demonstrate that EGA also protects human cells from diphtheria toxin by inhibiting the pH-dependent translocation of DTA across cell membranes. The results suggest that EGA might serve for treatment and/or prevention of the severe disease diphtheria.

    In this study, a duality theorem-based algorithm (DTA) for inexact quadratic programming (IQP) is developed for municipal solid waste (MSW) management under uncertainty. It improves upon the existing numerical solution method for IQP problems. The comparison between DTA and derivative algorithm (DAM) shows that the DTA method provides better solutions than DAM with lower computational complexity. It is not necessary to identify the uncertain relationship between the objective function and decision variables, which is required for the solution process of DAM. The developed method is applied to a case study of MSW management and planning. The results indicate that reasonable solutions have been generated for supporting long-term MSW management and planning. They could provide more information as well as enable managers to make better decisions to identify desired MSW management policies in association with minimized cost under uncertainty.

    Thermal decomposition of tetra(piperidinium)octamolybdate tetrahydrate,[CsH10NH2]4[Mo8O26]·4H2O,was investigated in air by means of TG-DTG/DTA.DSC,TG-IR and SEM.TG-DTG/DTA curves showed that the decomposition proceeded through three well-defined steps with DTA peaks closely corresponding to mass loss obtained.Kinetics analysis of its dehydration step Was performed under non-isothermal conditions.The dehydrationactivation energy was calculated through Friedman and Flynn-Wall-Ozawa(FWO)methods,and the best-fit dehydration kinetic model function was estimated through the multiple linear regression method.The activation energy for the dehydration step of[C5H10NH2]4[MosO26]·4H2O was 139.7 kJ/mol.The solid particles became smaller accompanied by the thermal decomposition of the title compound.

  17. Effect of mechanical activation on TiC synthesis reaction in Al-Ti-C powder mixture

    After milling in a high-energy ball miller for various times, the synthesis reaction process of the Al-Ti-C powder mixture were investigated by difference thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). According to the patterns of reaction peaks on the DTA curves, the activation energy of each reaction was calculated. The experimental results of DTA show that the synthesis reaction of Al-Ti-C powder mixture can be enhanced after high-energy milling. The longer the milling time, the lower the reaction temperature. The synthesis reaction of TiC is transformed from Ti+C→TiC to Al3Ti+C→TiC+3Al with long period milling. Meanwhile, the activation energy of the reaction reduces with increasing milling time. The effect of milling time on reduced activation energy for low temperature region is more significant than that for high temperature region.

The aim of this work is to provide a better understanding of the thermodynamics of the hydration–dehydration process of MX-80. The data obtained from thermogravimetry derivative curves at different relative humidities were used to determine the adsorption–desorption isotherm of MX-80. The total amount of water varies from 0.35 to 5.62 and from 0.78 to 6.12 mol adsorbed H{sub 2}O/mol of clay upon adsorption and desorption, respectively, for a RH between 11 and 91%. Furthermore, the heats released upon adsorption and desorption are not completely similar. Moreover, the analysis of DTA signals obtained at various hydration states provides insights about three types of water behavior in MX-80. Therefore, the surface area of DTA curves was taken into account to determine the dehydration enthalpy per mole of water; the values do not correlate with the amount of adsorbed water in MX-80, and the maximum enthalpy was approximately 12 kJ/mol for the adsorption and desorption studies. The values obtained were combined with the standard enthalpies of the formation of liquid water to obtain the corresponding enthalpy of the formation of water relative to dehydrated MX-80.

The methodology for systematic review and meta-analysis in DTA studies differs from that in therapeutic/interventional studies, and its content is still evolving. Here we review the overall process from a practical standpoint, which may serve as a reference for those who implement these methods.

