Quantization of the Lie algebra so(2n+1) and of the Lie superalgebra osp(1/2n) with preoscillator generators

The Lie algebra so(2n+1) and the Lie superalgebra osp(1/2n) are quantized in terms of 3n generators, called preoscillator generators. Apart from n "Cartan" elements the preoscillator generators are deformed para-Fermi operators in the case of so(2n+1) and deformed para-Bose operators in the case of osp(1/2n). The corresponding deformed universal enveloping algebras U_q[so(2n+1)] and U_q[osp(1/2n)] are the same as those defined in terms of Chevalley operators. The name "preoscillator" is to indicate that in a certain representation these operators reduce to the known deformed Fermi and Bose operators.

First-principles study of the micro-arrangement of hydrogen atoms and electronic properties of LaNi_5H_x (x: 0.5-7)

The micro-arrangement of hydrogen atoms and the electronic properties of hydrides LaNi_5H_x (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) have been systematically investigated by means of the density functional theory using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The calculated results indicate that H atoms prefer to occupy the 12n site in the #alpha# solid solution phase. For the #beta# phase, once the first H atom locates in the basal plane (12n site), and because it is difficult for the second H atom to still locate in the 12n site, the second H atom would prefer to occupy the middle plane site (6m site). Coordination compounds of oxovanadium(4), nickel(2) and copper(2) with bis-(salicyliden)-thiocarbazide

A reaction of aqueous-methanol solutions of thiocarbazide and salycilic aldehyde, taken in a molal ratio of 1:2 on the matrix of oxovanadium(VO) in the presence of aqueous ammonium results in a coordination compound of the VC_1_5H_1_2N_4O_3S composition. Similar compounds are obtained with salts of nickel(2) and copper(2). Complexes of oxovanadium(4) and copper(2) have effective magnetic moments normal for systems with a spin of 1/2. The compound with nickel is diamagnetic. These data agree with the configuration of the coordination compounds obtained.

Dose conversion factor for radon concentration in indoor environments using a new equation for the F-f_p correlation

Since 1994 the radon studies group at the Institut de Techniques Energetiques (INTE) of the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, has carried out a campaign of continuous measurements of the equilibrium factor (F) and the unattached fraction (f_p) of radon decay products at four sites which are representative of different environmental characteristics on the Mediterranean littoral of Catalonia, Spain. It has been established that these parameters vary widely, F(0.03--0.87) and f_p (0--0.72), from one site to another and with time, according to the characteristics on the site and climate. In spite of this variation, the F and f_p parameters are log-normally or normally distributed. The measurements of F and f_p show that f_p is negatively correlated to F by a log-power equation, Ln(1/f_p)=1.90[Ln(1/F)]"-"0"."6"8, which can be used in all the F range, instead of the commonly used power equation f_p=aF"b suggested by Stranden and Strand and other authors, which fits ...

Species abundance distributions in neutral models with immigration or mutation and general lifetimes

We consider a general, neutral, dynamical model of biodiversity. Individuals have i.i.d. lifetime durations, which are not necessarily exponentially distributed, and each individual gives birth independently at constant rate \\lambda. We assume that types are clonally inherited. We consider two classes of speciation models in this setting. In the immigration model, new individuals of an entirely new species singly enter the population at constant rate \\mu (e.g., from the mainland into the island). In the mutation model, each individual independently experiences point mutations in its germ line, at constant rate \\theta. We are interested in the species abundance distribution, i.e., in the numbers, denoted I_n(k) in the immigration model and A_n(k) in the mutation model, of species represented by k individuals, k=1,2,...,n, when there are n individuals in the total population. In the MnIII complex of the title compound, [MnIII(C18H12N4O2)(H2O)2]ClO4, the MnIII atom is coordinated by four N atoms from the bpb2- [1,2-bis(pyridine-2-carboxamido)benzene] ligand located in the equatorial plane and two O atoms of water molecules at axial positions, yielding a distorted MnN4O2 octahedral coordination geometry. The bpb2- ligand is nearly planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.2311 (3) A from the mean plane. The MnIII complex cation and the perchlorate anion, both of which are located on twofold rotation axes, are connected by O-H...O and C-H...O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular network structure.
