Commercial rolled magnesium sheets of alloys AZ31 (Mg-3 mass%Al-1 mass%Zn) and ZE10 (Mg-1 mass% Zn-<1 mass% Rare Earths) in O-temper condition were used for blanking experiments near room temperature. A serrated fracture surface can be observed in case of AZ31 but not in case of ZE10. During the shearing process of the AZ31 sheet, many micro cracks parallel to the sheet plane are generated in the shearing zone. These micro cracks lead to the formation of loose particles during the shearing operation, which interfere with further processing of the part and incur additional costs by increasing the scrap rate. It is found that the strong basal texture of this alloy is an important reason for the generation of such serrated cracks. In this paper a new method of selective texture modification i...
We have investigated the microstructure evolutions in the Ti17 near #beta# titanium alloy during heat treatments. The phase transformation has first been studied experimentally by combining X-ray diffraction analysis, electrical resistivity and microscopy observations. From a series of isothermal treatments, a IT diagram has been determined, which takes into account the different morphologies. Then, a Johnson-Mehl-Avrami-Kolmogorov (JMAK) model has been successfully used to describe the phase transformation kinetics during either isothermal or cooling treatments. Finally, the coupling of the JMAK model to the finite element software ZeBuLoN allowed us to investigate the evolution of the spatial distribution of the different morphologies during the cooling of an aircraft engine shaft disk after forging.
The main conclusion of the study on the title subject is that the impacts of climatic change in the Netherlands are still limited. However, the impacts will be stronger in the next decades and will be even problematic at the end of this century. In this book an overview is given of probable changes in the climate for the Netherlands, danger for flooding in specific areas of the Netherlands, changes of the nature, impacts for agriculture, tourism and recreation, and industry and businesses, and risks for public health. ...
This action plan describes the view of the Working Group Decentralized Infrastructure on how grid operators should prepare for the implementation of decentralized applications in the next 4 years. Currently, various parties (among which grid operators) are making preparations for the installation of smart meters in dwellings in the Netherlands. The operation will take up several years. The working group sketches opportunities with the smart meter cupboard and the smart meter in support of the developments under the Energy Transition (ET), identifying several actions in this action plan (Chapter 3). In 2007, the working group set up 'position papers' for the twelve transition paths and ET working groups, anticipating developments for the decentralized infrastructure. From the viewpoint of the grid operator, the working group offers actions that may contribute to realizing a sustainable energy system (Chapter 11). Chapter 12 provides all action items in one ...
This action plan describes the working group's ideas on how the grid operators should prepare themselves for the implementation of decentralized applications in the next four years. The action plan contains three main lines that reflect the main actions expected from the grid operators by the government and society: knowledge development of grid operators; definition of standard solutions; and realization through investment. Installing smart meters in dwellings in the Netherlands is being prepared and will take several years. The working group sketches the options of the smart meter cupboard and the smart meter to support the developments under the Energy Transition (ET) and assigns actions. In 2007 the working group drafted 'position papers' of the twelve transition paths and Energy Transition working groups which they anticipate will lead to several developments for the decentralized infrastructure. The working group then indicates how these developments ...