    Full Text Available In vivo GITR ligation has previously been shown to augment T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity, yet the underlying mechanisms of this activity, particularly its in vivo effects on CD4+ foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs, have not been fully elucidated. In order to translate this immunotherapeutic approach to the clinic it is important gain better understanding of its mechanism(s of action. Utilizing the agonist anti-GITR monoclonal antibody DTA-1, we found that in vivo GITR ligation modulates regulatory T cells (Tregs directly during induction of melanoma tumor immunity. As a monotherapy, DTA-1 induced regression of small established B16 melanoma tumors. Although DTA-1 did not alter systemic Treg frequencies nor abrogate the intrinsic suppressive activity of Tregs within the tumor-draining lymph node, intra-tumor Treg accumulation was significantly impaired. This resulted in a greater Teff:Treg ratio and enhanced tumor-specific CD8+ T-cell activity. The decreased intra-tumor Treg accumulation was due both to impaired infiltration, coupled with DTA-1-induced loss of foxp3 expression in intra-tumor Tregs. Histological analysis of B16 tumors grown in Foxp3-GFP mice showed that the majority of GFP+ cells had lost Foxp3 expression. These "unstable" Tregs were absent in IgG-treated tumors and in DTA-1 treated TDLN, demonstrating a tumor-specific effect. Impairment of Treg infiltration was lost if Tregs were GITR(-/-, and the protective effects of DTA-1 were reduced in reconstituted RAG1(-/- mice if either the Treg or Teff subset were GITR-negative and absent if both were negative. Our results demonstrate that DTA-1 modulates both Teffs and Tregs during effective tumor treatment. The data suggest that DTA-1 prevents intra-tumor Treg accumulation by altering their stability, and as a result of the loss of foxp3 expression, may modify their intra-tumor suppressive capacity. 'Hefeng50' and 'Kennong4' ( Glycine max (L.) Merr.), were selected as the experimental materials. The re sults showed that: The S3307 and DTA - 6 increased the activity of Nitrate reductase in soybean leaves by spaying in V3 stage , increased synthesis of NO3 ~ -N and; but the effect was not signigicant to flowers; PGRs decreased abscission cel lulose activity in pod and abscission pod by spaying at R3 stage, the regulation effect of TIBA was the best. Analysis showed that:The plant growth regulators decreased abscission cellulase activity, promoted flowers and pods development of soybean at V3-.R1 and R3 stages, Conducive to increasing production. The comprehensive regulation effect is S3307 > DTA-6>CK> TIBA.

    Prismatic crystals of manganous malate have been prepared by controlled ionic diffusion in hydrosilica gel. The structure was elucidated using single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystals are orthorhombic with space group Pbca. Vibrations of the functional groups were identified by the FTIR spectrum. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses (TG-DTA) were carried out to explore the thermal decomposition pattern of the material. Structural information derived from FTIR and TG-DTA studies is in conformity with the single crystal XRD data.

  4. 3D Microwave Imaging through Full Wave Methods for Heterogenous Media

    In this thesis, a 3D microwave imaging method is developed for a microwave imaging system with an arbitrary background medium. In the previous study on the breast cancer detection of our research group, a full wave inverse method, the Diagonal Tensor approximation combined with Born Iterative Method (DTA-BIM), was proposed to reconstruct the electrical profile of the inversion domain in a homogenous background medium and a layered background medium. In order to evaluate the performance of the DTA-BIM method in a realistic microwave imaging system, an experimental prototype of an active 3D microwave imaging system with scanning antennas is constructed. For the objects immersed in a homogenous background medium or a layered background medium, the inversion results based on the experimental data show that the resolution of the DTA-BIM method can reach finely to a quarter of wavelength of the background medium, and the system's signal-noise-ratio (SNR) requirement is 10 dB. However, the defects of this system make it difficult to be implemented in a realistic application. Thus, another active 3D microwave imaging system is proposed to overcome the problems of the previous system. The new system employs a fixed patch antenna array with electric switch to record the data. The antenna array introduces a non-canonical inhomogeneous background in the inversion system. The analytical Greens' functions employed in the original DTA-BIM method become unavailable. Thus, a modified DTA-BIM method, which use the numerical Green's functions combined with measured voltage, is proposed. This modified DTA-BIM method can be used to the inversion in a non-canonical inhomogeneous background with the measured voltages (or S 21 parameters). In order to verify the performance of this proposed inversion method, we investigate a prototype 3D microwave imaging system with a fixed antenna array.     Bordetella pertussis fimbriae (Fim2 and Fim3) are components of a five-component acellular pertussis vaccine (diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis vaccine [DTaP5]), and antibody responses to fimbriae have been associated with protection. We analyzed the IgG responses to individual Fim2 and Fim3 in sera remaining from a Swedish placebo-controlled efficacy trial that compared a whole-cell vaccine (diphtheria-tetanus-whole-cell pertussis vaccine [DTwP]), a two-component acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP2), and DTaP5. One month following three doses of the Fim-containing vaccines (DTwP or DTaP5), anti-Fim2 geometric mean IgG concentrations were higher than those for anti-Fim3, with a greater anti-Fim2/anti-Fim3 IgG ratio elicited by DTaP5. We also determined the responses in vaccinated children following an episode of pertussis. Those who received DTaP5 showed a large rise in anti-Fim2 IgG, reflecting the predominant Fim2 serotype at the time. In contrast, those who received DTwP showed an equal rise in anti-Fim2 and anti-Fim3 IgG concentrations, indicating that DTwP may provide a more efficient priming effect for a Fim3 response following contact with B. pertussis. Anti-Fim2 and anti-Fim3 IgG concentrations were also determined in samples from two seroprevalence studies conducted in Sweden in 1997, when no pertussis vaccine was used and Fim2 isolates predominated, and in 2007, when either DTaP2 or DTaP3 without fimbriae was used and Fim3 isolates predominated. Very similar distributions of anti-Fim2 and anti-Fim3 IgG concentrations were obtained in 1997 and 2007, except that anti-Fim3 concentrations in 1997 were lower. This observation, together with the numbers of individuals with both anti-Fim2 and anti-Fim3 IgG concentrations, strongly suggests that B. pertussis expresses both Fim2 and Fim3 during infection.

