Study of Bs-> \\phi l^+ l^-$ Decay in a Single Universal Extra Dimension
Utilizing form factors calculated within the light-cone sum rules, we have evaluated the decay branching ratios of $B_s\\to \\phi\\gamma$ and $B_s\\to \\phi \\ell^+\\ell^-$ in a single universal extra dimension model (UED), which is viewed as one of the alternative theories beyond the standard model (SM). For the decay $B_s \\to \\phi \\ell^+\\ell^-$, the dilepton invariant mass spectra, the forward-backward asymmetry, and double lepton polarization are also calculated. For each case, we compared the obtained results with predictions of the SM. In lower values of the compactification factor 1/R, the only parameter in this model, we see the considerable discrepancy between the UED and SM models. However, when 1/R increases, the results of UED tend to diminish and at $1/R = 1000 \\mathrm{GeV}$, two models have approximately the same predictions. Compared with data from CDF of $B_s \\to \\phi \\mu^+ \\mu^-$, the 1/R tends to be larger than $350 ...

Inverse polynomial optimization
We consider the inverse optimization problem associated with the polynomial program f^*=\\min \\{f(x): x\\in K\\}$ and a given current feasible solution $y\\in K$. We provide a systematic numerical scheme to compute an inverse optimal solution. That is, we compute a polynomial $\\tilde{f}$ (which may be of same degree as $f$ if desired) with the following properties: (a) $y$ is a global minimizer of $\\tilde{f}$ on $K$ with a Putinar's certificate with an a priori degree bound $d$ fixed, and (b), $\\tilde{f}$ minimizes $\\Vert f-\\tilde{f}\\Vert$ (which can be the $\\ell_1$, $\\ell_2$ or $\\ell_\\infty$-norm of the coefficients) over all polynomials with such properties. Computing $\\tilde{f}_d$ reduces to solving a semidefinite program whose optimal value also provides a bound on how far is $f(\\y)$ from the unknown optimal value $f^*$. The size of the semidefinite program can be adapted to the computational capabilities ...

Self-stabilizing K-out-of-L exclusion on tree network
In this paper, we address the problem of K-out-of-L exclusion, a generalization of the mutual exclusion problem, in which there are $\\ell$ units of a shared resource, and any process can request up to $\\mathtt k$ units ($1\\leq\\mathtt k\\leq\\ell$). We propose the first deterministic self-stabilizing distributed K-out-of-L exclusion protocol in message-passing systems for asynchronous oriented tree networks which assumes bounded local memory for each process.

Torsion sur rate baladeuse chez l?enfant: ? propos d?un cas
British Library Electronic Table of Contents (United Kingdom)
R?sum?

The Bbar ---> D* l nu bar form factor at zero recoil and the determination of |V{sub cb}|
Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDEWEB)
We summarize our lattice QCD study of the form factor at zero recoil in the decay {bar B} {yields} D*{ell}{bar {nu}}. After careful consideration of all sources of systematic uncertainty, we find, h{sub A{sub 1}}(1) = 0.913{sub -17-30}{sup +24+17}, where the first uncertainty is from statistics and fitting while the second combined uncertainty is from all other systematic effects.

On Phase Transition of Compressed Sensing in the Complex Domain
The phase transition is a performance measure of the sparsity-undersampling tradeoff in compressed sensing (CS). This letter reports, for the first time, the existence of an exact phase transition for the $\\ell_1$ minimization approach to the complex valued CS problem. This discovery is not only a complementary result to the known phase transition of the real valued CS but also shows considerable superiority of the phase transition of complex valued CS over that of the real valued CS. The results are obtained by extending the recently developed ONE-L1 algorithms to complex valued CS and applying their optimal and iterative solutions to empirically evaluate the phase transition.

A light charged Higgs boson in two-Higgs doublet model for CDF $Wjj$ anomaly
Motivated by recent anomalous CDF data on $Wjj$ events, we study a possible explanation within the framework of the two-Higgs doublet model. We find that a charged Higgs boson of mass $\\sim$ 140 GeV with appropriate couplings can account for the observed excess. In addition, we consider the flavor-changing neutral current effects induced at loop level by the charged Higgs boson on the $B$ meson system to further constrain the model. Our study shows that the like-sign charge asymmetry $A_{s\\ell}^b$ can be of ${\\cal O}(10^{-3})$ in this scenario.

Void fraction measurements using neutron radiography
Energy Technology Data Exchange (ETDEWEB)
Real-time neutron radiography is being evaluated for studying the dynamic behavior of two-phase flow and for measuring void fraction in vertical and inclined water ducts. This technique provides a unique means of visualizing the behavior of fluid flow inside thick metal enclosures. An air-water flow system was constructed to simulate vapor conditions encountered in a fluid flow duct. Air was injected into the bottom of the duct at flow rates up to 0.47 {ell}/s (1 ft{sup 3}/min). The water flow rate was varied between 0 and 3.78 {ell}/min (0 to 1 gal/min). The experiments were performed at the Pennsylvania State University nuclear reactor facility using a real-time neutron radiography camera. With a thermal neutron flux on the order of 10{sup 6} n/cm{sup 2}{center_dot}s{sup {minus}1} directed through the thin duct dimension, the dynamic behavior of the air bubbles was clearly visible through 5-cm (2-in.)-thick aluminum support plates placed on ...

Second order cross-correlation between kSZ and 21 cm fluctuations from the EoR
The measurement of the brightness temperature fluctuations of neutral hydrogen 21 cm lines from the Epoch of Reionisation (EoR) is expected to be a powerful tool for revealing the reionisation process. We study the 21 cm cross-correlation with Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropies, focusing on the effect of the patchy reionisation. We calculate, up to second order, the angular power spectrum of the cross-correlation between 21 cm fluctuations and the CMB kinetic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect (kSZ) from the EoR, using an analytical reionisation model. We show that the kSZ and the 21 cm fluctuations are anti-correlated on the scale corresponding to the typical size of an ionised bubble at the observed redshift of the 21 cm fluctuations. The amplitude of the angular power spectrum of the cross-correlation depends on the fluctuations of the ionised fraction. Especially, in a highly inhomogeneous reionisation model, the amplitude reaches the order of $100 \\mu K^2$ at ...