The synthesized sample was characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, TG/DTA, 27Al and 31P MASNMR techniques, which shows that the synthesized sample was highly crystalline.     A tiered protocol for assessing ecological risks has been applied to the rice pesticide profoxydim. The initial assessment (Tier I) was based on toxicity exposure ratio (TER) calculations based on laboratory data using a worst-case rice scenario. The first refinement (Tier II) was based on direct toxicity assessment (DTA) of water samples collected during a field-mesocosm study. Finally, a higher-tier assessment on the in situ assessment of paddy community responses (field-mesocosm-Tier III) was performed. A successive application of three pesticides, the herbicides azimsulfuron, propanil and the insecticide malathion, was used as reference controls. The refined assessments indicated a lower risk than that predicted from TER estimations. DTA-based Tier II showed toxicity effects only for concentrations above the recommended dose of profoxydim. Effects for reference controls were observed in DTA which were not expected from Tier I. The field-mesocosm study confirmed these effects but also showed that they were transient and of low relevance. - Risk refinement assessment of rice pesticides starting with DTA and moving to community studies is a cost-effective approach, only if required.

    This study compared interview and telephone surveys to select the better method for regularly estimating nationwide vaccination coverage rates in Korea. Interview surveys using multi-stage cluster sampling and telephone surveys using stratified random sampling were conducted. Nationwide coverage rates were estimated in subjects with vaccination cards in the interview survey. The interview survey relative to the telephone survey showed a higher response rate, lower missing rate, higher validity and a less difference in vaccination coverage rates between card owners and non-owners. Primary vaccination coverage rate was greater than 90% except for the fourth dose of DTaP (diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis), the third dose of polio, and the third dose of Japanese B encephalitis (JBE). The DTaP4: Polio3: MMR1 fully vaccination rate was 62.0% and BCG1:HepB3:DTaP4:Polio3:MMR1 was 59.5%. For age-appropriate vaccination, the coverage rate was 50%-80%. We concluded that the interview survey was better than the telephone survey. These results can be applied to countries with incomplete registry and decreasing rates of landline telephone coverage due to increased cell phone usage and countries. Among mandatory vaccines, efforts to increase vaccination rate for the fourth dose of DTaP, the third dose of polio, JBE and regular vaccinations at recommended periods should be conducted in Korea.     This study analyses the crystallization of glasses obtained from two samples of sugarcane bagasse ash - SCBA (named Cinza 07 and Cinza 08) mixed with carbonates (calcium and potassium). The glasses and their crystallization were examined using differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The characterizations of the ashes show that they consist mainly of crystalline materials, predominantly quartz, with iron, potassium and aluminum oxides as minor elements. For the sample Cinza07 the DTA data presents broad and overlaid crystallization peaks, indicating crystallization of more than two different phases. The DTA results of samples with different grain-size distribution show that the crystallization peak intensities increase as the sample grain-size decreases, suggesting that surface crystallization actively participate on the mechanism of crystallization. For the sample Cinza 08 the DTA data presents two well defined peaks. In this case, the more intense peak was evaluated to obtain kinetic data (Eat= 355 kJ/mol) to the major phase (Wollastonita).     Review Manager(RevMan)5软件中增加了诊断准确性试验(DTA)的Meta分析的功能,然而软件所提供的使用手册中并未介绍如何使用这一功能.本文结合实例介绍利用RevMan5软件行DTA的Meta分析的方法;同时结合实例介绍如何整理DTA的数据并按二分类数据录入RevMan 5.2中,得出DTA的Meta分析的阳性似然比、阴性似然比和诊断比值比这三个指标的汇总结果.%Review Manager(RevMan) 5 software has the function for meta-analysis of diagnostic test accuracy(DTA) ,however, neither " RevMan 5 User Guide" nor " RevMan 5 Tutorial" introduces how to use this function. Therefore,the objective of this article is to introduce how to use RevMan 5 for performing meta-analysis of DTA. In addition,we also introduced how to organize data from DTA and input the data like the format of " intervention review" for calculating the pooled positive likelihood ratio,pooled negative likelihood ratio,and pooled diagnostic odds ratio.

  5. Research on preservation and enrichment mechanisms of organic matter in muddy sediment and mudstone

    Using multidiscipline methodologies, the differences in preservation and enrichment mechanisms of organic matter (OM) in muddy sediment and mudstone are investigated. In clay fractions, concentra- tions of TOC and chloroform bitumen “A” are significantly higher than those in coarser fractions. This indicates that clay minerals (CM) play an important role in enriching OM. The content of chloroform bitumen “A” increases obviously in the clay fraction, which reveals that dissolvable OM is the main composition of coalesce with clay minerals. Furthermore, TG and DTA data show that OM enrichment mechanisms and preservation forms have multiplicity. Several exothermic peaks in the DTA curves demonstrate that muddy sediment and mudstone contain a number of bioclasts and amorphous OM besides dissolvable OM. Through analyzing with XRD and DTA after mudstone samples were pretreated, the conclusions can be arrived at. Firstly, CM interlayer space of XRD curves and exothermic peaks of DTA curves both change as temperature increases. Secondly, the changes of CM interlayer space and exothermic peaks are concordant and stable around 350℃. All these are the features that OM enters CM interlayers to form stable organo-clay complexes. Therefore, the combination format of OM with CM is not only surface adsorption, partial OM enters CM interlayers to form stable organo-clay complexes. Finally, through the research on OM preservation forms and enrichment mechanisms in muddy sedi- ment and mudstone, the hydrocarbon-generation processes and the global carbon cycle and budget can be explained.

    The sleep disorder narcolepsy results from loss of hypothalamic orexin/hypocretin neurons. Although narcolepsy onset is usually postpubertal, current mouse models involve loss of either orexin peptides or orexin neurons from birth. To create a model of orexin/hypocretin deficiency with closer fidelity to human narcolepsy, diphtheria toxin A (DTA) was expressed in orexin neurons under control of the Tet-off system. Upon doxycycline removal from the diet of postpubertal orexin-tTA;TetO DTA mice, orexin neurodegeneration was rapid, with 80% cell loss within 7 d, and resulted in disrupted sleep architecture. Cataplexy, the pathognomic symptom of narcolepsy, occurred by 14 d when ∼5% of the orexin neurons remained. Cataplexy frequency increased for at least 11 weeks after doxycycline. Temporary doxycycline removal followed by reintroduction after several days enabled partial lesion of orexin neurons. DTA-induced orexin neurodegeneration caused a body weight increase without a change in food consumption, mimicking metabolic aspects of human narcolepsy. Because the orexin/hypocretin system has been implicated in the control of metabolism and addiction as well as sleep/wake regulation, orexin-tTA; TetO DTA mice are a novel model in which to study these functions, for pharmacological studies of cataplexy, and to study network reorganization as orexin input is lost.

    Highlights: • Cellulose was treated to modify its crystallinity. • Cellulose was characterized by X-ray diffraction to evaluate Segal’s index. • TGA and DTA with chemometric tools were used to predict Segal’s index. • MLR model was applied to predict XRD cellulose Segal’s index from TGA curves. • MLR model was applied to predict XRD cellulose Segal’s index from DTA curves. - Abstract: Despite cellulose being the most abundant biopolymer on earth and an important commodity, there is a lack of deeper knowledge about its structure as well as faster and more efficient characterization techniques. This paper presents preparation of nanocellulose from bleached cellulose pulp of Eucalyptus by chemical and mechanical pre-treatments, while the cellulose was given treatment to obtain a great range of crystallinity index. The nanocellulose is characterized by X-ray diffraction to evaluate Segal’s index while chemometric tools by TGA and DTA were used to predict Segal’s index. DTA curves, along with multivariate statistical model, presented better result than TGA. The coefficient of variation and standard error of prediction for the proposed models using external validation samples were in the range of 0.91–0.96 and 4.18–8.71, respectively. These successful mathematical models are discussed by correlating them with the observed characteristics of cellulose.
